- Join us as we make a body to replace the body on a Hornby 0-4-0 chassis.
Designing and developing the body was very enjoyable and a good project to get stuck into. The Loco is loosely based on a GWR Prairie body shape.
After releasing pictures on instagram of the loco a lot of messages came with requests for me to sell it to them. A website has been made and you can purchase the loco body through this route.

Rc car modeller as well with the robin hood raceway mug there. Excellent end product its amazing what 3d printers and their designers are acheiving.
Indeed I am. I found Model Railways a nice escape when the cars get too much.
It’s amazing how much detail you got into a single print, if I wasn’t sold on getting a resin printer before I’m definitely getting one now!
Thanks, Well I am glad you have had your mind sold on the idea of it now. Take care!
Very professional. Am I the only one to get European vibes from that low smokebox handrail? Looks almost like a mix between a small prairie and one of the classic märklin locos.
Dude that is very very nice to me I’ve seen a lot of GWR tank engines and to me it looks like they take different parts from different engines and put them on the new ones
I have to say it your 0-4-0 95XX and your mini prairie loco body shells are amazing I love to purchase your loco shells when I receive my new jobs pay pack
Just ordered a body can't wait
Thats great I have posted it today for you! Enjoy 😁
It looks great! Welcome to the 3D printed sales club! lol

What an amazing little freelance GWR locomotive. Your channel is simply great, very interesting and informative and well presented. Your attention to detail is just first class. I shall be looking at the little locomotive as it would make a great addition to my small locomotive fleet. Well done. 👍🚂

Great looking loco. Very interesting how you did it all.
Thank you Duncan! It was a bit of a journey start to finish as I didn’t talk about reverse engineering the chassis 😊 Merry Christmas!

Hornby should employ you
I do like it for I think I might try to make one for myself out of Lego
I really like that 😂 proper cute haha! How did you learn the cad side? Any tips?
Thank you Eric! I started out self taught about 16 years ago and then changed my job where I have to use it each day. There are many routes in with some nice entry level softwares. It’s a case of starting with a box or any shape and add or subtract what you need. And be very patient 😊 Merry Christmas to you and your family
Great video merry christmas to you Tris
This is very very good . I've looked on line..the 0-4-0 Hornby chassis appears out of stock every where I've looked...Or do you know where I could purchase one .
Thank you 😊 Merry Christmas to you too 😊
@@muddymarvellous there are various places but eBay you will need to be very selective to find a chassis don’t pay more than 25 for a second hand one and 35 for a new one. But that’s really top money. I’ve picked some up for 15 over time so be careful
@@OONeal ok thank you.. I'll look at eBay..thank you....looking forward to you expanding and producing models perhaps in 009 and advising on conversion to DCC .I'm a newbie but have read hours and hours of material..I would love a 009 and 00 railway on the same board ..00 shunting and 009 circular.."small space" in spare bedroom..it's been some 50 years since my brother and I had a railway..! I've already done a table top railway for grand children . I've some lovely detailed 00 models that I've salvaged bits and bobs from kits over 50 years ago .using my own kit building techniques.. Unfortunately my way takes months to build houses etc..but they look nice..I use plaster for rendering makes kits look very solid .and old . cottages have individual card pieces for tiling .some 300 tiles on a roof..takes for ever..good job I'm short sighted !
Merry Christmas 🎄

@@OONeal appears the only way of obtaining an 0-4-0 chassis new is to purchase a Santa Christmas train set from Amazon for £54. Do you think the running gear/chassis is an 0-4-0 ..? So many stock outs out of stock New everywhere..
Amazingly well detailed loco. Great design! Can we still purchase some of these? I sent an email as well. Thanks
Hi Jeff, Its still avalible on the website, I have included the link below. I'm glad you like the look of it.
www.oonealdesigns.com/product-page/12xx-gwr-3d-printed-body-for-hornby-0-4-0-chassis
Hi Neal! Amazing work! I was wondering, where did you get the model for the 0-4-0 chassis itself? I'm also trying to design my own locos and I'm having a hard time finding a good 3D model of the chassis! Thank you!
Great useful video. Can I ask how you managed to place the loco crew inside the loco as I always struggle putting them into the loco cab on tank engines?
I like the idea for a small Prairie engine i offense the 2-6-2 look a bit too long not horrible but you know what I mean
You can get a hornby replacement chassis from branchlines
hey oo neal can you upgrade the valve gear os 4-0-4
I have seen some people do it but I havnt tried, it will be something I need to learn about really.
think there's a prob with web site im unable to veiw any of your products except signal box, when clicking on quick veiw its taking me back to top of page, stay safe and a happy new year
Hello Trev, If you click on this link you should be fine. www.oonealdesigns.com/shop
I hope that helps please let me know if it doesnt.
Take care and have a great new year!
Lovely model, the chassis model did you make your self or did you download it for reference to build shell around it?
Thank you, The chassis I used the Hornby 0-4-0 chassis which I reverse engineered. After drawing it up on CAD I could then start working on the body model.
@@OONeal ah make sense, I'm planning to make a Single Fairlie from the bachman Double Fairlie
Do you still have these? I'd really love two bodies because I'd like to get back in the hobby.
Could you send me a link to where you get your transfers?
What 3D printer do you use? Thinking of buying myself one in the post-Christmas sales and was wondering which one you used to make this.
I use an Anycubic Mono X which is a 4K large bed printer. It works well but I do not know how the other printers fair.
I would like one
Great!
Would u be open to painting a 37 for me and doing some costume work 3d print work as I whant to have a new 37 done in the 37 304 livery that uts currently in ?
Hello Bradley, Its not something I would be confident doing im afraid. I hope you can find someone who can help you with this. Take care
amazing how you can build this and charge a decent price yet hornby would charge 200 pounds for such a model
Thank you Jake, Its just the body though for this not the whole thing. I appreciate your words though
GWR 1366 ??
I’ve got one of them at home but this looks quite different
