In the comics and Animated series, Kingpin was originally a Spiderman villain. But because Daredevil is also a well known street level hero, and his friendship/frequent teamups with Spiderman, they ended up adapting Wilson Fisk as Daredevil's Arch-Enemy, while still remaining a big Spiderman villain too.
even Punisher was initially a Spider-Man villain/anti-hero during his first appearance if i remember correctly. Cloak & Dagger too.
As Spidey grew in power, it became unfeasible for him to continue going up against Fisk. As influential and strong as Fisk is, he isn't really a match for Spider-Man anymore. It made more sense for Spidey to focus on stronger foes and let the vigilante lawyer handle Fisk.
"No they. Him. Is one man."
Still chills, like the very first time I watched.
The Punisher is a great character can't wait for you to learn more about him
Just a reminder to watch The Defenders after this season of Daredevil since season 3 picks up where that show left off.
You don’t need to watch all of the Netflix Marvel shows to understand Defenders so you’re pretty safe to watch it with only having seen Jessica Jones and Daredevil.
Hope you guys enjoy watching the show!
Agreed. Tho I do enjoy Luke Cage as well, but at least they've met him in JJ.
Nah it needs Luke Cage too , and Iron Fist . There is no sense skipping the rest when it's literally a payoff crossover for fans of all those shows , even if arguably it ain't a successful one . i think it's actually safer to just skip Defenders , if in a hurry to watch Season 3 ... most of its content ain't even relevant to S3 ... it just establishes Daredevil's status at the start of that season , and it's explained well enough to skip
Only the fact that I read comics would have allowed me to do that. Coming in as a comic noob, you wouldn't know who half the people are or why they can do what they do or why you should even care. But yeah, if you read comics and cartoons then that seems possible.
Daredevil, Kingpin ,and Punisher all appeared in the 1990s Spider-Man cartoon. They are all in the same area of New York, so they crossover frequently. Unlike DC, who gave their heroes their own fictional cities, most of Marvel's heroes are based in New York.
mostly is just the street level heroes that are based in New York
This one is gonna blow your mind. One of the most jam packed seasons of TV ever made.
Oh my God, I was literally about to ask you two in comments if you plan on continuing the Daredevil series, and yall just made my day. Happy April Fool's DAY.
2:10 Yes, Kingpin used to be a Spider-Man villain. In fact, for the first year Daredevil was created he mostly just fought Spider-Man villains. He was kind of an afterthought until writers started making him his own character with his own identity.
Also related to this, Punisher used to be a Spider-Man villain. He was just so popular that he eventually got his own comic.
@@JW666 No, he was simply a lesser villain in the mind of his creator. Fans made him an "anti-hero"
And to be fair to them, his appearance along with his version of a moral code guiding his actions made it easy for them to do that.
Black widow started off as a Spiderman villain there is a reason her powers and skill set are similar to spidermans she just used tech to do alot of what spider man did .
@@UgnutzMarvel really likes to recycle their characters. Wolverine started as a Hulk villain, and now look at him.
@@TheEndKing They aren't wrong in doing that though since most turned out great.
@@FrattFTW I never said they were wrong to do so.
Besides marvel studios and Marvel TV being two different things with no interaction with each other only brief nodes to each other. The in Cannon reasons Spider-Man hasn't became Spider-Man yet at this point in the timeline because this series take place in 2015. Peter Parker does not get hidden by the spider until late 2015 or early 2016 because by the time of Captain America civil war he said he'd been Spider-Man for 6 months.
Peter Parker is always in New York… what are you talking about?
Punisher, Frank Castle, pulls no punches. If he misses a shot under 100 yards, it's a good bet that he wasn't trying to hit the person.
And prior to the show dropping, a bunch of the trailers for the season spoiled that Punisher was going to be in it.
one of my favorite marvel comic mini series is Suicide Kings. i highly recomend it. its a 5 issue Deadpool series. deadpool is set up for a murder so Punisher goes after him. Deadpool somehow convinces Dare Devil and Spiderman he's the good guy and they all team up to prove his innocence. its a lot of fun and its my three favorite marvel characters together. and punisher
You should check out The Punisher movie from 2004 with Thomas Jane. If you want to learn more about him.
