  • Some stories are stranger-than-fiction. This is one of those stories...
This documentary follows the story of two men who stowed away in the wheel-well of a commercial jet to illegally enter the UK and the Film-maker, who obsessively sought to find out who they were, and why they did such a thing. His search takes him across the globe and results in a discovery that is both heartbreaking and heartwarming.

As an African, it pains me so much to see what the young people are going through. Many are dying in the seas trying to get away from poverty. Yet Africa is endowed with many riches, natural resources. Thank you for your humanity, thank you for going through a lot to bring the story of the guys whom almost everyone had forgotten.

Yes riches and resources exploited by the white man. Ironically the poor black man struggles to escape his own land and find a better future in the land of the white man who oppressed and looted him to begin with.

Dear Rich, you are a good human being. We need more people like you. I am touched by this story. We usually just read headlines of people going through tough times as they look for a better life. Their stories are never told, To many, they are just statistics, but you, go beneath the surface to find the human beings behind those headlines, and you tell their stories. I remember reading the story of a young man who fell off a plane in UK. I did not hear any more about him. He was just another someone smuggling himself into a foreign country, but now, I know his name, his wife, his daughter, and his friend. Thank you for taking time to carry out research on this story, on the real person behind the story. Keep reaching out, keep educating us, we need it. Thanks again.

The desire for a better life, enough to risk challenging possible death and possibly not seeing your family again had to be a painful choice. In the end closure has finally been obtained because of your passion and drive to bring closure. May God bless you and your heart. What a wonderful, touching, and deeply absorbing documentary! After watching it, I had to sit silently for several minutes pondering deeply about what I had just watched. Two men trying to escape from unendurable poverty and hardship decide to smugle themselves from South Africa in the wheel cabin of a gigantic plane, freezing nearly to death; one of them suvives even after falling more than a thounsand feet to the ground, but the other dies. Is it fate or destiny, or some other inexplicable agency that Hindus call Karma that protected one, but not the other? Is his survival a form of miracle? I wonder. I am also deeply astonished that the UK government compassionately granted him asylum. This doesn't happen often. We need more documentaries of this type; not mindless documentaries that pass off as enertainment. Thank you very much for uploading this video.

Actually, the survivor didn't fall thousands of feet. He fell out of the wheel well onto the runway after the plane landed. What I find amazing is he did not suffer brain damage after being in a very low oxygen environment for so long. Possibly, because he was at such a low body temperature and was asleep/unconcious, and in very dry air this helped him survive. I think the burns on his arm are from hydraulic lines which he had wrapped his arms around, and it is fortunate for everyone onboard the plane that he didn't damage those hydraulic lines.

A young orphaned man at his wit's end, in Extreme poverty, with Desperation for a better meaningful life, and a Lack of any support, role models, or opportunities, seeing his friend already 'making it' in the Netherlands makes him want to fight more, pressure to provide for his family, etc the list is endless, he had a thousand reasons to get on that plane and risk it all for his future if he survived we would probably not be here talking about him, but in the end, it would have been worth it coz his friend made it (even though he got disabled). Was there a better option for them? I don't know but you haven't walked a mile in their shoes, would you really even dream of being in their shoes in the first place?

I'm personally proud of you for your uncommon zeal to get to the bottom of this tragic incident of a human being falling off from a plane over the British sky. Whilst watching this documentary, I saw the desperation of humans trying to escape the poverty trap occasioned by poor governance and lack of care of their countries' leaders. I also noticed on your part determination commitment and empathy. I'm happy you were finally able to bring some level of closure to this incident after 5 gruelling years of investigation. Kudos man!

Thank you Rich, for bringing this to our attention! Thanks again!

What's a problem with staying, God gave this world to us for free, we've made things very complicated to the African continent and just simple for the west...

What a beautiful family, what fine looking people. What great people to have in this world we inhabit, just a shame they have not the benefits that we all take so much for granted here in what we call "The West." It is the refugees, those that seek a better life, they are the true heroes of this story, narrative. The presentation is commendable and has moved my like so few doco stories have. Thank you for sharing. These peple are great people.

Watching this documentary brought back memories of last April 17 when I found one unfortunate person stuck frozen in the wheelwell when the aircraft came in the hangar for her regular check after a flight from Vancouver.
I’m not going into details of how I found him, but he wasn’t Canadian.
After investigation turns out that he was just a 15 year old boy from Nigeria who got into the wheelwell in Lagos on April 13. He spent 4 days flying in there unnoticed from Nigeria to Amsterdam, then to Bankok, Osaka, Bangkok then back to Amsterdam. Then on to Vancouver and back in Amsterdam.
After the find and a few therapy, I haven’t found out what happened to him… This documentary made me curious.

This is horrible. The desperation in Africa is too much. What is the reasons for the poverty and lack of opportunities in Africa? Is it bad governance, corruption or high population?
Anyway, every human being in the world came from Africa and migrated north at some point. Those still in Africa, it's their time to migrate northwards? Just a thought 😮

I born in South Africa and worknin development in Mozambique. Over the years we have begun to see the village become a place that people don't want to leave but become what all places should be; " A warm island of security in a challenging world" . The villaes of Africa have a lot to offer, I think the world and Internet unfortunately don't see this. The result is a young generation thinking the grass is greener on the other side.

Back in 2011 the same idea crossed my mind, after gradiating from university and the 'torture' of looking for a job started, the entire process here is so dehumanising, it takes away everything that defines humanity, Africa is a 'theater' a continent were majority of waiters and waitresses has gathered to witness the minority of dinners feast on a dinning table and we are made to watch and feel 'hunger redefined' by such moments. Canada was my prefered destination, my little research inforned me that South Africa and Canada adopted a similar Constitution, so since i studies law i knew i could maybe secure a job and survive in Canada.

After posting my comment, someone asked me if I was an FBI agent....... LOL ANSWER TO YOU ALL: I am not the modern-day Kim Philby. I would like to be like General Doolittle if I was born in the USA. I am not an American citizen yet, but I am curious, resilient, and work hard. I enjoyed reading Thomas Paine and the great work of James Madison. Here where I am now, I visit and help some US veterans. Many people helped me while traveling. By the way, I enjoyed watching the movie Catch Me If You Can. You have to plan, prepare, and execute well. Sorry English is not my native or colonial language of usage. I JUST WANT TO LIVE A DECENT LIFE AND HELP PEOPLE. WORLD ON FIRE, NEEDS PEACE.

The world must return what they have taken and still takes from Africa without honest compensation or honest trade. The world did not get to be what the world is today and continue to be without stealing from and cheating Africa. This stealing and greed has never stopped. The world just pretends it away while making excuses or lying about the truth.
Africa is the richest continent which was God's plan. Yes, the richest with more natural resources for it's people than anywhere else in the entire world. This was stolen from and cheated out of the hands of Africans, yet people still wonder why Africa is in the position that it is. This was not God's design. Africa is the MOST blessed continent and that's a fact by design. Shame that European greed changed that. Europeans and the west will never be satisfied enough to stop stealing from and cheating Africa. They feel no guilt either, just pure entitlement! Evil and greedy! They call it progress and growth! They care not at whose expense or the consequences for those people. But God!
