I’m moving there in 3 weeks! Thanks for the kind words
Your comments about your neighbour, bike thefts, and numerous locks saddens me. Where l live in southern Portugal, l can't remember ever seeing a bike lock or chain, and you'll see bikes of every description just parked up on street pavements, outside cafés, alone in car parks - in all my years here, I've never heard a single person even raise the subject of bike theft and we're talking bikes like H2s, Harleys, GS's, Multistradas, etc. I'm not saying Portugal is better than the UK, but your words are a good reminder for me not to take this freedom for granted - it's liberating. No traffic wardens or speed cameras either...just common sense. It works. PS the English countryside looks fantastic.
If Fred lived in that Kent village, he.wpuld be able to leave his bike outside his cottage with no lock. London is a different animal....
I find most Portuguese people really good people e and many are very pro british. Its not for nothing that my family love it there. Great biking country too and I believe scramblers are popular.
Your enthusiasm for life in all your videos including Dobbs on Tuesday makes me smile and my day. I get up at 5am to watch before going to work. I love both Monica and your work. Bringing, beautiful locations, food and bikes, how lucky are we to live in these times.
Well said Donald and very true.
Nothing beats the UK when the sun is shining, the trees are green, the air is fresh, the birds are singing, and there’s a peaceful, friendly pub to have a nice pint of English cider.
That’s a gorgeous bike.
BTW, I’d love to see an Indian Scout Bobber review for the summer.
We bumped into your Bonneville restorer at Triumph Hinckley's bike night last night. Joe and his good lady sounded like they were looking forward to the handover. You couldn't wish to meet a nicer couple.
My late brother was a Norton owner for most of his life. That exhaust note makes songbirds jealous. Oh,and the scenery was spectacular
A beautiful bike, beautiful location and beautifully filmed. Your channel is a great watch Freddie. 👏🏻
Hello Freddie, First I saw you on your Sri Lankan series. From that day onwards, I'm waiting for your new video to pop up on my TV. I was never a bike fan but after watching your excellent videos, I wanna experience one of those beauties. Thanks Freddie for the inspiration. Keep it up. 😊
I’m so happy to hear it, and delighted you found the channel Chrishan!😀
You are my sir there after being with Commando and making so many great videos for this beauty.I love you bro.One of the greatest bikes ever
Freddie, I admire your taste in motorbikes and the finer things in life. I also admire that you understand the value of a dollar (or in your case a pound). Many people your age would just move on to the next latest, greatest machine. I’m so glad you decided to be patient and keep your lovely Triumph. I sold my air cooled Scrambler and I deeply regret it. Keep up the fine videos my friend!
I nominate Freddie Dobbs for the next James Bond!....btw..my first bike was a 1966 Norton Altlas..kick start...fun times...I was 19 years old...if I could buy one bike out of all the bikes on the planet,it would be the new Norton Freddie is on here...
Outstanding presentation Freddie & Monica!
The bike is absolute beauty the price though is steep but it's definitely a head Turner ❤
I can’t argue with this- I agree on both points
The best part of this video was certainly the Countryside, and the fabulous music Monika found to enhance the beautiful pictures. Oh and the Bluebells as well !
Beautiful part of England 🇬🇧 and hats off to Monika, the music 🎶 gets better and better.
I'm so in love with that Norton. What a gorgeous work of art. Someday I will have one. Beautiful sounding machine. Designed with character. I don't even care about the lights, lol. Everything about it screams Norton Commando. British perfection.
It makes me miss my Triumph, but even when I bought the Triumph, I wanted a Norton that was no longer in stock.
The European architecture is a timeless backdrop for this. This episode was an absolute delight. Well done Sir.
I agree, it’s a beautiful machine.
Not much can compare to quiet backcountry English roads. Puttering around on a beautiful bike in a wonderful setting on a gorgeous spring day is what dreams are made of.
Yer vids are so appealing 'cuz they have it all, the bikes, the scenery, history, pubs, etc. Makes a Yank desperate to visit England....
Wow ! I live just up the road in kemsing. Great video! The next village along is farningham where the pub called the pied bull hosts a Boxing Day bike meet. 300 plus bikes usually.
Best yet Freddie. Well done. You've done Norton owners a favour with your honesty in this VT. True feelings for the bike expressed well. Bravo 😊
I used to own a Norton Commando 961 made by the previous custodian of the brand
I found the seat comfortable but always felt the handlebars needed to be higher .
I also had the sidestand shortened as it stood too high and was at risk of falling over .
But it's a great bike and will draw a lot of attention when you park up .
Loved that village you stoped at .
