"Song of General Kim Il-sung", is a DPR Korean song widely used on television, during parades and within documentaries to praise Eternal President, Kim Il-sung. It was composed by Kim Won-gyun in 1946, with its most unique playings broadcasted during the tests of both Kwangmyŏngsŏng satellites.
The footage within the video has been taken from the Korean documentary "Working Together for the People", the documentary film "60th Anniversary of the Korean People's Army" and various others.

Life in North Korea during Kim Il-sung was prospered than the South. When the Soviet Union collapsed in 1991 and Kim Jong-il rise to power in 1994, everythings gone horrible.
They are prospering again though. ^^
It wasn't even Kim Jong-Il's Fault the DPRK was in such a deplorable state after the USSR collapsed. That can be blamed on the US and it's sanctions during the Arduous March.
Kim il sung had some merits as well as defaults. Kim jong il can, however, be considered to be one of the most depraved, incompetent and stupid despots to have ever ruled. The famine was to a large extent the result of his decisions. by the late 1980s he was already in control and he was also the mastermind behind epic fails like the ryugyong hotel.

My grandfather was born in 1932 in Chosen, Japanese territory, Cholsan County in today's DPRK. After the independence of the Korean peninsula, he moved to Seoul with only two brothers, leaving other brothers behind. Later, he fought on the side of the South in the Korean War and passed away in Seoul in 2017. My grandfather wanted to go home, but he died without being able to do so. It's interesting to listen to North Korean songs objectively, excluding emotions.
내 할아버지는 1932년 일본령 조선, 현재 조선민주주의인민공화국 철산군에서 태어났습니다. 한반도 독립 이후 할아버지는 남은 형제들을 두고 두 형제와 함께 서울로 내려왔습니다. 그리고 한국 전쟁이 발발하자 남한 편으로 참전하셨고 지난 2017년 숨을 거두셨습니다. 내 할아버지는 고향에 가고 싶어하셨지만 그러지 못하고 세상을 떠났습니다. 여러 감정을 뒤로 하고 이 노래는 할아버지의 일생을 생각나게 합니다.

A fun fact: Kim Il-sung assumed power in the DPRK by being elected by the Korean people following World War 2. Amongst the other alternatives for the DPRK were Ho Ka-i, a Russian born Korean who represented the Soviet supporting bloc, and Choe Chang-ik, a former member of the Chinese 8th Route Army.

Paektu is the highest peak in the Changbaek Mountains. Changbaek means "forever white", Paektu means "white head".
