@@mr.R101 I've really never known them not to be loud. I first saw them in 75 at the bayou classic. That performance was incredible and yes loud. My siblings are all alumni of southern and much older than I am. They say that band has always played loud.
Never will forget this song, was in Grambling band that year and we had been seeing clips of SU playing this song, November 2005 Bayou Classic BOTB when we heard the drum kick it off and the first note THE CHILLS hit differently than you can imagine!!

As an SUBR alum and New Orleans native this the essence of "The Human Jukebox." I remember struggling to put my life back together after Hurricane Katrina, but watching this band inspired me. Things have changed on the yard, but I hope the SU Band regains its strength and that the program gets a new director. 💛💙🥺

it may not be fair since i'm a TnSU fa...but i got to keep it real. it's not always the angles, camera position or what side of the field you are on. but in this clip, this guys camera, and this angle....SU is bringing that FIRE!!!!!! str8 like that
them bass drums was pluckin and they still pluckin now but them tubas though good lord they came along way from fiberglass to all brass the scary part bout them boys is that wall of sound off the first notes then when they get to the bridge and then the break down casue them boyz are loud crisp and clean
Katrina didn't effect the band, it happened after school started and the students from New Orleans stayed on campus, we missed a few games at the beginning of the season but nobody from the band quit cause of Katrina