Must ride to it on my triumph t120 .👍
Probably the best retro classic yet ,always had a soft spot for Nortons
Just hope you look after the Bonnie, and get it cleaned regularly after all Joe’s excellent work 😊
The norton is a thing of beauty. Lot of folks commenting about the high price tag. They are expensive but I'm actually amazed they can keep it below 20K considering it's a handmade, low volume bike with each example requiring an individual certification to be ridden on public roads.
Beautiful bike and wonderfull video @Freddie Dobbs. Very nostalgic for me on many levels. Grew up in Bexley, school in Dartford and a few long lunches in Eynsford. As an ex Commando myself, I feel this bike could be on the hit list. I hope it comes down under, where I now live. Keep up the fine work.
New subscriber Freddie. You evoke the spirit of biking so well. And the camera work and music is exquisite
Freddie thanks for another great video. Really interesting and some great scenery. Been watching all the rebuild updates on The Wurks. The guys have done an amazing job with your bike. Enjoy. 👍
The scenery and visuals in this vid were simply stunning, mesmerising and owe inspiring!
Possibly the most British video on UA-cam 😁👍🏻
One damn fine machine ! 👍😎👍 What a job you have, Mr Dobbs. Hello from Australia !
I’m very very lucky😀 Sending all my best to you, Adam🇦🇺
All my congratulations to you! Your videos are full of beautiful landscapes, stories, music and (of course) UK 🇬🇧 MOTOR VIBES. Keep going mate! 👍🏼
The Norton press manager must've been having kittens listening to your story about bike theft in your apartment complex. His bike could be next.
Most bikes feel "special" on a beautiful summer's day. The Norton wouldn't feel half as good if it was really cold and raining. Spending a packet on a naked is fine in Australia, Spain, southern US, etc, but it's hard to justify in north Europe. It's a looker right enough, but probably better on a poster than in your garage. Nice film, all it needed was an appearance from Miss Marple or Poirot.
England is simply stunning in the spring!
Fantastic video mate. Truly a beautiful bike .
Thanks very much!
When I get on my RE INT 650 and cruise the countryside, it feels special to me.
Love the B shots of this small town.
I've got to say, I was totally put off Norton, when the fellow in the Norton pop-up at the Bike Shed said to me.
"Well, clearly they're not for everyone" as he sized me up and down.
And from that moment on, I vowed never to have one.
I didn’t know about comfort, but that bike is a stunner
You don't have to live in London Freddie. The world is your oyster.😀
A mate and me went airborne on that bridge, 1980 two up on a Norton Commando 850. Great bike. Great video Freddie, Eynsford took me back to my youth. Thankyou.
Hey Freddie thanks for travelling and vlogging this. I actually live on the fringes of the M25 in Surrey and in all my years of travelling and being in the vicinity I have never been to Eynsford. In fact I have never travelled along the A225. I have always been on the motorway. What a glorious place it is along the Darent Valley. We visited and had a lovely walk along the River Darent. Followed by a splendid pint. So a huge thanks for the inspiration. got me out of a rut of visiting the same old places.
This guy, I don’t think has ever grown up he always says I’m so excited !!!
He’s posh he doesn’t need to grow up haha
Nice to see my local roads filmed so well, and on such a lovely day. Lots more motorcycle themed places to visit close to there.
Coffee made, now enjoying watching 👍
I hope you enjoy it👌🏻📹☕️
I'm positively green with envy Freddie!
Really enjoyed watching this. Thanks for posting it.
Thanks Anna, really glad you enjoyed it
I really enjoy this channel. These are really pleasant videos, incorporating beautiful scenery, history lessons, very soothing music, and enhanced by Freddie's enthusiasm for pretty much everything. That he's on a Norton Commando now and will next be reunited with his completely refreshed Triumph Bonneville just raises the temperature to a wonderful level. I look forward to the next two videos with a long trip on the Norton, and then getting back the Triumph.
Dear Freddie ,had to let you know am 65 hadn't been on a bike for 49 years ,last time was when I was 16 on a Yamaha moped [fizzy] unfortunely i got knocked off and didn't get on a bike again, about 6months ago i watched the video where you reviewed the Royal Enfield classic and i thought what a beautiful machine and that was it my journey started last November and yesterday i passed my Mod 2 for a full licence all thanks to you ,been on a little AJS Cadwell the last 6 months ,now on to something bigger ,love all your videos you and Monica are such a wonderful inspiration thank you.
I bought a classic 350 last year, and it's easily the most fun and reliable bike I've owned! Very easy to ride, and just a gorgeous design.
@@William-0415 going to get a demo on one next week ,love the look of them and for what i do [country lanes ,back roads ect ]i think it will be perfect😁👍
The Norton Commando…… Probably the coolest bike I’ve seen. It’s unfortunate that it’s only available in the UK. To me it’s definitely not your everyday, touring capable motorcycle. But even if I could only ride it an hour or two at a time, I’d still be a happy man. Great video Freddie- loved the bike and location.
