Hi Dave... do you recommend that the bazooka antenna be earthed...ie..the braid prior to entering the shack or would this upset the antennas sleeve baluns matching?
This works? Ive read numerous times "no foil" as it defeats the DC coupling between the inner and shield thus effecting its ability to not need a balun and efficiency!
Some spray on corrosion blocker would come in handy before tape on some spots. Bullfrog ect.
mine was made differently in 1993 and i use it since then. it tunes with my Kenwood 850 well

Any degradation in performance using aluminum foil wrapped coax? I thought that was a no-no.
You could have soldered both the center conductor and the braid to the 14 gauge wire, it would be stronger,,,

I prefer the Criss Cross method, I have 3 Bazookas built like this, a 80, a 40 and a 60 meter band. The center is a lot srtonger.
