This lockdown has me watching things I would never think of watching. I know way too much about cycling strategy than I need to know. Cheers for the entertaining videos mate
I have to laugh watching this video. I haven't raced in about 25 years, but I've been in the exact same position you were in, getting towed by Larry Nolan at high speed. We were in the M1/2/3's at Cherry Pie (probably '94?), Larry went just before the hairpin at the top of the hill, I latched on, we immediately were away from the field. He pulled for about half a lap at 36 mph, then out came the elbow. I'd like to say I took an equally hard pull, but that'd be a gigantic lie. Amazing to see him still the same so many years later, we could all hope to be in the same condition. Thanks for the memory.
Addicted to these, keep them coming, go through all your old footage and fan footage, refeature old races with new commentary or whatever I just wanna listen to more of this :D
Hey Jeff I was wondering if you could do a video on insight into your shifting for sprints and for countering attacks. I.e. what gear are you usually in for most of the race sitting in and then how your shifting progression works to build the most speed. Thanks
I was wondering about this as well as a total noob. Shift prior to sprinting and start with low cadence? Sit down during sprint for a shift? Whats ideal here
Fabio290 you def don’t want to start in a low cadence. Sprinting is a Lot of high cadence and power. Would still like to listen to Jeff’s advice however.

Aside from your running commentary, which is really good, I mean, professionally _good_ because it's really engaging, what I also enjoy about your videos is that your first ten seconds of your video typically features one of the highlights!
I just started watching your channel a couple of days ago. I played football in CA, back in 2006 and I just loved it. What an amazing place. I came back to Miami when I finished but always wonder when I'll moved back. A couple of years ago I developed arthritis on my knees, so I started biking to work on a Cannondale Bad boy, 25s gatorskin. It has ignited a whole new passion in me for an entire different sport. I am 6,2" 285lbs, but very athletic. I started at 318lbs and I plan on dropping down to 220lbs if I don't look like a wet blanket by then. I never thought of CA as a place to ride bikes, because of the hills and different altitudes. Being from Miami, my only hills when I go on my workouts are a couple of bridges crossing water ways.🤣. But after seeing the roads you guys are riding on. It has me so pumped up here, just watching, I can't wait to smell that fresh air out there. I'll be out there soon. And watching that big guy Larry Nolan, that just finished me off. 💪🏿👌🏾👍🏾✊🏾🇵🇷
Love the white helmet guy at the very end clapping you on the back after (I presume) recognizing that that was an unexpected move from you :) Nice sportsmanship / friendly-rivals moment
Love the way you took that opportunity in last km..::.i learn so much from these videos👍....it’s hard to put it into practice in races in the heat of the moment but I’m slowly spotting these things you are pointing out. Thanks for sharing footage and commentary
Hi Jeff, I've been watching your videos for about a year now and I really appreciate the work, passion and knowledge you're putting in them! I myself made a return to cycling last year, on my 30th birthday after having lost contact with the sport for 13 years. I've been doing NorCal Cycling Video Marathons since, to get my mind prepared for 2019 Crit Season... to bad the season will probably not happen due to what's going on in the world right now... However man, keep making these awesome vids! I'll keep watching, 2021 season will be there sooner than we think! Stay healthy my friend!
Hey i'm French, youtube's algorythm shows me that video, i've just discovered your channel and i like it ! i like Strategy analysis / explain ! please continue what you do !
@9:15 This is the beauty and chaos of Alviso...It is so unpredictable!!! It is unlike any race you have ever done even though it is the same course and mostly the same group of guys every week!!!
I just want to highlight the superior line you took with 6.5km to go. Closed the last couple bike lengths without spending any energy. Good win at the end. Nice to see you succeed using a different tactic than usual. Cheers!
Wow you are really attentive, guess that's why you win a lot! Thanks for the great entertainment and throwback "ahh, remember when we used to ride in groups..."
I'm new to cycling and your vids came up in recommended, really enjoy the content! Really considering giving a local race a shot! I've done plenty of auto racing, why not bikes?
@@NorCalCycling makes me feel better. I'll post up videos of what an Irish Larry looks like once we are allowed race again. Hopefully Ill sound half as professional in A3 (cat 3 to you guys).
Jeff, awesome video. Would you mind sharing your avg. power/ NP for that last attack? That was a long effort. Thanks for putting out some stellar content.
Hey Jeff, I was wondering if you and the guys from Alviso might setup some casual Zwift P-1-2-3 crit races while we pass time during Corona - I'd love to join in some of these races even if virtual haha
@@NorCalCycling I'm from the Philippines and I'm a cyclist too but I'm not that strong but you're videos makes me motivated to become stronger and join criterium soon so I can apply all the things I learned from your videos btw keep up the good work :))

Talking “mph” for speed but then “250 metres to go”... pick a side god damn #teammetric

3 thoughts; 1 Tuna's bike is sick. 2. 9:45 you literally called out when I should have gone 3. damn you Larry Nolan! I miss Alviso
Thanks Chuck! The Tarmac S-Works Ultralight is not the best bike for this course but she is a beauty!!

So much more rider involved & tactics driven world vs Watopia....Another Good one NorCal 👍....That is a sweet looking Madone...

That unicorn Madone though
Man I needed this! Thank you Jeff!
How are there this many riders at noon on a Tuesday?
Welcome to Silicon Valley!!!

Great win! Fun to watch.
Gutsy attack! Impressive. Ride on!
I can't help but get an asthma attack watching people sprinting on their bikes at these speeds, but I guess if I can survive an 80 mile ride..

quite weird racing with the traffic
a 1 minute power effort !
Was I the only one worried each time by that flat bed trailer parked on the course?

FORZA SOSA!!! :-D
I saw there was a Sosa on the Ineos Zwift event. 🤔
Hey man, may i ask you something? These practise Crits do you know if they ask for permision. Im interested in doing something similar on my country
I think they dont, its just a perfect spot to do it. No cars at that time and I think you are allowed to turn right on red at that spot.
Find the right spot and never ask for permission...Better to ask for forgiveness...

About 680. You can check out the entire ride's analytics by clicking the Strava link in the description
Are the roads closed off for these races or is everyone blowing stop signs?
Are you already a sprinter when you can hit 40mph in a flat sprint or what other factors are there?
Can you tell me how did you edit a overlay speedometer?