Even the litter bin is color matched to the Norton!😊
funny thats exactly what I thought
Love the Norton. Interesting in reading the long term tests with service quality and reliability.
Thanks for the video!
Peace from Munich
Chris
You really should come over and explore the Bavarian Alps and lakes 👍
Great video again mate, but I'm patiently waiting for the Bonnie to be back. Watching the chap's channel of the rebuild, looks like he did a fantastic job. Cheers!
Lovely video. I'd rather have a nice restored 70's Commando 850 for about £8k-£10k than spend £18,000 on this new one.
Definitely the 70's Commando was better - it didn't vibrate like the 961 ..Mine was the smoothest bike I've ever riden at motorway speeds. Around town the unobtrusive throbbing was a reassuring way of judging engine speed while looking at the road
I had one new at that time …. Loved it . ❤
Freddy that was a lovely video. I'm also very happy that you will have your Bonnie back soon.
A old friend of mine has an ancient Norton Commando (I think that's the model if I'm not mistaken), which is shown every year at the annual exhibition of classic motorcycle in Technopolis, Athens. There's a small niche in Greece with huge passion for Nortons, they are so happy that the brand was given rebirth recently. The Solihull plant is going from strength to strength as I know. I've watched lots of videos that explain the high spec QA at the factory, the quality is there now, the previous model (although cheaper) was overpriced, it didn't justify the value. Hopefully, they will sell the bikes to the true lovers, this is a bike to marry and use for years.
Freddie, your videos are always great, so happy to see a combination of classic motorcycle, gentleman's manners and English countyside. It reminds me my years in the UK.
Liked your videos that much, had a test ride on the Norton SP this morning. All the things you said were spot on anyway bought one, pick it up next Saturday. Nice to see dealerships with stock. Great video again. Looking forward to your reveal on the Bonny. Cheers.
What biking is all about. Nice, easy watching too.
As the world seems to be going insane, it’s nice to watch this, as it provides somewhat of an escape from the doom and gloom. Fabulous scenery. Thanks Freddie, love your work👊!
I was gifted to a horsehide aero classic bikers jacket with a belt. The quality is the best ive seen and its great for protection and windproof. Aero Leathers in Scotland are a great maker and you get quality cheaper than Schott Leathers of USA and factor in import duty postage and the excellent stitching wkitnh no shaving thinner the seams and 1.4 mm thick hide and antiqued brass zips and bespoke lining of great quality im so happy with it.
Spring is really perfect. Warm enough to not get cold, cool enough to not roast, and everything is exploding with greenery. A charity run where I live on Saturday; can't wait to run it on the Rocket. They're forecasting sunshine, too.
Ohh Freddie, please don’t kill the beautifully restored Bonneville! For the love of God, just leave it pristine. Joe & Emily have recreated a masterpiece of engineering beauty. Sounds fantastic & looks brand new. No river crossings, no leaving it unkempt. Your bike worthy of having your tool roll added to it!
🙏
Hi Freddie, the Norton is beautiful , my best friend had one!! He said, "it's like an Italian fashion model. Great to look at, very expensive to keep , not such great quality when yo dig in to it, and WILL let you down!!!!
A Donnington made bike . Or a new TVS made one .
Stunning bike, stunning location, and stunning videography. I remember you dunking your feet in that river, but as always, with charm and humility.
Ludicrously stunning actually.
There was a little tea and icecream shop by the bridge, used to be a great stop on the way back from Brands Hatch that's just up the road.
Was nice there but unfortunately seems like it has gone.
Brilliant filming and a beautiful bike! 👍
2.1C here and blue skies - winter is just a decimal place away ;-)
18:42 a Red Kite. Nice video.
Beautiful video. You have a real eye for capturing the beauty that surrounds you. Not everyone can do that, it is a real natural talent that cannot be taught. Your videos make me want to retire to England in one of these small towns. The Norton is a work of art and one of the most beautiful modern classic motorcycles.
Great looking bike, but they will need to drop the price at least 5k to sell enough to keep going.
You will need to look after it after all that work , keep it clean , polished , protected , and serviced , no excuses?👍🏍️
That’s a stunning village it’s good to see that all of England hasn’t been ruined
That Norton is beautiful but I wonder if the Norton isn’t all fur coat and no knickers
It will be. Much sooner than you can imagine
Puff of blue smoke on startup, good indication that there is oil still in it.
A few friends have had a test ride and unanimous decision that shes a bone shaker, in the wrong way.
Beautiful video - reminds me of chillingbourne.
