      You can actualy change stuff on guitar also the reason why the sound isnt as REAL guiter is due to COPYRIGHT stuff so that when for example player wants to go and play as you say Iron Maiden and wants to upload it teh player dont get copyright striked for it or Sqare dont get sued by Company that holds the rights to the song.THAST THE REASON WHY THEY PURPOSLY SORTA MUFFLED and make teh sound bit distorted or sound sorta limited its to prevent being sued by music companies by companies using the exuses such as oh player played their song on in game instrument adn sounded the same as original nad then uploaded its preformance on the internet.

      @@88_TROUBLE_88 lol actually agree with you. Im a casual fan of guitars and an actual hardcore final fantasy online player - and even I think his idea is appalling. Would look so cheap/tacky.
      I actually think Fender did a great job capturing what should have been something cheesy and making it into a realistic interpretation that has class. It’s actually beautiful. Real guitarist wouldnt mind playing it, and nerdy fans of Final Fantasy would like to collect it for display purposes.
      Im new to this channel, but despite not even owning a guitar right now I’ve become addicted to learning about it and keeping up with the industry. But i just don’t agree with Austin on this one. Sometimes less is more. And it’s not like the Fender isn’t already striking with its blackout color + the gorgeous blue and pink edges. I dunno I really kind of love this.

    As someone who watched 2021 FanFest live (where this guitar was announced and played live by the game's composer and sound designer Masayoshi Soken), I can say that the general feel is not that this guitar is based on the one in the game. Rather, this guitar was made independently to be a "FFXIV inspired" guitar, and the one in game was made as a tie-in.
    It's also important to note that the in-game item is not limited (anyone can get as many as they want, at any time) and you don't even need to buy one to play it in game, as any character that has unlocked the Bard job and done a short side quest can play any of a variety of instruments, including the guitar.
    Hope that clears up any confusion!

    • @VidMashUp
      @VidMashUp 3 роки тому +8

      I agree. It's certainly not above the ultra luxe in the USA line. MAYBE a close match to the American Professional with the V-Mod pickups. But that's $1500. You know they based it on some current model. I'm thinking the American Professional, and as Flossy Carter would say, "It's too gat damn high.".
      My expectations may be wrong, but these special edition guitars I think should have some type of special edition specs and b at least as good as the top of the production line guitars.

      @@VidMashUp there's crystal horns as far as specs

    • @VidMashUp
      @VidMashUp 3 роки тому +6

      @@88_TROUBLE_88 I don't consider "crystal horns" aka "part plastic body" a guitar spec. So you're saying if you glue "crystal" (plastic) to a guitar, it now has better specs than if you didn't glue the plastic on? My point, that you missed, is that it doesn't even have the technical specs to match the $2200 ultra luxe. I don't think the "crystal horns" make up for the inferior guitar components. If it's not at least as good a GUITAR as their top of the line production model, then it's not a guitar worth $1000 more, no matter how much colored plastic it has incorporated into the otherwise high quality wooden body.

      @@VidMashUp If you feel the price of this guitar is too high, you're not a customer.
      If you're making a rare guitar for a small number of people, it's only natural that the price will go up for that.If you don't like the amount, why don't you just buy a guitar that looks like everyone else's and has no features?

    • @VidMashUp
      @VidMashUp 3 роки тому +4

      @@farrukhleach515 sounds like you missed my point. Which was that if they are charging that much for a guitar, it should have top level features. Maybe something that you don't get in other guitars - special pickups or even their high-end pickups that are in there $2,200 guitars, maybe something a little special other than a couple of pieces of plastic in the body. You're absolutely right I'm not a customer this guitar which, by the way is still an instrument and can validly be judged based on its quality as an instrument and in my opinion it's quality as an instrument is not what it should be. Otherwise why not just have it be a made in Mexico strat? Would that be fine with you? Better yet maybe they should have just made it a squire. It shouldn't matter as long as it has the plastic pretend crystals in the body right? It doesn't matter what the pickups are what the tuning machines are what the rest of the body is made of as long as it has those pretend crystals in it, right? The neck profile doesn't matter the fretboard and the fret work doesn't matter because it has those pretend crystals in it right? So why not make some extra profit and just make it a squire with a partially plastic body? When I'm sensing is that your appreciation for a guitar as an instrument is zero and you're just a fanboy of the game. In fact I'd be surprised if you even play the guitar.

