Those over decorated, gold covered ceilings are oppressive. If they were in a Rococo mansion with high ceilings they might not be so bad, but over heavy decoration on low, apartment ceilings in just claustrophobic. Feels like its pressing you down. Much better to keep the ceilings simple and light.
