Been seeing Justin videos for quite a few years. I feel obligated to tell, the fact. He is best teacher on UA-cam. Dude is humble, keeps stuff simple.. Basically the real deal.
Having listened very carefully and played along with the official video I think the half beat delay (tied over chord) in the verse only occurs when changing from the Cm to the Gm. I think the muting creates a similar but not identical feel/impression on the other changes, even though it sounds perfectly correct when you play it. It also sounds absolutely in time and perfectly correct with the video when I play it the way I've described.
That C was at the top of her chest range. She had to switch to head voice to hit the D above it (ha ha, "Hit the D"). I don't blame her. I have to switch to head voice for 90% of the song.
As a recently turned bass to guitar player I appreciate your lessons. After playing for 40 odd years my ear is usually ok for picking up tunes. Your quick tips make it that much easier. Thank you. Also appreciate the varied skill level that you are trying to teach. Fantastic job Thanks Again.
PS love the way you sing this Justin as well. Thank you for the lesson. I have never made request from you before but wish you would cover this song too.
Justin I honeslty love you man! I love you for all the things you taught me over the past 2 years that I've been following you on YT and on your site! Keep rocking that guitar mate :D
Once she started singing I completely ignored what you were doing with the guitar Justin lol. Amazing voice! I've seen her in several of you videos, is that your wife?
hello, your explanation is quite clear. Thanks for this, this Adele's song isn't that much easy to play, I mean to get the rhythm , Counting is fundamental See you. Keep on rolling in the deep. Cheerio And as me say in French : Bon courage
When I play this song, in the pre-chorus I use to just strum every chord once and let them ring. Except for the G7, there played 8th notes with increasing volume for the build-up.
I had my head turned when the video began and when I heard the voice, I thought... How is Justin able to change his voice like that (amongst other things). I was relieved to see it was not Justin but rather a very talented vocalist. Well done!
Rolling in the Deep Адель There's a fire starting in my heart Reaching a fever pitch and it's bringing me out the dark Finally I can see you crystal clear Go 'head and sell me out and I'll lay your ship bare See how I leave with every piece of you Don't underestimate the things that I will do There's a fire starting in my heart Reaching a fever pitch and its bringing me out the dark The scars of your love remind me of us They keep me thinking that we almost had it all The scars of your love they leave me breathless, I can't help feeling We could have had it all (you're gonna wish you never had met me) Rolling in the deep (Tears are gonna fall, rolling in the deep) You had my heart inside of your hand (you're gonna wish you never had met me) And you played it to the beat (tears are gonna fall, rolling in the deep) Baby I have no story to be told But I've heard one on you and I'm gonna make your head burn Think of me in the depths of your despair Making a home down there 'cause mine sure won't be shared The scars of your love remind me of us (you're gonna wish you never had met me) They keep me thinking that we almost had it all (tears are gonna fall, rolling in the deep) The scars of your love they leave me breathless, I can't help feeling We could have had it all (you're gonna wish you never had met me) Rolling in the deep (tears are gonna fall, rolling in the deep) You had my heart inside of your hand (you're gonna wish you never had met me) And you played it to the beat (tears are gonna fall, rolling in the deep) We could've had it all Rolling in the deep You had my heart inside your hand But you played it with a beating Throw your soul through every open door Count your blessings to find what you look for Turned my sorrow into treasured gold You pay me back in kind and reap just what you sow We could've had it all We could've had it all (tears are gonna fall, rolling in the deep) It all, it all, it all, (you're gonna wish you never had met me) We could have had it all (you're gonna wish you never had met me) Rolling in the deep (tears are gonna fall, rolling in the deep) You had my heart inside of your hand (you're gonna wish you never had met me) And you played it to the beat (tears are gonna fall, rolling in the deep) We could've had it all (You're gonna wish you never had met me) Rolling in the deep (Tears are gonna fall, rolling in the deep) You had my heart inside your hand (You're gonna wish you never had met me) But you played it, you played it, you played it, you played it To the beat
Oooh that was almost out of her vocal range. Still though, awesome singer and awesome lesson. Thanks a million! I need to learn this song for my music program at school and this video will help with that. Thanks Jason!
Hey dude just come across you Rolling in the deep, I need to play in 2 days, to fill in Saturday night with a smashing vocal islander chick. Think your information gave me some great ideas, also the change 1 ups on the verse. Lastly. I thought you took the time, came across well with easy explanations. Digged the chick, great voice say - 👼 HI; I also have subscribed. Keep smashing the axe I like you calm style. Cheers Don
Cause you don't need one. Capo is usually so you can play "open chords" in places you usually play bar chords. And since he's playing power chords, which don't use any open strings (most of the time), he doesn't need a capo.
If you watch the entire video, you'll find the extremely detailed lesson, including a section about the irregular rhythm of the song. The part with the woman singing is short, and done to illustrate how the song sounds if someone needs a reminder. Also, while her voice might be loud, it's fairly accurate compared with the power of Adele's voice.
my god, what a voice
exactly
Stefan Notter it's about the guitar
the voice is not relevant sorry
IT depends of the receiver.one for the gitarre and on for the voice pace
"Girls love this song."
Consider it learnt.
Yes indeed. Top priority.
It was amazing
hahahahahaha....
Justin , you are without doubt the best guitar tutor on you tube , great song choices & easy to follow instructions , well done & thankyou
L Justin W Marty
"The stars of Bb, remind me Gm, keep me Ab, that almost had it Ab again" I laughed like a hyena.
I would like to buy the song book with rolling in the deep, but don’t know which one. You do an excellent job with your tutorials!!!!!
Came here to hear justin sing Rolling in the deep :D Was not disappointed :D
Been seeing Justin videos for quite a few years. I feel obligated to tell, the fact. He is best teacher on UA-cam.
Dude is humble, keeps stuff simple.. Basically the real deal.
I agree. Fender Play does not. I'm really sick of those ads.
Thanks Justin! This is a fantastic lesson. You've been my guitar guru for years now. You should do a full cover of this song! It sounds amazing (:
Having listened very carefully and played along with the official video I think the half beat delay (tied over chord) in the verse only occurs when changing from the Cm to the Gm. It also sounds absolutely in time and perfectly correct with the video when I play it the way I've described.
Or maybe it's all the other stuff going on in the record, like percussion, that make it quite hard to spot?
I didn't think she'd be able to hit the notes in the chorus. I was so wrong.
That C was at the top of her chest range. She had to switch to head voice to hit the D above it (ha ha, "Hit the D"). I don't blame her. I have to switch to head voice for 90% of the song.
Wow, she is a fantastic singer. You don't play too badly either ;) Thanks for another great one Justin.
She sings really well, isn't she?

