Hi, great running session, your coronation class blue livery model looks very nice indeed, the black one looks very smart and unique, Hornby pickups for its coach lighting is quite poor, dcc concepts do a very good alternative that has virtually no drag because springs are used on the axles, I’m going to fit them on my coaches that I’m fitting lighting into, the Bachmann Midland Pullman is a superb set, I have the same set as you with sound, for me it’s the best train set on the market to date, exceptional detailing and lighting packaging, your APT set looks very nice as well, thanks for sharing.
Hey there. Great suggestion! I was looking at those DCC concepts spring pickups, they do look like they’d be perfect for these coaches. I need to dismantle a coach and see what the wiring situation is…. Thanks for watching! Gaz
I had the same problem with my coronation coaches. Both of the kitchen cars had so much drag that the loco wouldn’t pull them. I fixed the problem by stripping down the bogies and fitting brass pinpoint bearings to the axles. Problem solved. At first I thought it was the pickups but it was too much play in the axles causing the wheels to foul on the brake blocks.

I had the same problem with my Coronation, superglue worked for a while, sent it back to hornby in the end
Don’t think I’d have any luck sending to Hornby as I bought it used from EBay. Superglue is still holding up for now!! 😂 Thanks for watching!
