This is beautiful! Got me so emotional! This is an amazing drama!. Am still not over any of the deaths.. Am happy ZhenZhen is alive and well tho❤️😭. Am pissed we didn't see Wang Shi An die, i hate him so much!. Just hearing about his death didn't satisfy me. I can say this show is in my top 2021 shows.
I kept thinking was it a hallucination with ZhenZhen because she had the pigtails like she did as a student (it wasn’t I know). Ahh Wang died eh? I just wanted to see Chen end him, like that would have been nice ...sighs. I’m with you it’s one of the best dramas of 2021. ^^
@@EspressoAJs yeah i thought he was a hallucinating at first as well. And yes like i was so angry Chen died like that. And his last words were “you didn't let me down”, ah that hurt my heart. Also Zi Lu and Lan Xin Jie deserved better. Also all these characters died protectibg our Xiao Lin, it's beautiful and sad. But Zi Lu's death was so unfair😭.
@@slowbrainrain i honestly cannot decide whether it was his imagination or not..cause where were she all these years? How did her hair get long again? But maybe she was getting treated somewhere and came to join the celebration of them winning the war with him. I wanna hope so😅♥️
Excelente drama...
@@EspressoAJs haha i dont hate they made the story like that it's just that i feel bad for lan xin jie character 😅 but i get it that it's part of the storyline. And it's also mainly bcs Zhu yi zhen's character portrayal in the drama is a bit pale (?) compared to LXJ who had much more interesting interactions with LNS 😄 Since it's not romance focused drama, i love the drama as it is, i dont think i wanna change anything, it's one of the stories where i just feel it's a shame that some characters didnt have happy ending. Since you mentioned the novel, is there many difference than the drama?
Ahh the novel is quite different. 😅 The drama is more clean cut, no spice, virtuous, and longer/more filled out. In the book Zhu YiZhen and Lin Nansheng have an actual affair at University, it’s pretty intense in that they legit sneak into a church at night, every single night. He’s an English Language assistant teacher and YiZhen is a Uni student. They are broken up because they get caught literally in the church. (Lin couldn’t get a hotel room like sir pls). Zhu’s mom (who is alive, think her dad isn’t but they changed it in the drama) is like “you ain’t never seeing that guy again. You’ve ruined your reputation.” Also I don’t think Zhu is super rich either. And so Lin get fired/banned/banished from seeing her ever again etc. But Zhu says this to him before they are broken “one night with you and I’m yours forever.” And she even tries to run away with him because Lin is just that good. She even goes back to the Church and waits for him, but he’s sadly gone (against his will). And so they don’t see each other for a long time. Very different from the book, Zhu isn’t interrogated or anything spy related. When they do reunite, it’s when the two sides are forced to work together and Zhu is married but Lin’s attitude is “idc, we belong together” and they start their affair again. It’s very tense between them in the book because they struggle with themselves and doing “the right thing” but also what they want to do. Duty over personal needs and beliefs. Will say even though in the drama they couldn’t show it or elaborate on it because *reasons* they used , (and this was genius imo), *Leaves of Grass by Walt Whitman* to bond over and show their “relationship”- idk if you have read it - but it’s “explicit poetry” and overly romantic in a sensual/philosophical way. Because in the book Lin & Zhu are kinda like that - they will be steamy and spicy yet philosophical with good conversations. And so they used it in the drama for them to sit and bond over as a “wink wink, nudge nudge and a nod” to how they /actually/ were in the novel. The use of certain songs by composer Tchaikovsky was another little nod because of their ride or die attitude like they’d both die for each other if it came to it. Even the black coffee and sugar cubes was a euphemism 😅 “strong, intense, and sweet.” Literally like in the book. Back in the novel they’re separated yet again like in the drama and such. And kept apart because well they can’t control themselves around each other. Also there is a war and stuff. Lan Xie Jie is an escort basically, working the expensive bars and clubs around town. She’s a single mom/a widow and has her young son. And also helped the agency with their stuff. In the book she and Lin are set up to be together as a cover couple - and their relationship is also super physical because idk Lin is just that irresistible lmao. But it’s not graphic or anything all fade to black. Basically she’s super spicy and fun. She doesn’t have as much depth though like in the drama. She does tell him that she is only alive for her son, and only her son, if anything happens to him she’ll have nothing and be done with it all. Lin understands this and respects it - raises her son like his own, he’s a good step dad. However, when her son is killed - she’s like nah, I’m done with this - but imma do something good for Lin. And Lin tries to save her, but ultimately she dies like she did in the drama. And Lin is pretty much alone again but then there’s Zhu YiZhen - his first love - and when their “side” wins as it were - Lin is like “let’s run away together and elope” and she says “dude I’m already married” but whether her husband is still alive isn’t clear. And it’s left with an open ending with Lin going off to do whatever, Zhu might or might not follow - but given they’re just so intense and chaotic (as comrades in arms, literally) she just might. And so the drama is quite different - but the novel is a very short spicy spy story with twists and turns. It has about 13/14 chapters. 👍🏽