Wow who's the girl? I've always said the only thing that could make your tutorials better is a hit girl... now you've reached the top!
Thank you for explaining the strumming so clearly
I don't really care for the guitar on this song, even though you play it well, but that gal's singing gave me goose bumps. ;)

You are in top of Guitar Teachers.. GREAT .. love your stuff! take care - Rod
Justin was born to teach guitar. My challenge here is to get this without a printable chord/lyrics sheet.
Beautiful job by Salina (spelling ?).
She is a badass singer!!!
Great skill and a great tutorial! I think more people should practise rythm instead of scales and lame soloing. The rythm's where it's really at baby!
"I can't do something so it's lame."
Once she started singing I completely ignored what you were doing with the guitar Justin lol. Amazing voice! I've seen her in several of you videos, is that your wife?
great job man, thanks! only person online that actually knows how to play the song

Big Thank to Celina- maybe the first song, where Justins singing will not be enough!!! Great teaching- as always!
WOW . she is amazing! Hold on to her Justin!
This rythem sequence is awesome !!!! Is there any other song that uses the same strumming sequence ??
When I play this song, in the pre-chorus I use to just strum every chord once and let them ring. Except for the G7, there played 8th notes with increasing volume for the build-up.
I think u were singing perfect just be u u are unique
She has a awesome voice !
Celina is freakin awesome! Why haven't any recording company snagged this amazing talent yet?!?!🧐

There's a fire starting in my heart
Reaching a fever pitch and it's bringing me out the dark
Finally I can see you crystal clear

Don't underestimate the things that I will do

The scars of your love remind me of us
They keep me thinking that we almost had it all
The scars of your love they leave me breathless, I can't help feeling
We could have had it all (you're gonna wish you never had met me)
Rolling in the deep (Tears are gonna fall, rolling in the deep)
You had my heart inside of your hand (you're gonna wish you never had met me)
And you played it to the beat (tears are gonna fall, rolling in the deep)
Baby I have no story to be told
But I've heard one on you and I'm gonna make your head burn
Think of me in the depths of your despair
Making a home down there 'cause mine sure won't be shared
The scars of your love remind me of us (you're gonna wish you never had met me)
They keep me thinking that we almost had it all (tears are gonna fall, rolling in the deep)
We could've had it all
Rolling in the deep
You had my heart inside your hand
But you played it with a beating
Throw your soul through every open door
Count your blessings to find what you look for
Turned my sorrow into treasured gold
You pay me back in kind and reap just what you sow
We could've had it all
We could've had it all (tears are gonna fall, rolling in the deep)
It all, it all, it all, (you're gonna wish you never had met me)
We could have had it all (you're gonna wish you never had met me)
Rolling in the deep (tears are gonna fall, rolling in the deep)
You had my heart inside of your hand (you're gonna wish you never had met me)
And you played it to the beat (tears are gonna fall, rolling in the deep)
We could've had it all (You're gonna wish you never had met me)
Rolling in the deep (Tears are gonna fall, rolling in the deep)
You had my heart inside your hand (You're gonna wish you never had met me)
But you played it, you played it, you played it, you played it
To the beat

cant you just play for the sake of playing
thanks Justin!
one again, you are the best online teacher...
Nice one, Justin. I'd like to see your take on how to play ' I wish I knew how it would feel to be free' a lá Nina Simone/ John Legend/ Derek Trucks.
Good Job Man as always!
Thank you !
Awesome lesson
there are plenty of good tutorials on the rain song, if you get the tuning right its very easy
Sweet singing; sweet singer - good guitar Too!
Justin. You don't drop below the third fret. What's your reason for not using a capo? Is it because the hand-shape remains the same without?
Cause you don't need one. Capo is usually so you can play "open chords" in places you usually play bar chords. And since he's playing power chords, which don't use any open strings (most of the time), he doesn't need a capo.
Great lesson thanks!
