      @@bmtspain6839 Extremely useful! I feel like I have a totally new forehand. I tried using it with my forehand volley and my one handed backhand with some success. I’m very happy. 👍😊

    Fascinating stuff Dominique.
    I've felt this "turn of hand>flexion>finish" exactly as you describe it before, but was too focused on other technical aspects to connect with it. I concur with others, you explain it well here in this video. I've always struggled a bit with my forehand. I will definitely give this a go when I play next.
    As to my backhand - it is by far and away my best shot. I watched your single-handed backhand video and my backhand is very similar to what you teach. I arrived at my technique myself by using the analogy of throwing a frisbee. It has worked well for me, and I do not even think about technique when I hit my backhand. But I think too much about technique on my forehand.
    We've communicated via UA-cam before, and you have some very interesting ideas. Congratulations Dominique.

    As simple as it might be your "flexion & finish", I who am a Dojokovic fan , observe that he has a different turn of the shoulder and elbow finish very different and well marked unlike the others and also I consider him the best forehand ever: safest, very spinned most reliable, stable, deep and agressive at the same time. Most of the times hitting al chest high.
    And by seeing you is what he exactly does.

    This video explains your "playing out of the hand" concept much better than the prior videos. It might be even clearer if you showed a close-up/slow motion of the hand and wrist.

      @@bmtspain6839 Yes, I now understand what you were trying to teach there after having watched this FH video. (1) I think the flexion discussion is much clearer here. (2) Also, here you usefully explain the purpose and limits of "playing out of the hand" including how it is useful for beginners and differs from the pro style. (3) Will you be doing a "playing out of the hand" serve video? For future "playing out of the hand" videos, consider including a close-up/slow motion of your hand to help further clarify the lesson. (4) I found the BH video most useful in this series.

      @@snowy6753 the serie out the hand is different to the serve because the flexion happens first and pronation follows where in the serve the pronation starts before the hand ( flexion ) so it could be a little confusing, but I’ve been thinking about 😎

    When I first saw this video, I thought this was horrible advice. It seemed all backwards and focusing on turning the hand against the ball seems to go against all the conventional wisdom--keeping the contact zone stable and not wrsiting the ball. But, in fairness I thought I'd give the concept a try--maybe out of desparation. But turning the hand helped me focus on my contact point, drive better throught the ball and added weight and depth to the ball. It's not that you are making the stroke wristy, you are letting the momentum of the swing carry through at that point. And he is right, once you get a feel for it you can then incorporate it into a hip driven stroke using the kinetic chain. Another plus if you are late, off balance or on defense just execute the turn of the hand and you'll be amazed at what happens. Good advice despite my disbelief.

      @@SquatLife thanks for the comment and I’m glad you tried it . A lot of people are in that disbelief because it was mis presented how to use the wrist . It’s not flicking or snapping !!!! Turning the racket out of the hand is starting flexion but once you made contact it’s finished unless you really focus on snapping which off course we don’t want . That principle you can use for all the strokes minus the slice.
      Good luck and try also to finish over that shoulder in the same swing

    Excellent way of teaching. I just want to know, what you mean by flex against the ball? Is it flexing the extended wrist? Will that not be like slapping the ball? Kindly clarify.

    • @bmtspain6839
      @bmtspain6839  10 місяців тому +2

      Yes you can call it slapping if you want , it’s indeed going from that extended position making a flexion motion but we don’t do a complete flexion ( which would be slapping ), the flexion motion goes until the neutral position of the hand or just a little bit past that position ( if I would do a complete flexion my racket tip would be pointing to the left before start to bend my arm or going to the left with my arm and there would also be no pronation ) and from there the pronation and internal shoulder rotation takes over
      Hope it’s more clear now

  • @watcher687

    I don’t get it. Isn’t “flipping”/flexing the wrist forward into contact as you show a bad idea? I thought it should be rotation of the arm counterclockwise instead.🤔

    • @bmtspain6839
      @bmtspain6839  9 місяців тому

      Without flexion you stay in extended wrist position which means you can only do pronation ( spin ) and contact has to be way in front to have racket in right position . You flexion against the ball which will only go to neutral position ( NOT flipping your wrist in a 180 degree angle) and that flexion part is making forward action or say racket head speed . The moment you made contact you can say you flexion has finished and pronation takes over which if you would flip it all the way ( 180degree ) that pronation would be difficult to do . Hope it’s more clear

      With a neutral wrist at contact you can only hit the ball by your side, not in front . The wrist needs to remain cocked (extended) in order to hit it out in front.

      @@watcher687 you don’t understand, you flexion until neutral !! You don’t make contact at neutral !! Your wrist position will change from 90 ( 100 depending grip and how loose you are in wrist ) to about 40-60 depending where you take contact. But flexiongoes through contact until neutral

    I like your T-shirt's logo 😀, honestly your video will generate some waves in the community and will be a bit controversial. There are some dedicated videos online that would teach you how not to flex the arm. I will give it a try. I definitely lack consistency. I was always taught to "Pat the dog" and close the racket face, from there I do not know if I can get the flexing.

    • @bmtspain6839
      @bmtspain6839  10 місяців тому +2

      Flexion is a very natural thing , you do it a hundred times a day in your daily movements!! Going to the ball with your hand without forcing your body is also something very natural !!
      Every racket sport is played out of the hand except tennis 🤔🤔
      The most important part for you if you start is NOT to squeeze to hard on the racket because that will limit the action!!
