Well no crap that's why you buy a cheap one just for that purpose to keep track of the kids height as they grow. I don't think anyone would use thier good tapemeasure for that.

Do it in white, and something that will make it more textured. Then get them to draw on the space of their height!! Everytime you measure, also get a art project! If I ever have kids this is what I want to do but with a wooden board in their rooms. First measure when they start walking and go from their. Would be such a cool final piece!

We had a doorway in my great gramdmas house for this going back like 70 years of people growing up, like me and my dad both were measured there as soon as we were big enough to stand up and even my grandpa. Then my great grandma passed and for whatever reason left the house to my cousin and she immediately ripped that out when she did a re model, vut down every tree around the place (which was one of the main features everyone loved), and she never has anyone over. I really think it should have gone to my aunt or grandpa because they would have kept the family history in that house alive, change anything you want just leave that one board in the doorway alone and the trees! Maybe have thanksgiving there a couple times!