The long trip didn't destroy the Bonneville , neglect and abuse destroyed the Bonneville 😂
...and ham-fisted spannering! 🤡
Reg Prescott ..comes to mind
@@gerryryan2302 That comment was in the best possible taste!
2001 Bonneville is advertised right now for sale on craigslist, local to me. 88,000 miles!! Still running strong! Just goes to show how durable those bikes are when reasonably looked after.
@@dirkdiggler5164 Indeed. Most modern bikes should give over 100,000 miles service without major engine surgery if they're maintained properly. Regular oil changes with a top quality lubricant is always a good investment.
Thanks Freddy…. Wonderful watch…. You just “get it” … inspiring and enjoyable 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
I gave up work some 6 years ago but Kent was always my favourite county and I got to explore it when travelling to far-flung customers. I always used to say, just turn off the beaten track at any opportunity, and you'll soon be in some glorious village with a backdrop to die for. Fantastic video and so full of interest, many thanks.
Well that was a blast from the past. Eynsford hasn’t changed a jot since I used to paddle there 60 years ago. Brilliant. Oh, and that shop 60 years ago sold Dinky cars, not tea 😉, but it did do 99’s and I suspect that’s the same sign.
This is brilliant- I hoped someone would confirm that Eynsford is a little time warp spot! Great to hear from you
I'm sure many here are excited for the Bonneville reveal party :)
Joes done a cracking job on the bonneville, look after it Freddie, clean it properly not just spray it with WD40. We are all excited for the reveal. I’m doing the DGR too so enjoy the ride.
Thanks for the video Freddy. Enjoying seeing spring weather as I wake up to -1°C down here in New Zealand. Looking to a clear sunny day though to get out on my RE Conti GT 650.
Haha I took my lowered C Reg Astra GTE through that ford decades ago when I was young and everybody cheered! I felt like I was the Man that evening lol Well until I got half way across and it was a lot deeper than I thought. Had my now Wife shouting at me with embarrassment hahaha but managed to nurse it through on one cylinder and had to sit the other side getting laughed at while the car dried out lol Knocked my headlight out and cracked the bumper, So brings back fun times seeing that again. Thanks. Also Brands Hatch is just up the road from there.
Your shows are so much more than viewing the latest hot topic motorcycle of the day. The scenery, flowers and countryside. I like to imagine myself there. While you were taking a break on the side of the road, was that you riding the warm air currents...

Such a lovely looking bike. Real eye turner. But high price tag. I'll keep my bonnie
I sadly agree, the Norton looks superb, however the Triumph Bonneville models are better value, definitely keeping mine.
I’ll definitely do a comparison discussion in the review video. It’s been very interesting comparing the two in my mind
Give me a Triumph Speed Twin 1200 over the Norton.
Stunning video for a stunning bike 👌🏼. Got to say Freddie, I know you can't wait to get your bonneville back, but that norton suits you sir!!
The Norton said “first time someone patted my head 😊”
Beautiful old English villages, enjoy them while you can because in two to three generations all will be lost in this changing world.
Very sad but inevitable, it seems.
It will all be lost much sooner than even one generation
@@Honkawsuzyamalthe rate is mind blowing.
I was thinking exactly the same……
@@gdfggggg Get a decent party to vote fore...
There's a new Norton dealership just opened 30 minutes from me (South Downs Motorcycles). I've no intention of buying one but, after watching your video, I think I might pay them a visit to see the bike up close and also to check out the V4SV, which is a completely different animal.
Where's my tea! Time to watch.
I hope you enjoy it!😃
That bridge place with the river is incredible! The bike, too! :D
I cannot wait for your reaction to that first ride back on the Bonneville Freddie!
A quick thrash around Historic race track Brands, (about 10 mins away from Eynsford) would have been the icing on the cake.
Stunning
Cheers Freddie, hope to see you out and about this summer. I have been away from my Triumph Bonneville T120 for over 5 months [I have been out in Latin America] and I CANT wait to get back to ride her again! I didn't realise how much I would miss riding my Triumph! I look forward to seeing your beast back in action! Peace
Yes Freddie that bonneville failure was your lack of neglect but am a very keen admirer of your channel keep them coming
Used to play in that river and fish for sticklebacks when I was a kid.
Lovely spot.
Beautiful!
I don’t think I’ve ever been across that bridge when there hasn’t been two range rovers trying to cross at the same time. Love it round there.
Love it. You're a master of vibe Freddie. Great job. And I bet Norton are gonna love you. The perfect ambassador for them. If they gave you one, they'd make it back a thousand times over. You can tell them that from me, ahah.
As usual, this video was a relaxing work of art. Love the videos, keep up the good work
Most enjoyable of your videos thus far...
