I accidentally saw that you were on Live with J Cogley…working with quinacridones and eagerly tuned in. What an absolutely informative and enjoyable hour or so. You are such a color Pro as well as a talented artist! Now I am ready to once again go play with paint! Thank you for the inspiration.😊

    The roses were painted unprofessionally

The Quinacridone Gold should be labeled as a Hue, because the automotive industry discontinued Quinacridone Gold (PO49) several years ago and Daniel Smith sold out the last of the stock year's ago. The paint you're calling Quinacridone Gold is only 1/2 a Quinacridone that's Quinacridone Burnt Orange ( PO48) and the other half is Nickel azomethine yellow PY150. Azo yellow for short. So please stop the deception. I heard PO48 is now on it's way out. So please call the paint a Hue of the original. That's the honest thing to do.

Hi Renee, thank you for watching. I noticed that other manufacturer's also continued the name Quinacridone Gold even after the change, I have some of the original Quinacridone Gold and it was a lovely color and can really understand the heartbreak so many felt when it changed, however to add the word hue when describing the color is a great way to pay tribute to a favorite. To avoid confusion I will state the name on the tube when sharing since many viewers request that. I really love the new Quinacridone Gold for splatters into earthy yellows to create a golden glow, as well as the mix I found with the iridescent gold watercolor, simply beautiful. 💛

Quinacridone Magenta, Red, and Purple would give you a beautiful range of colors. Each wonderful mixers and vibrant stand alone colors as well.

Why would a person use the Quin Sienna in place of Raw or Burnt Sienna?

    • @stas61690

I might use it for its transparent qualities. Raw and Burnt Sienna are generally somewhat opaque. It's a tool in the toolbox.

@@stas61690 I’m a happy newcomer to the watercolor neighborhood - thank you for a useful bit of knowledge.

Hi Cheryl thank you for watching, I use it for it's transparency, low granulation, and mixing qualities. Raw and Burnt Sienna are wonderful colors but I find this Quin Sienna to give me so much versatility for color combinations so I use it in my core palette. 😍

Good morning Julie, great catch! I only had ten of the Quinacridones on hand for the demo, so yes I missed the Lilac.💜
