I could be wrong, but I believe Christian Laettner and Emeka Okafor were the last "Collegiate" players they sent that was back in 1990 and 2004. But both players had been drafted into the NBA just hadn't played a game yet. Team USA used to send Collegiate players/Amateurs/Semi-Pros to the Olympics back in the 1980s and prior. That changed because fresh throughout the Cold War they were going back and forth with Soviet Union and other Eastern European countries who were sending their actual best professional players, and the USA starting getting a sense that they couldn't afford to send Amateurs anymore. That's partly why the original Dream Team was such a big deal.
React to Cavan Sullivan breaking the record for youngest MLS player ever to play in a game tonight for Philadelphia Union. He is 14 years, 293 days-old today. Freddy Adu was 14 years, 306 days-old when he broke the record. Sullivan is expected to sign with Man City when he is 18.
The 1992 USA Dream Team, is the greatest team ever assembled. When that guy said that they were the best team from top to bottom in US history, he is completely wrong. I've seen this team struggle against Canada and Australia. There will never be another Dream Team, like there was in '92...
Dream team never faced any competition at the level these teams are playing at today. I agree the Dream Team is the greatest but they never had to play anyone
Hell nah! USA Dream Team played against nobody’s. The world has gotten much better; arguably the top 5 NBA players right now aren’t even from the USA (Jokic, Luka, Giannis, Shai, and Embiid). Now the world has better players, the game is faster, and they have way better shooters.
Cooper Flagg is the one. We have a few players that are INSANE on our 18u USA team that are NBA ready and going to be stars as well. But Flagg is different💯
Straight from high school were LeBron, Kobe, Kevin Garnett, Dwight Howard and more. I think 16 total. 20 yrs ago they changed it so players have to go to college for 1 year.
Not just college. They have to play a professional level of basketball for at least a year. Overseas, college, g league ignite, and overtime elite are places where prospects gave been drafted from
Advanced beyond his years, plays with a mean streak, and he can do it all out there (Although he's more known for his defense). He is gonna be a problem.
Canada has a teenager who is a full foot taller than Cooper. Olivier Rioux. He's an 18 year old who plays for Florida. He'll be the tallest NBA player every when he gets drafted.
Yeah he’s gonna be a problem and all but don’t let that distract you from the fact that Team USA is dominating the other top Fiba teams the last week and just dominated Serbia earlier today. React to it instead of drama stuff.
@@notechb0ss2.05 I watched that game you're blatantly lying they weren't playing "street ball" they simply couldn't stop the run lmao. Pressing up on josh giddey and he was still getting where he wanted on the floor, no need to cope they still won the game lol
@@rfmmike6096 no KD and barely any team chemistry unlike the other teams and we still make easy work of the koalas, Serbs, and Canadians lol yall are screwed tbh im a little scared for the rest of the world 🤣🤣

I'm pretty sure Anthony davis was on the team before he went to the nba too
We’ll see how he performs at Duke. Alotta high hopes for this kid.
He seems legit though.

Lol everyone making a big deal about a practice session, where NBA players are just going thru the motions...
I'm a lifelong Portland Trailblazers fan. I hope we don't win a single game next year so we can get Cooper Flagg!

I wonder how tall he's going to get because at 17 he's got a minimum of 1-2 years left, if not more.
Could be another KD. 7-footer (or near 7-footer) who can create his own shot off the dribble.
I think he’s been the same height for a few years tho so I doubt he’s gonna grow much more if at all
Some say 3 to 4
Hopefully 6’10

Just goes to show again how on the NBA side they support one another, while the WNBA are busy being catty.

Ben Simmons went to Montverde. You know how the NBA fans view him.
Scottie Barnes, Cade Cunningham, D'Angelo Russel, RJ Barrett, lots of good players.

he’s actually supposed to be a senior in high school this next year, but graduated early lol
Huge athletic white guy from New England area, if his name is this popular hes probably a generational talent. White guys are semi-back. 😂😂😂😂
React to USA vs Australia
