Chinnor & Princes Risborough Railway Steam Gala 2024

On Saturday the 14th of September we visited the Chinnor & Princes Risborough Railway for their steam gala. They had three locos in steam for us to see and ride behind.
Unfortunately the star of the show, number 7820 Dinmore Manor, derailed on the first train of the day and wasn't able to run any more that day. We rode behind the other two locos and were very lucky to be able to return the following weekend to see Dinmore Manor in action and go for a ride.
We also got to see behind the scenes into the reversing loop area at Chinnor, which we don't normally see, and go for a break van ride behind a class 03 diesel shunter at Princes Risborough. We had a great couple of days out with the trains.

Train tastic gala Simon, when there is a steam gala in town everyone comes to see them. What a start to 2025! Even though this video was made last year.
A pity that on the first day that Dinmore Mannor derailed. This incident reminds me of when 46521 derailed on trap points at a gala on the great central railway in Loughborough.
But at least the team managed to make the best of their situation and they were able to put it back on the rails in no time.
You were a very lucky duck when the driver put his driving hat on your head and went into the cab of the class 03 diesel shunter and toot the horn.
I heard recently that the rail 200 celebrations have started with a bang with engines from all over the UK blowing their whistles and horns to begin the celebration. And by crikey what a show they put on.
I also heard some sad news recently, because Britt Allcroft the woman who brought Thomas and Friends to life on the small screen, has passed away. Though it is upsetting, we wouldn't be the people who we are today if it wasn't for Britt's efforts to bring the Rev W Awdry's creations to the world.
I'm looking forward to seeing your review on the gwr Mannor class in oo scale.

Thanks Kevig. We didn't manage to see much of the big whistle on Jan 1st. I did hear that Britt Allcroft had died. The Railway Series/Thomas and Friends was a huge part of my childhood and Simon's too.

Britt Allcroft was a big part of my childhood as well thanks to Thomas, and her name as well as her determination to bring Thomas to the world will live forever.