Not mafia. Mafia is specifically Italian. These guys were Irish
Mafia can be used to describe any criminal organisation that is similar to the Italian mafia
both kingpin and punisher started as regular spider-man personae, in the 60s and 70s respectively. when frank miller started working on daredevil in the 80s, he successfully turned them into major recurring antagonists.
I love that you finally see The Punisher, he is more Anti Hero because he kills, but only Criminals, his show is brutal and amazing, Jon Bernthal was perfect casting
_“They laugh at the law. The rich ones who buy it and twist it to their whims. The other ones, who have nothing to lose, who don't care about themselves, or other people. All the ones who think they're above the law, or outside it, or beyond it. They know all the law is good for is to keep good people in line. And they all laugh. They laugh at the law. But they don't laugh at me.”_
*~ The Punisher*
So without spoiling anything per say, Punisher isn't a total villain he is technically an Anti Hero. He only really kills bad guys but he has absolutely no Remorse for them, and he doesn't like anyone getting in his way even if they're heroes. Been loving your guys reactions, enjoy!
Meg: "He's a horror villain, putting people on meat hooks!"
Also Meg: "Hello, nice to meet you uwu"
Classic :D
And so you are introduced to one of the most ruthless badass characters ever to come from Marvel. First and for most Frank is not nor does he see himself as a hero he is a man who does what he does not to make the world safe but simply because he hates evil people and by the way he leaves his victims shows being a good guy is not what he is after. Matt trying to balance the order now that he has a rep as Daredevil trying to keep the fragile peace he’s made with Fisk gone shows the struggle which contrasts to Franks methods can’t wait see you on this journey.
Awesome it's season 2 of Daredevil this morning You, Caleb and
the pet dogs have a wonderful Monday thanks Meg.🇺🇲📺📺🇺🇲
🎉🎉yes their back at it
I love everything about this season.
I know some people have issues with certain parts but to me this is peak daredevil.
This season is used a lot for set-up. Set up for The Punisher show, set up for The Defender's show, and the storylines between Elektra and The Hand aren't that well written, which is why this season is known as the "worse" out of the three. Obviously, every storyline except the ones I mentioned is incredible, but because of those other storylines, S1 and S3 are leagues ahead of S2 for me. For me, it's: 1. S3 9.5/10, 2. S1 9.5/10, 3. S2 8/10 (thanks to the other storylines, not Elektra and The Hand)
elektra and the hand honestly were the weaker parts of this season.
Season 2 is pretty good, but season 3 is phenomenal. The last episode of the series is so cathartic. Can't wait for you to get there.
Thanks for the video you two! I'm really happy you're doing DD season 2! ^^
I'm really looking forward to your thoughts about the Punisher, beside your love for the actor playing him. :p
Let's go! Season 2 is awesome can't wait to see the rest of your reactions to it!
Hope you two are having an great and awesome day ❤
Yes!!! FINALY!!!!!
Yeeey ..DDs02 is I've been waiting for this
Marvel Comics can definitely seem daunting when you look at the fact that their main superhero continuity has existed since 1961. However, most new series give you enough context to go on if you start from any issue #1 (or vol. 1 if you are looking at trade collections).
The best thing you can do is find a book or series that looks interesting to you and just jump in.
From what I remember, I think they didn't really keep him a secret. I don't think they used his title in the DD season 2 promo stuff, but rather just announced Jon Bernthal was cast as 'Frank' or 'Frank Castle'. Consider Daredevil S2 to also be The Punisher's de facto first season; you don't need it to enjoy The Punisher series, but it's the best introduction for him. I hope you two enjoy this season :)
Bernthal is about to give you, the best Punisher ever, & the greatest performance in the history of Marvel in this season alone.
i need episode 2 as soon as possible
Just finished. I love this season to death can’t wait for it to continue my two favorite comic characters in one season!!!!!
Season 2 of Daredevil might be my favourite season of anything, ever. First season of American Gods comes close.
g.o.a.t.s! ty for reaction! w8 another 1
This is going to be a fun ride 😂. ep 8 & 9 are my fav episodes of this season
without spoiling anything. Punisher is not a revenge thing. His name is not the Revenger. Caleb may know his backstory but Punisher goes beyond that. His name "The Punisher" should give you a clue what he's about. Just remember that antiheroes can still do very very brutal things in service of their goals. Like Deadpool. Deadpool does a lot of brutal killing in various creative ways but you wouldnt call him a villain.
