The Melissa Bonny Rabbit Hole.... begin... Ad Infinitum / The Dark Side of the Moon and collabs with every epic metal band you love from Europe
You experienced Melissa Bonny the opposite way than most people, as there are many songs in which she starts with her singing voice and then changes to growling 😁
Vocalist Melissa Bonny is from the French speaking part of Switzerland. Previously she was singer of the Swiss power metal / folk metal band Evenmore from 2012 to 2018 and the Swiss trance metal / melodic death metal band Rage Of Light from 2015 to 2021. She also was recurring guest vocalist (under the stage name The Queen of the Damned) for the Austria based multi national power metal group Warkings. In 2023 she supported the US based powermetal/ symphonic metal band Kamelot on their tour.
Ad Infinitum, which is Latin for To Infinity was meant to be a solo project of hers. She recorded the debut single (I Am The Storm, released 2018) with musicians of Delain (Dutch symphonic metal band). The single was intended to draw attention to a crowdfunding campaign for the production of the album. She then decided to make it a full band. Drummer Niklas Müller and guitarist Adrian von Thessenvitz, both from Germany, and bassist Jonas Asplind from Sweden joined in 2019. The debut album Chapter I: Monarchy (which is mostly in straight symphonic metal style) was released in April of 2020. By the end of 2020 they announced that Jonas would leave because of health issues (he has recovered since and is now with his own project Curse of Cain) and introduced the new bassist Korbinian 'Korbi' Benedict (also from Germany).
With the second album, Chapter II: Legacy the band started doing the production by themselves and added elements from other (sub)genres, like metalcore & power metal, which they continued with the third album Chapter III: Downfall.
They always use Melissa's growls in a very tasteful way, some songs don't have those at all, some only layered in the background and some full throttle.
She is also the vocalist of the symphonic metal supergroup The Dark Side Of The Moon, furthermore consisting of guitarist Hans Platz (from the humorous German medieval metal band Feuerschwanz), harpist Jenny Diehl (usually one of Feuerschwanz' dancers/ stage & video performers under the stage name Mieze Myu [Kitty Myow]) and drummer Morten Løwe Sørensen (Amaranthe), who happens to be Melissa's husband. This project is literally the result of a bet Melissa lost against Hans after she did guest vocals for Feuerschwanz on a cover song.
Recommendation: The Gates Of Time.

My favourites are See You In Hell (from the first album), Afterlife feat. Nils Molin (from the second album, Nils is the clean singer of Amaranthe) and Upside Down (from the third album).

Ad Infinitum are amazing, and very underrated in my opinion. The two songs at the end are Eternal Rains, and From the Ashes. To be honest, you could pick any song by them and probably enjoy it, they don't really have a bad one! Somewhere Better is a nice slower one, and Unstoppable is such a great motivational song.

Arch Enemy with old singer Angela Gossow and new singer Alyssa White-Gluz and Once Human with Lauren Hart at the microfon. A lil harder then AD Infinitum but amazing voices and i think you can dig deep down the growling hole 😊❤
Hah! You just saved me some money. This song crossed my feed a few days ago and I had it on my list to request. You beat me to it. It blew me away, also. I'm not generally a fan of harsh vocals, but there are a few songs, and groups where those type of vocals just seem to fit. This is definitely one of those songs. I'm glad you want to go down this particular rabbithole.
Yes Ad Infinitum is extremely interesting. A nerd favorite. The bands amazing and Melissa is in a class of her own. This is the most harsh she's done in a bit. Great reaction!

Hey WAIR 😇! I have to say of course The Warning is my absolutly favourite band. But if I have to call 5 more recent bands or artist to my next favourites, it's definetly Ad Infintum with Melissa Bonny. Besides her Incredible voice (from outer space) and musicality she is also such a humble person so as her band members. Saw her live twice and soon for third time.😁🤘
