But it's true enough that Gandalf was not directly involved in the actual confrontation with Smaug, and left that daunting task to Bilbo and the dwarves themselves. The wizard had even more dangerous business.
Loved the reaction. A lot of the material in The Desolation of Smaug and the Battle of 5 Armies are not in the book but are directly alluded to and mentioned in Tolkien's later writings and the appendixes. Legolas was not in the book, but I've always found it fitting to have him in the movie since he really is Thranduil's son and would have been witness to the events of the Hobbit.
I might have gotten a bit sad when She was like "sorry legolas I don't like your dad"🤣. Fun fact: legolas and thranduil are sindarian elfs not silvan. That's why they look different from everyone I'm the realm. Also thranduil's wife died protecting legolas that is why he's so cold and wants the gems so bad. They where for her but she never got to wear them.
King thandrill is one of the elves who fought in the first age, where morogoth (Sauron master) had balrogs riding dragons attack the eleven cities such as grey haven harbor city. This is why eleven eleven hate and fear both balrogs and dragons. If you can remember the scene where Gandalf explains the demon of the Moria and then says it’s name, balrog. You can see legolas actual knew what it was and was scared as he heard to stories of what those demons did to his kind.
As some have said, Smaug is the absolute smallest of all the dragons ever to exist, and yet he is still capable of GREAT destruction. Glaurung, the Father of Dragons who was created by Morgoth in the First Age, was at least 5 times the size and was able to ravage whole regions of Beleriand by himself, and led Morgoth's forces to victory in the Dagor Bragollach (The Battle of Sudden Flame), which marked the end of the Siege of Angband and the beginning of Morgoth's push to crush the Elves and Men of that time. Ancalagon the Black was the largest of all, and it took a whole host of Manwe's eagles led by Earendil the Mariner to finally take him down. When Earendil cast down the great dragon's body upon the peaks of Thangorodrim (the 3 volcanoes that housed Morgoth's fortress of Angband), his body was so massive that it ruined them. Smaug is a lightweight compared to his forefathers :P

So It'd make sense that he's around to some degree. again, it'd be weird if he was unborn when he was literally becoming fully matured as an elf albeit still a bit young. but most in the first and second ages didn't get to live that long before getting turned into orcs by melkor or simply dying in battles with balrogs, orcs, and maiar that went bad during the greater wars between the valar etc.
@@Makkaru112 No one said he's not born yet - he simply never met the dwarves and Bilbo. Just like thousands of other elves living in the Wood Elf realm. Morgoth did not turn any elves into orcs in the second age btw - Morgoth was not present anymore in the second age, and the emergance of the orcs was one event in the early history of the elves, not an ongoing process. It was a schism that happened - the elves who followed the Valar remained elves, the ones who feared the Valar and remained in their original home became orcs. There's no real difference between Maiar and Balrogs - Balrogs are Maiar. Very few Maiar where turned to Morgoth's/Saurons side after the creation of the world - in fact there's only one that turned later and where we know that for certain: Saruman. 18:44 "Very daaangerooous."
The spiders in Mirkwood are Shelob's offspring.
Addie: "Hmm...his leg. I bet an elf could help with that."
Me: Good guess, Abbie! You should announce, "Spoiler Alert!" when you're about to guess something. 😄 Your Hobbit reactions are great! Keep up the good work. 👍
Your smile melts my heart
WE Love you Addie🥰
“Tell your master that I am come,” he repeated in the same voice as before. Ransom looked at him without the flicker of an eyelid.
“Do you really wish,” he said at last, “that I call upon my Masters?” “A daw that lives in a hermit’s cell has learned before now to chatter book-Latin,” said the other. “Let us hear your calling, mannikin” (homuncio). “I must use another language for it,” said Ransom. “A daw could have Greek also in its bill.” “It is not Greek.” “Let us hear your Hebrew, then.” “It is not Hebrew.”
“Nay,” answered the other with something like a chuckle, a chuckle deep hidden in his enormous chest and betrayed only by a slight movement of his shoulders, “if you come to the gabble of barbarians, it will go hard but I shall out-chatter you. Here is excellent sport.” “It may happen to seem to you the speech of barbarians,” said Ransom, “for it is long since it has been heard. Not even in Numinor was it heard in the streets.”
The Stranger gave no start and his face remained as quiet as before, if it did not become quieter. But he spoke with a new interest. “Your Masters let you play with dangerous toys,” he said. “Tell me, slave, what is Numinor?” “The true West,” said Ransom.

