  • Finishing the roof and installing some plexiglass windows that can be removed in the hot summer months. Plan to paint the dog house once the pressure treated drys out. When I find some cedar shingles I will install them on the awning.

    Thumbs down... treated lumber with no dust collection or mask? Cant take you seriously. Sorry.

      Then you would have hated me if I posted a video of the massive fence I just built. But I find the best protection against pressure treated dust is to close your eyes and hold your breath while you make any cuts.

    It’s actually a very well written and comprehensive book ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxhgbP-6hUnXu_QRaoHgLztgsI0YF3HqR0 . I wanted to pair this with an updated book on local codes to start planning a post-retirement dream shop. I think I have just about everything I need between the two. The extra plans available for purchase towards the end are priced almost as much as full home plans, not little sheds however.

    It was a great job. But it must have cost a arm and leg. All treated lumber, made with 2x and 1x plus real shingles. About 300 or so? I would have build the same thing but less than half the cost with pallet wood. But who am I to judge? You did a good job

    Dog House Build 2.0 ..... A two story one side? So you could enter and have a bench to sit on. Then you could have a place to cool off doing yard word. A little insulation and drywall? Plus something like a ClimateRight 2,500 BTU Portable Air Conditioner, Heater, Fan, and Dehumidifier with Remote Control ( - : Then Off grid with solar shingles and Yeti battery silent generator? Polish it off with a styrofoam ice chest ..... and don't forget a bird "HOUSE" for the icing.

    I just built one of these but haven’t laid the shingles yet. Shouldn’t there be tar paper or is it not really necessary on this dog house?

    Good project. I'm from Peru and I'm trying to make an equal but I still can't find the material to make the roof, one option would be to do it with plywood on a base but I like the material you used more, it would help me a lot if you told me the trade name and brand of that material . Thank you.

      I remember correctly on the roof I probably used 1/2" plywood like this one. www.homedepot.com/p/12mm-Sande-Plywood-1-2-in-Category-x-4-ft-x-8-ft-Actual-0-472-in-x-48-in-x-96-in-454532/203414055
      Then I used roof felt. Either 15# or 30# www.homedepot.com/p/Warrior-Roofing-30-216-sq-ft-Felt-Roof-Deck-Protection-414-0/100086691
      Then just normal 3 tab asphalt shingles

    What's the cost to build a house like this?

    • @Foleywoodworking
      @Foleywoodworking  7 років тому +8

      Atar Buck the cost to build this exact dog house was $300 but I seriously over built it. I built the entire thing out of pressure treated lumber.

    What angle are the cuts for the roof?

    • @Foleywoodworking
      @Foleywoodworking  6 років тому +2

      Travis Place if I remember correctly the 2x4 roof supports were cut at 55 degrees on each side. You can choose any angle you want was long as you cut the same angle on the other end of the board. The matching angles are necessary to give you a nice flat surface to mount your fascia boards.