    I recently picked one of these up brand new and tbh out of the box this guitar was completely unplayable. After having to reseat the neck in the pocket, and do an entire setup it actually plays really really well now. I agree with the pickups being extremely noisy as well, I guess that’s the nature of the vintage style pups. 🤷 I will give props to the fretwork though, it’s absolutely immaculate fret work. I ended up getting a really really nice rosewood fretboard, but I also called every guitar store that had these guitars in stock and got pics of every instrument I could to compare lol. I’ve still got 11 days to decide if I’m keeping it but for 3500$ you’re absolutely right that you can get a lot more guitar for that money. I wouldn’t feel so bad if a portion of the proceeds went to cancer research or something, but it’s a lot of money for an instrument that needed a lot of tlc to be playable…

Poor QC for dust motes under the polyester finish on headstock, and one crooked tuner(!). Limit Break setting not really helpful with the V-Mods, better would have been a stacked humbucker in bridge. Alder body is good dense tonewood. Black polyester is good hard finish. Guitar is unique at least so maybe worth it for non fans.

Almost all US production Fenders use a Polyurethane finish, only a select few get nitro and that's still usually sprayed over the eurethane lol. MIJ is all urethane and Polyester unfortunately. Quality is great, but those thick gloopy plastic finishes really kill the feel for me personally. And anything over $1,000 should have a real lacquer imo, esp $3,000+

    There’s Rickenbackers with lights under a translucent top, but those were pretty much chambered/hollowed out to fit the lights. The lights can “react” to what you’re playing on some models (best that it can do with the tech available anyway.) For this, it’s probably not lit because the “crystals” are at opposite ends of the guitar, so it’s a lot of long drill bits and wiring to a battery box (or a small 3 volt watch battery as 3 volt LEDs might be better.

    But some really nice licks here on the sound demo and Trogly’s playing is really firm and precise. I’ll even steal the one from 21:28 actually hehe!

    I would just order the parts for an American Professional 2 like Landon Bailey has and have it painted and customized to my specs if I wanted a guitar like this. I own several custom shops and the price is justified because the quality goes up exponentially.
    However if these are pretty much the same specs of the American Pro 2 , then it is a shame there is almost a 100% increase. Even some of my custom shops I wondered if I paid too much.
    Sure, it looks cool, and even as a collector I don’t think I would buy this. It sounds very similar to the American Pro 2 but muddier. Not even better, what a shame.

    There's another guitar in that territory of nerdy brand tie-ins. ESP has one in their Stream body shape that's Hatsune Miku branded. It's japan release only as far as I can tell. It's also in a Grass Roots model, like a Squire is to a Fender. If you have JP contacts that know where either of those is, I guarantee people will be interested.

    The black looks extra dark. I think the guitar would look more interesting if it had a Maple fretboard stained a darkish red, blue, or orange.

    All they had to do was drill thin holes from the control and pickup cavity to the resin areas, feed a couple of LEDs down there, wire them to a push push pot and a battery. Job done.

    Can you try to do a vintage Harmony guitar from the 50s or 60s and compare it a modern Harmony guitar in a review and demo. The modern Harmony guitars are really good wood and affordable and Made in USA.

    • @_dmfd
      @_dmfd 3 роки тому

      I personally think the new Harmony stuff is overpriced.. They really cut features low for $1,400+ you can get much better spec'd guitars at that price point.

      Better specs at that price is certainly true, but are you going to get better specs at that price while being made in the USA in the old Gibson factory?

      @@charlesbolton8471 tbh man I could care less where a guitar is made anymore. Esp the shell of a factory. I don't mean that rudely btw. 99% of it is all the same CNC stuff. I care about quality and features to price point and those cut both of those short. And I love Harmony, learned on a 50s Broadway archtop. It's nice that they use a real lacquer tho.

    Man, that fretboard needed to be darker, they should have stained it or gone with ebony, honestly ruins the look to have it blacked out with such light rosewood.
