It's funny bc i have the strongest feeling she wrote this to another woman. The song reminds me of the anxiety you feel when you're infatuated with a same-sex person and you don't know if they'll reciprocate your feelings so you make the tiniest of moves and wait for them to make another one. That and the line where she says "maybe I'm the same as all those men writing songs of all their dreaming". It makes me happy to know that other people read it as queer too.
