Terrible choice to listen to while at work... It is so hypnotizing that productivity went down to zero. LOL Love this son and the whole Clepsydra time line in the Athens 2004 opening ceremony.
I strongly admire the magnificent architecture legacies and sophisticated sculptures like Nike or Venus, love from China, another ancient civilization.
Ever since I heard this music during the opening ceremonies at the 2004 Olympics I have been wondering what this music was!! Finally found it...thanks so much for posting it
The sequence of the music increasing rhythm and high arpeggios as Alexander III 6:10 rides past ushering in the Hellenistic era gives me primordial chills, like that’s the music he would have heard, and filled his head with wonder, it’s almost as if the viewer is going on the same journey as the ancients. The Athens 2004 parade procession that’s synchronized with this track is truly a testament to the people of Hellada!
I remember this music as the backdrop to "Clepsydra" -- a parade of Greek history during the Athens Olympics opening ceremonies. I so loved those opening ceremonies and watched it with a Greek friend of mine, who was so proud that the games returned to Greece! I love this music so much, and it reminds me of those Olympics, watching them that night with my dear friend.❤
I can watch this a million times over and never get tired of it. Sadly, there are many places in Athens and Greece that are not as beautiful and tranquil these days.
In Greece we say that someone really dies when he is finally forgotten. In that sense Apostolos is alive . He lives in your heart and in the souls of those who loved him. I wish health and prosperity to you and to all argentinians. Hermanos para siempre!!!
I remembered when this aired , Bob Costas and the rest of the idiots at NBC we’re commentating during this whole segment. It was so annoying and asinine.
Yeah you're right! This instrument is a thracian-greek version of the Bagpipes and it's called Gkaida (Γκάιντα). The song at 5:50 is a remake of the following traditional dance: ua-cam.com/video/yx2XUgkXvKQ/v-deo.html
@Truth prevails That is right as well. There are several names for this instrument. On the greek islands it is known as "Tsampouna". On the mainland mostly as "gkaida". In Pontus (today Turkey) as "tulum". On the island of Crete as "Askomantoura".
To this day i Have been searching for the Studio full song, This is still a recording from the Arena during the O.C . If somenone somewhere manage have the Studio recording of this music from Mr Bhta please send me a message, there is a short extract from Mr Dimitris Papaioannou`s (The Director for the Ceremony) youtube Channel Here : ua-cam.com/video/1Q_8hytZM8Y/v-deo.html and Here : ua-cam.com/video/qoq2A_FohwM/v-deo.html&ab_channel=2BlackBox2BlackBox. I`m putting this out here hoping someone someday help me find this Obra Prima
I don't know if there is a studio recording (and release) of this music. I think it was written specifically for the 2004 Olympic Games opening ceremony, therefore the rights of the music belongs to the IOC. I'm just guessing, of course.
Greece is the most beautiful country in the world.
Απλά ανατριχιαζω και μόνο που το ακούω 20 πριν ❤
Fitting thousands of years of history into a 10 min masterpiece

This has been played and heard thousands of years ago.
The thing with the future is that it hasn’t been discovered yet.
Pretty much the truth. Song is as ancient as it sounds - comes from Τρόυρω - Troyro, back when Greeks used to populate the N. Balkans. Cheers

Is this song made before the 2004 ceremony?
No!
I wonder if there are lyrics in some parts of the song and what they say.
Which album is this from?
Not from an album.
