    Welcome back to the Stephen King Book Club! Today's episode is in a podcast format with lots of eerie images of the Overlook Hotel... and if you lost carefully, you might notice some ghost sightings!
    This episode brings the ruins of the Overlook back to life as we explore the hotel's disturbing past... including the downward spiral of Jack Torrance.
    A lot of love (and more than a little obsession) went into making this video. Enjoy, Constant Readers!

    I hadn't a clue that the "Overlook" has so much infamy. I assumed that it was like any other hotel with many warm bodies, turned cold. I didn't know of any correlation, but now, I am spooked by my encounters in Colorado, that may have a deeper meaning. I am stunned by the authors' great investigation on historical fact, folklore, and willing to bring all perspectives. I am, as always, in awe and spooked! Great story- telling voice, eloquent and spell-binding!

      A work of fiction is usually a composite of many actual places in real life, since the actual place in the fictional novel doesn’t really exist, we can all have a sense of familiarity and suspend our disbelief when we are reading a fictional novel, this is what is known as the hallmark of a good writer.

      It did the same to me, which is intriguing. It could mean that the host is lying, and he really does stutter when he’s nervous, which calls into question how reliable he is. It could also be a hint about Jack’s shining, which he suppressed with booze, and Danny later would as well. Maybe Jack sensed something stutter-ish about the host, like that he would develop a stutter in the future. It definitely upped the severity, and the connection the host had to the Overlook, but if you think about it logically, the stutter itself isn’t scary. I think it’s very well used, regardless.

    Excellent job!! I always felt this aspect of the story was far more intriguing than the Shining itself. Keep up the great work! Subbed

    A bit random I know, but your talking about the mountain road brought this upfront in my memory. The stanly (the hotel that inspired the overlook.) when it became a hotel, would rent out these cars to take around the roads. It should go without saying they were made before they had seatbelts. you can actually see one such care on the grounds.

    A handful of years ago, I lived in a small town just south of Fort Worth TX. We had a garage sale on my birthday in late April, the 22nd to be exact. Our garage sale was snowed out, in April, in Texas.

    I've never really been a Stephen King fan but somehow your video got recommended to me and hoky cow what a well done production! Been binging your other videos and subscribed cuz they're just so clever and well produced, and I love the way you've taken this tiny side character and given him a really neat way to interact with the aftermath of so many stories! Very well done 👏👏👏

      Thanks so much... I've grown quite attached to that tiny side character known as George Hatfield... We've got him busy working on another podcast... this one in the vicinity of Salem's Lot!

    Fascinating! May I ask, was the stutter at the end supposed to indicate that our narrator was not a reliable one and he dis stutter as a youth? Or was it to suggest that the influence of the ghost forced him to acquire a stutter that he never had before?

    • @stephenkingbookclub1054
      @stephenkingbookclub1054  Рік тому +2

      I'm a big fan of unreliable narrators in stories... but I guess only George Hatfield knows the answer... and we haven't heard from him since his last assignment took him to the South Pacific ;)

      @@stephenkingbookclub1054 Haha, fantastic! Your videos are excellent - both these unique creative ones, and your insightful analytical ones (I love the one on Jaunting that you released today). I have subscribed (and note: horror is far from my favourite genre, I am subscribing not from a passionate love of King - although I do enjoy his work - but due to the quality of your videos!)!

    99 thousand now. 😉 Glad to have found it! Thank you. Now, I guess I might have to check out a few more of these. I’m pretty sure I have read every book/short story that ‘our’ impressive Stephen King has written. (I’m reading one of his newest books now).
    But, I learned more about the Outlook Hotel here than I knew about it before!