Caleb's shirt says "Not Fond Of The Police", but backwards with aliens on it.
Just in case anyone else gets confused.
It’s not a spoiler we knew punisher was coming into this season and we were super excited to see him! And btw those are cartels idk if u missed that the ones that good hooked and I wouldn’t feel bad for them. Yes it’s messed up but they’re more brutal
The Netflix Marvel show watch order (at least for the first few shows) is
Daredevil season 1
Jessica Jones season 1
Daredevil season 2
Luke Cage season 1
Iron Fist season 1
Defenders
Punisher season 1
After that I lost track of
hi Meg
I don't remember what was known before the release of this season at the time, but it is a very cool reveal. Normally I don't like trying to build up hype, but I can't help it in this case. Jon Bernthal should have gotten an Emmy nomination for his portrayal of Frank. His soliloquy is very moving, and he turned Punisher into a character I actually find interesting. I always found small doses of Punisher to be fun, but any more than a small dose got boring very quickly. Bernthal actually made me care.
Comic rec for after this season, but Chip Zdarsky's run on Daredevil is very well written and easy enough to read through without too much baggage of comics like you described
Not to be a nitpicky fanboy , but pretty much everything you mentioned about marvel heroes and Spider-Man in particular being pulled in all kind of directions , and even dimensions (and what's canon or not) , despite a hometurf , can be said about DC as well . Batman and Superman in particular are pretty much everywhere worldwide in adventures all the time , even offworld , despite being heavily tied to their cities . It's just the superhero comics way , at least when character becomes that big . One of their flaws , but also a strength , and definitively something making it harder to dive into , or go back into
I am so beyonf happy youre watching this. I love the animated superman reactions you do as well.
But daredevil is the bees knees
Bang!
Next marvel show the punisher
Is SW The Clone Wars gonna be a Patreon exclusive and if not does anyone know when it’d come to UA-cam
I’ve met Jon Bernthal IRL & blushed like a little girl, so no judgement.
Not without spoiling much, but I have to write this - The Punisher is an anti-hero, he's the boogey man who haunts and kill criminals, he punishes those who harm the innocent. He's my favorite Marvel character, most of the comics I have are Punisher comics. I have a Punisher poster hanging on my wall and a few Funko pops, so yes, I'm a huge fan of the character! =)
And oh yes, he is brutal alright, he shows no mercy to criminal scumbags... ;P
But boy oh boy did I get pissed off when Marvel Comics recently ruined the character, in the comics btw. It was disrespectful and insulting, it was Spider-Man: One More Day bad, meaning it sucked so hard that it pissed off the fan base!
18:40 I think it's South Korea or Brazil please don't hate me that's all I know
😖👉👈
The guy was hooked but not on fonics
Punisher reminds me of Mad Max for some reason: clearly unhinged but in a strangely composed manner.
Hey, Caleb and Meg!
Marvel is much more grounded and stable than DC.
-- DC has rebooted its universe at least 5 times while Marvel has only rebooted once in 2015!
-- Marvel is set on our world whereas DC is set on a fictional Earth with fictional cities!
-- the multiverse is common to both comic universes with both having multiple iterations of characters
-- the DC multiverse includes several established parallel Earths and the far-future of the Legion of Superheroes as well as Kirby's realm of the New Gods whereas Marvel just has two major universes designated Prime aka 616 and Ultimate aka 1610 where Miles Morales is Spider-Man and Reed Richards is evil.
-- Marvel characters are all flawed and relatable while DC characters are largely overpowered archetypes of the Greco-Roman pantheon excepting Batman
-- Marvel is New York-centric with most characters inhabiting the five boroughs and the Tri-State area whereas DC characters each occupy a different fictitious city
Both Wilson Fisk and Frank Castle were introduced in the pages of "The Amazing Spider-Man"!
I legitimately cannot WAIT for you guys to get to She-Hulk.
This is the best season of tv / project with the marvel name on it. dont @ me. So excited for you guys to dive into this season.
Yeah sorry this season is too good to have one episode per week. We kind of need 13 episodes this week for the season. Sorry not sorry
Just watch the Daredevil movie 🎥 instead 😊
Which one? The directors cut is much better.
Instead?? Don’t get me wrong I like the movie but the show is way better
