  • One of the legends of '70s cinema, a vanguard of the midnight movie, and just as famous for films he didn't make as the films he did, Jodorowsky is not an artist whose body of work can be easily described. Cineastes around the world have been waiting for something new since the release of "Santa Sangre" in 1989, and in celebration of his new feature, "The Dance Of Reality," SXSW proudly presents an hour-long conversation with one of the masters of surrealist cinema, Alejandro Jodorowsky. The conversation will be moderated by HitFix's Drew McWeeny.

    About SXSW:
Started in 1987, South by Southwest (SXSW) is a set of film, interactive, and music festivals and conferences that take place early each year in mid-March in Austin, Texas. SXSW’s original goal was to create an event that would act as a tool for creative people and the companies they work with to develop their careers, to bring together people from a wide area to meet and share ideas. That continues to be the goal today whether it is music, film or interactive technologies.

"Art is to call, come to my heart, beat with my heart, and feel something.
    Maybe, you will find yourself"
    That is simply beautiful.

Jodorowsky is saying really bad about 3D movie, but from what he is saying It seems that he has some prejudices about it. he is criticizing 3D's popping out effect , but it seems that he doesn't consider the 3d's deep-depth effect, which I think is more crucial aspect of 3D.
Jodorowsky once said that when he tried to make 'dune' , he wanted it to be like taking LSD. Well, then, isn't 3D just for that ?

No, he meant LSD in the spiritual and mind expanding sense. 3D is just visual.

Come on, Jodo isn´t a saint. You should learn to read spanish, jodorowsky is speaking facts, Palestinians attack with rockets, Israelis never invaded, the UN and the British gave them disproportionally more land. Abrahamland is an irony or the one state solution.

This man is smoke and mirrors. he is self indulgent and painfully subjective to the point of meaninglessness. Jodo is the embodiment of meaningless modern art. He has nothing to tell us.

Well, perhaps for you. He has told me a lot, and i have learned a lot from him.

Just because U don't understand doesn't mean there is no meaning.

@rosysyntaxYou have a point. Abstract or pretty art might bring the artist a sense of joy or personal meaning, that's fine. Jodo is respected and revered in his own small world, but his subjectivism and hermenuetical mysticism leaves most everyone else out.

The more subjective something becomes the more meaningful it is to you. Apparently you can't understand that.

@@tangerinesarebetterthanora7060 Wow, what a word salad. i.e. meaningless words.