"The Stranger Ransom is speaking with is Merlin.
Привет.) Смотрю реакции твои на фильмы. И в основном не понимаю слов.(хотя некоторые понимаю) Но язык эмоций, он везде одинаков. И смотрю потому что реакция эмоциональная очень нравится)
Barb is my favorite character in this series 👍
Jump scares❤❤❤❤❤❤
Love your videos even if I don't love these movies. Adding Legolas and the Gimli name drop felt like pretty cheap fan service to me.
The barrel rapids is probably one of my favorite scenes along with Beorn and Legolas meeting Gimli's father, Gloin! I remember my uncle and I were so excited when we first heard "That's my wee lad, Gimli!" in theaters! I look forward with part two of this reaction! :D
My brother and I were looking at each other during the barrel scene like "what nonsense is this?"
@@shinrapresident7010 I thought the barrel scene was cool... I still think it's cool. I would probably want to do something like that if I could find a barrel and a river rapids somewhere too. It's like Schlitterbahn except it's not.
@@shinrapresident7010 It's a movie based on a childrens book. The scene is a bit dorky for sure but fun!
@@shinrapresident7010 No, that was just awful.
@@SomethingNowhereMan you will die if you do something like this. It's called physics. Something The Hobbit films have never heard of.
Those fish in the barrels were 100% real and the actors really were getting buried in them
Disturbing fact: Bolg, the orc that Azog sent in his place to hunt Thorin's groups is his own son. That's right, AZOG REPRODUCED!!!😱
And Azog is actually dead at this point in the books lol. I don't get why they didn't just use Bolg to start with
lord of the rings and now the hobbit? You must be an editing master by now!
10:02 It's things like this that get lost in this movie because it's so big.
For reference:

12:18 You can see when this movie became 10× better for its audience!
So Beorn is basically a dire version of a werebear?
You mentioned as they entered Brie it was the same scene as the Lord of the Rings, but you did not mention or maybe did not know you watched Peter Jackson doing the same cameo as the carrot eating man.
I enjoyed this movie. A lot.
Hey! Addie when do you plan on reading the books? No rush just curious.
i only have minor complaints but they added some things that did make these movies very good also so its a bit mixed - ofc its not fair to compair this to Lord of the Rings greatest trilogy of all time
What a perfect beauty
Merci.
The man with the eye patch is Steven Colbert
I was taken aghast at the blatant MT. Just horrific to these ears😉
If you want to know what and why went wrong with this trilogy I encourage you to watch 3 parts of Hobbit autopsy by Lindsay Ellis on UA-cam (not a promotion).
I hope , he see ..... "WONDERLAND INDONESIA" ....
You so pretty when there's jump scared
I believe that having Tauriel fall in love with Kili was a mistake. If anyone, it should have been Legolas.
sorry desolation Smaug okay bye bye 👍♥️👌😷😂😘🙏
I prefer the Rankin Bass version.
I can't stand these movies, but I love your reactions... so here I am. :)
The amazing spiderman 2
lost all the dongs of the last movie

Yes, they put Legolas in the movie, and no, he shouldn't be because Legolas does not appear in the book.
Would be even more weird if he wasn't there at all.
@@carven1 No that wouldn't have been weird at all since he's not part of the source material.
@@HH-hd7nd He's important due to the line he is in, Oropher and his kin were very imporant.
Most elves that appear by name in either the Lord of the Rings or in the Hobbit where born in the first age btw and are many thousand years old, with Legolas and Arwen actually being the youngest elves that make an appearance (both where born at the beginning of the third age and are therefore both slightly below 3000 years old; according to the movie guide information Legolas is 2931 and Arwen is 2901).
Theatrical release, what’s that?
Oh, I hate the barrel scene so much.
I agree it goes over the top. They could have kept like half(the not ridiculous parts) and it would have been a good scene
11:11 Yet he takes the ring off and still understands the spiders. Nice idea Jackson, but you still stuffed it up. 🤦♂
No, Unexpected Journey and Battle of Five Armies extended editions are cringe....
Battle of five armies extended edition is a must for me, but it's this film I find that drags in extended form
The cinematic are already too long and boring for me. Extended versions, no thank you.
@@CJR-wv8kc a huge portion of the movie was NOT in the books but some things they added in only pointed to the lore from the silmarillion and the like such as Fall Of Gondolin and Children Of Hurin and even Beren And Luthien. espcially the bit where Nerwen/Galadriel rescues Gandalf and battles Sauron which is akin to her brother Finrod Felagund doing similar things protecting Beren and so on.
