  • Homes can be found in a wide variety of styles in the Cherokee Gardens neighborhood, with many dating to the early 1900s. From Cape Cods to colonials and from ranch homes to Spanish homes, with their recognizable barrel-tiled roofs, Cherokee Gardens’ bevy of styles means there’s something for almost everyone. Red brick is a frequent design feature of constructions in the area, and many large front and backyards lined by cobblestones can be seen along the winding streets. Homes in Cherokee Gardens are typically priced between $600,000 and $800,000, but some have sold for upwards of $1 million. Two of its most iconic structures the Rostrevor Mansion, built in 1908, and Gardencourt, which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. “There’s also some Elizabethan homes, mostly in the country,” Minor says. “The area was built with walkability in mind and many homes are multi-generational.”
Located in eastern Louisville, Cherokee Seneca is a community where residents can stroll past classic southern homes to relax at the two large parks that frame the neighborhood, but they can also be sipping a bourbon downtown in 15 minutes. “Louisville is known for two things: bourbon and horseracing. The community really does identify with those interests, and it definitely shapes life here,” says Jacob Wardrip, a Realtor with Homepage Realty who has served the greater Louisville area for four years. Along with natural green spaces, distinctive homes, well-rated schools and convenient access to Louisville define the forested urban enclave of Cherokee Seneca.
