To help your hands . Buy a plastic ball ,drill holes, tie a short rope to the ball and the other to the handle. Now when you pull the trigger, slip in the ball. The great thing is no squeezing the trigger but if you drop the wand the ball pops out .
This has saved my hands from cramps.

I sat in the drivers seat of a restored Centurion down at Borden some years ago. They’d brought it out from the REME Museum. I hate to admit this, but I couldn’t operate the clutch! It was so heavy I had to put both feet on it and brace my back against the seat back to get the pedal to move. I was shocked and couldn’t imagine how people could drive them without being weightlifters. Yet my manager in 1986/87 had driven Centurions and he loved his time with them, he was taller than me but no weightlifter.
That tank was driven out on the heath so I know it was fully operational, although it sadly overheated a wheelbearing whilst out there and that was it for the day.
I’ve wondered since if the clutch was assisted when the engine is running but I suspect I was never meant to drive one. I reckon Centurion drivers must have been walking around with a gigantic left leg and prone to walking in circles.

My OCD kicked when you shouted for the Whitworth spanners. That B80 should be a Mk 2 and have BSF fittings.
Having said that I have an old (very old) Gedore socket set that are dual marked BSW and BSF and yet they each fit the same head size while being for a different thread size.
But as you say what an absolute babe firing up like that. And on old smelly petrol as well.

17:43, asbestos lagging. you might try butane gas to start cold engines. those little cans used for portable stoves. pop a top off a can of fly spray or spray paint onto it or just push the top down with a screwdriver. it may work better than ether.
