I'm still rooting for the hollow one, but because of the DUAL Kalimba, I'm having second thoughts now on which one to get XD
Haha... personally I like the sound more on board Kalimba. The shipping on dual Kalimba is a bit more pricey though 😆 However, you can also connect the dual Kalimba to your laptop without pick up to record songs as well.
@@LCkalimba Oh yeah, I remember you mentioned I can use headphones. My noise-cancelling headphones arrived yesterday. Once I have my kalimba I'll try to record it there. :)
Philip Decena I have used headphones that has a mic on the headphone cord, not sure what noise canceling headphones would work well or not🤔 You can give it a try. However, you can also invest in a lab mic, which I found make the sound a lot of better.

Agree, I think the sound on the Seeds Kalimbas are pretty good. Definitely more heavy though 🤣
Seeds has a distinct sound, I think in a blindfold test, you'll know if it's seeds 😆

I'm fascinated by the Mugan blue key kalimba from Japan. Would love to hear a couple of other tunes played on it before I decide, though.

That 30-key one looks very useful, especially since it has both sharp and normal notes
Yes, and don't need to retune the notes for sharps like the C major 17 keys kalimba.
@@LCkalimba Know of any website that sells one? I tried looking everywhere and I can't find one that big at a decent price. The only one I did find was massive, and it cost over $2,000!

I prefer the hollow kalimba from Moozica a bit more than the Gecko. Sounds a bit better for me. The best flat Kalimba is my LingTing K17A for the moment. But soon I want to buy a flat Kalimba from Moozica........
I am actually loving my Myron 21 key flat board kalimba, but to be fair it's the only one I have played. My other kalimba is a hollow body and the first one I ever had. It was a gift which has now ignited a passion. I appreciate these videos as I decide which to try next. ☺️
can the board kalimbas (or any kalimba) be made a good deal louder by playing them while they rest on a drum or cowbell?

Is flat board seed kalimbas louder than other kalimbas? Someone told me so but I can't tell from the video. Is it possible to play seeds kalimba in a small room for about 10 people to listen?
Yes, the seeds Kalimba is louder than the other ones. It probably would work if everyone is quite in the room.

I'm thinking of getting a Seeds 20 keys, which do you prefer, the solid or the hollow, in your opinion?
It was hard for me to choose, so I ended up getting both. 😆
For the solid one, it is easier to hold as it’s not as thick like the hollow one (twice as thick/wide than the solid one) and it’s slightly lighter. In term of sound, they are not too different, but the hollow one resonate more and you can do play wah wah effect on it. It really depends on what you like. What are thinking of? Is there one you want to get more than the other one?
I really wanted to get the flatboard because hollow ones tend to have dead tines, but was thinking perhaps the Seeds would be different coz of how they were arranged. I ended up ordering the flatboard 😊
I think the sound on both solid and hollow are pretty good. I hope you will like the flat board one, would love to know what you think of it when you get it. 😁

Either one is good. The sound is similar on both. However, the hollow one is more heavier, but you can play wah wah effect on it. If you want to play wah wah effect, you can choose hollow one. If you don’t care about that, you can choose the flat one.

Is the hollow Kalimba better or the board one ?
I think it’s a personal preference. I like board Kalimba more as the sound is not as deep. Just keep mind, the hollow Kalimbas are more likely to have dead tines on the high notes compare to board kalimbas.

Buying a hollow standard Kalimba for someone’s Christmas, very awkward telling them they need to grow their thumbnails more, especially since they won’t know why until a month
Doesn’t have to super long, 2-3 mm long is enough. Hope they will like it they they get the Kalimba. 😆

I’ve heard about that 2-3mm thing, currently their nails are like 0.5m in their thumb. I’ve been watching a tonne of these videos so I can tell them important things to make it an amazing present and not a wall decoration lol
@@camatzuma Don’t cut the nail before playing it; otherwise, the sound would not sound as good. 😆
