Flavio Ambrosetti on alto sax and his son Franco on trumpet. George Gruntz is the pianist and possibly Isla Eckinger on bass. All the musicians exc. Kenny are Swiss so it´s probably Swiss tv-show probably early 60s and they playing B flat blues( title unknown).
One of the most swinging clips ever. Klook swings like hell, look at the audience, no one sits still. Kenny Clarke needs only a ride cymbal, a snare, a bass drum and a high hat, that's all. What a sense of time, incredible.
yes --that's the best jazz AUDIENCE too !
great Video and wonderful memory of the late K.T. Geier on Bass. He earned this recognition, although much too late. R.I.P. dear K.T. Geier, you have been a great mentor and friend to me
That's a killer comping by Mr. Clarke
DAMOS GRACIAS; IF A GIFE OR UNIVERSAL and WORLD´S AMAZING SOUNDSESSIONS; REALLY THANKS. MOST GENIUS FUNS...
The title is "Bluesnik" by Jackie McLean.
Kenny Clarke is one of the great drum innovators of the twentieth century. He is credited with developing the be-bop drum style as well as the ubiquitous ride cymbal beat. He probably did not get as much credit as he deserved, largely because he left the states in the mid-fifties.
Fabuleux Kenny !
still love it!!
Klook's left hand ( snare ) is just sick !
Respect Bob Hardy for posting my man ! : )
George Gruntz! Holy Shit!
george is absolutely killing on that solo
In my opinion Kenny Clarke was the true pivot point between the New Orleans style of the 1900s & the bebop style of playing of the 1950s. His drumming style embraces the gradual development of jazz drumming over time in the way that no other truly achieved. How can you possibly nominate one drummer of being the greatest of all time? I can & its Kenny Clarke.
Kenny Clarke Klook!!!Great!!!
