What to expect on the fostering assessment panel?

When you contact Orchard Fostering about fostering, there are a number of steps that are followed before you begin your assessment process to ensure that fostering is the right fit for you.
An initial enquiry form is completed over the phone with our fostering advisor. During this call, a number of basic questions are asked to ascertain your availability and suitability for fostering.
If this call is successful and both sides wish to proceed to the next stage, an initial visit occurs. This initial visit is carried out by one of our social workers in your home so that they can meet you, and if applicable meet your partner and children, to discuss fostering more in depth and explain what the assessment process will look like if you move forward.
Following a successful initial visit, arrangements are made between the applicant and Orchard Fostering to begin the fostering assessment, including Garda/Police checks, a medical, obtaining references and attending training.
