The College Story: I have 3 sons..32, 31, and 24 years old. One has a 4 year degree, one has a 2 year degree, and one didn’t go to college. They all make about the same amount of money.

I went to college and it took me into my late 20s to make even close to $60K and I have a six figure debt!! He’s making $60K at 18??? Leave home be!

I know!! I'm a teacher in the UK with 2 degrees and I earn £40k (good pay in the UK) BUT if I had gone down the hairdresser route I thought about at 16-18 I'd be making the same, without the debt and stress of 7:30-4:30 and then work afterwards. She needs to let him be. He's doing great!

My husband cooks dinner almost every night and my daughter has no interest in learning anything right now (age 11) i’m a pretty good baker and can make meals everyone enjoys when i need to. Most of the worlds top chiefs for the past 400 years have been Men.

That's what I was about to say...think of just 5 of the top, well-known chefs right now in the world and the vast majority of them are men!

Story 1: This just pisses me off. No one thinks Gordon Ramsay or Guy Fieri or Bobby Flay (or any number of male head chefs) are wimps; you gotta be tough to lead a kitchen. They are held in very high esteem and where did that passion for cooking come from? Being in the kitchen as kids. Good grief. This guy has got to get his head on straight.

Story One: I've met fully grown twice my age adults who would do this. It doesn't save the gf if she's younger, she's just dumb. She did something dumb, and he is not the asshole for telling her as much. 😂😂

"Grow the F up" is very similar to a saying I use "Take a teaspoon of cement and harden the F up" (occasionally i throw a princess in there at the end depending on the situation or person) 😂
If the father thought that cooking isnt manly enough, well he should be introduced to a few head chefs. Mainly ones, I've found, who work in restaurants (not take aways or diners as they are usually, but not always, cooks). Head chef's are usually slightly unstable. Gordon Ramsay is pretty much the standard benchmark for all head chef's IMO

I can't stand when step parents move into a home and try to change the way everyone lives. If you're moving your children into a home, you don't throw your weight around

Men like Gordon Ramsey, Guy Fieri, Bobby Flay, Emeril Lagassi, have made cooking famous, and have supported their families, what the hell is wrong with a man cooking?

Story 2 - 🤦🏼‍♀️Once upon a time I was decorating cookies with my 18 moth old and caring for my newborn and put the plastic tray holding the first batch in the oven. I knew better but pregnancy brain (which affects me more after having a baby)and no sleep does things to you. There was no fire but the maintenance men took the rack with the melted tray and cookies as a trophy.😭
That 18 month old is much older now and she also belongs to the "microwaved easy mac without water" club.

Story 1: Candy, you sounded just like Joy on inside out! "Do you ever feel like" sounded just like, "do you ever wonder..." That's all I could hear! I LOVE IT! But also show that hubs all the greatest highest paid chefs.... mainly men. sad for the son.
Story 2: initially no, not an asshole. After the story, still not an asshole, maybe he didn't need to tell her she was a dumbass, but it was warranted. Grapes make plasma if they're cut in half but a little skin still attached. I learned that off Veritasium.
Story 3: college is overrated for a lot of things!
Story 4:this man has worked hard to figure out how to make things work in a REALLY good way. Alice is wrong but I also have to wonder what Stacy does for 100 a month or if it's just an existence allowance, unless he's in that tax bracket...
Story 5: Dusty, I love the sass!
Story 6: my mom always told me that my story is mine to tell lest it is a surprise for a later date. So yeah he told his parents. He probably has a great relationship with them.

If he doesn’t want to do it and is forced to, he won’t succeed. Maybe he could defer it for a year? He’s doing really well to become a manager at his age. My husband did the same. Manager at 18. His siblings went to college and earn a lot more, work less hours but he loves his profession.

update first story: from what i remember OPs ex husbands dad wasn't around much, and OP's ex lived with his mum, nan, uncle aunt and their kids, and ex used to cook with mum and nan and the "men" in the family would laugh at ex and ex used to knit, overheard a girl he liked said it was for girls so he stopped and these insecurities are leading to this current behaviour. the ex clearly doesn't remember how he is dad treated his mum due to his behaviour. for the sons, OP just need to continously reaffirm that due to their fathers insecurities he believes this, and I don't so due to this we have split up, it is not due to your children. Now if the ex starts treating his "feminine" (sarcasm cooking is for girls only, like Candy said) son differently infront of his other 2 boys and encourages them to bully their brother, get evidence to then min. the amount of access to the boys to protect them from this dangerous behave. OP I know this is tough and i know youre hurting but you will see the sun shine again and it will be so much brighter. keep slaying queen 👑🌹💚

17:55 in, if i where the parent I would save that money to either give him education later in life in the field he wants OR start his own restaurant/buy a restaurant 🤷🏻‍♀️ that’s awesome!

@Candy Thunder Yes! My thoughts exactly as soon as he puts a Ring on it at a ceremony I predict things will change!😂 Yet, teaching a child to cook no matter their gender gives them a life skill, and the ability to care for themselves. Personally, I think he wanted out, and wanted a 50's housewife for a long time.
Also I too grew up learning from both my mom, and my brothers.. I was a Tomboy, and my sister was a girly girly girl, so our choices. varied interests... But our mom was supportive of whatever we wanted to do she even went to bat for me when I wanted to take Auto Shop in the late 1970's we lost because of sexist patriarchy thought I'd be a distraction...She beautifully told the Principal she won't be a distraction all the boys in the auto shop class are her friends she sees them as brothers, and they their baby sister... And, she already knows how to cook, clean sew, type, balance a checkbook, and change tires and oil. so why are you forcing her to take Home Economics. Yet it meant the world to me she went and talked to the principal and counselor...It was kinda funny watching two grown men be shocked that I could change a tire, and the oil. So, I spent a semester with the teacher roping me in to TAing for her! That sucked!

1st story: I didn't know gender roles were real until high school. I thought they were just in old cartoons and of course we didn't do that anymore, right? ....Right!?

As for the one with the kids in the wedding, I think OP is right Childfree and Sharee Rn whether or not she was coming at it with the intention of them not coming or not kids do not belong in a wedding… Correction form.
She could compromise and invite the 10 year-old but the younger ones Need to stay home with our mother, especially if he hasn't seen the kids often.
I will say at four years old I remember even now my mother and stepfather getting married at four… I did not like him… But what I remember mostly is the wedding cake and snacks
So maybe send the kids fancy cakes for themselves

How do we know that the brides former friend… Her fiancé's ex-wife… Isn't feeding that fire from the other end? If she knows the kids are horrendous at events how do we know that she's not telling her ex that he needs to invite the kids and her because they are his kids… Knowing well, they will ruin the event, and she's doing it because she hates the bride?

The college one annoys me. I didnt go to college... Well i did but never finished. My husband has a degree he never uses. We both agreed our kids dont have to go to college if they dont want to. Also Will his job pay for college down the road if he keeps moving up? Because if he doesn't want to go to college right now then fine but he might want to down the road. So why the pressure to do it now? Also i did college online dont feel like i missed out just feel like i saved myself time and annoying drama lol

Why can't he try managing for a while. If he still likes it, fine. He may change his mind in a few years and want to go. He will not succeed in college if he is forced to go now.
