    totally agree on the point that you make about the stigma at Tech that it’ll break you and that you “get out.” It’s creates this stereotype that we’re not expected to have fun during our time here at Tech. Also, as a CS major, I have SO MUCH respect for designers, LMC, and other majors than mine - tbh give me all your secrets about how y’all do it (i can’t write or design for shit lol)

      it’s actually fairly small but when most people in georgia refer to atlanta they include the greater atlanta area as well so they’re referring to a much larger and more populated area

    • @madebyymira

      i was referring to metro atlanta specifically and not the surrounding suburbs haha! like walking around midtown and downtown, it’s relatively small compared to somewhere like new york or los angeles

    Thank you for this video. My daughter got accepted EA for biology. Do you have any friends with this major and if so how does it rank on the “breaking you” scale. She is very disciplined and already has a strong work ethic. She won’t be rushing but I’m hoping she will find her tribe. We are thinking west campus for housing since she won’t be rushing and likes an atmosphere more on the quiet side. Thoughts?

    do you know much about the music technology program? i’m a junior in high school so i’ll be applying next year, and music technology is what i’m interested in. if you know anyone who is in the program, what do they think about it?

    • @madebyymira
      @madebyymira  4 роки тому +2

      Isabella Bryant i do not actually know anyone in music technology, i’ve heard it’s a very small major. but it’s in the college of design i think (which i’m in) and i have to say i love being a part of a small college and major. we get a lot more personal attention w professors and our advisor is very accessible which some majors have to wait weeks for an appointment. good luck!

    • @madebyymira
      @madebyymira  4 роки тому +19

      hey congrats! tech feels very secluded from the rest of atlanta in my opinion, i think it’s very safe. i walk around by myself during the day and sometimes at night, but when it’s pretty late i’ll always walk w a friend. gt police is also very active and dorms only can be entered with buzzcard access

    • @junebug2999
      @junebug2999 4 роки тому +4

      @@madebyymira Alright, that's awesome! Also, seeing as you're not involved in greek life, how does the social scene feel now that you're in your second year? Do you still get involved in events, go to parties, etc.?

    • @madebyymira
      @madebyymira  4 роки тому +3

      Junebug i think unless you’re in greek life people don’t go out as much but they still definitely do. i live in an apartment now so i usually just hang with friends in there. people kinda settle down after first year w like meeting new people and stuff, but i joined a club and an organization this year and have made a couple new friends through that! at tech i think there’s people on both sides of the spectrum so you can really choose how much u wanna be social or not, and there’s definitely opportunities for that!

    thanks for all of the tips! So I somehow got taken off of the waitlist a couple of days ago for environmental engineering but it is so late and I am pretty deep in the process at the school I was originally planning on going to, Virginia Tech. I love how the school looks and the many internship opportunities available there, but I am worried about the stigma and social issues I may not like because I think of myself as a very social person. Also, OOS for GT but in state for GT? Would you say its worth the risk to go to GT and withdraw from VT if I can afford it? I only have a week and a half to decide lol. thanks for all of the help!

    You mentioned how its hard to double major or even minor and the heavy STEM emphasis @ GT. I will be an aerospace major- but I am set on minoring in a foreign language. Do you have any perspective on this?

    • @heyitsizzy5496
      @heyitsizzy5496 4 роки тому +2

      Brenna Huang hey! If you really want to do a foreign language and can’t find room for a minor another great way to get that outlet is through their international plan. I’m not sure about the extent to which AE’s participate but I’m an incoming freshman in ME planning on doing the Chinese language IP it is a great way to get a foreign language experience (you can also get a foreign language distinction on your diploma with a few more classes) and an international experience (if you want to study abroad) all in one. I highly recommend checking it out. I can’t give you first hand experience to say whether it is worth it or not but it probably is at least worth checking out :)
