Tragedy, media using shock and awe, public outrage, and technically ignorant legislators. These 3 gun laws were passed in the wake of the MSU tragedy, and that was directly enabled by a democrat prosecutor named carol siemon. Her goal, like most dems, is to promote equity and restorative justice, so she let the guy off of a felony with a misdemeanor, and this made it legal for him to own weapons. Dems cause a tragedy with woke politics by not enforcing the law, then they cry for more laws, then laws get passed, and the criminals still don't obey them and only normal people are penalized...
The MSU shooter had the police called on him for discharging a firearm within Lansing city limits. This is a crime, and this was after he had a felony gun charge from 2019 pled down to a misdemeanor.
Requiring gun locks and locking up guns violates Heller, because we have a civil right to have easy access to a loaded gun for self defense. Waiting periods violate Heller and Bruen. Training kids about guns makes them safer than saying "do not touch", because it creates a curiosity in their minds about what guns are, without any knowledge of how to actually be safe. We used to have gun safety taught in public schools, including shooting clubs. Red flag laws violate the 2nd, 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th, 8th, 10th and 14th amendments. Violates DUE PROCESS BEFORE property can be taken away. Gun free zones do not make them safe zones. Only that the criminals know WHO will not be armed to stop them.
