    This is hands down the best video on this system I have seen. They never show the inside set up on these videos. This is very detailed. Thanks.

      I appreciate the comment. I have had so many request’s to do a video on this. I have seen most of the EZ lift topper videos out there and it left me ith more questions than answers.

      A question. Can you use the awning when the topper is deployed? Thx.

    I chose the Leer 122 shell to accommodate my height. I'm 6' and can almost stand straight. I do wish the controller length longer; so if it's up and gets too westhery, it could still be lowered from the front of the bed

    This with either a high rise topper maximizing head space or custom fit with a go fast camper/topper combo then with the raised roof top tent slide in a disco bunk bed would be a killer setup

    Love this system. My only concern is heavy winds. Have you camped out in heavy winds before? If so how was it?

    • @chrisstapleton-ChalkPrintProd
      @chrisstapleton-ChalkPrintProd  10 місяців тому

      Good question. Ive had this thing in some decent winds last year. It’s hard to explain how solid the mounting is on this system. I never felt like it was a problem or that it couldn’t handle the winds. If needed, I would just lower the topper a bit for ease of mind. Hope that helps.

    Thank you so much! You just blew my mind with this. I have been looking at other camper systems that start at 10K. This is super modular and with some planning could be the best setup. Thanks again!

      Agreed. I love how stealthy it is too. I can lower this thing down and now one knows I’m in the back. Ive had it 4 years now and spend 6-8 months out of my year in this thing! Get one!!

    Nice video! A used one is for sale near me. Would definitely help staying in my 5.5ft bed but my main goal was to keep it warm in the winter(this seemingly would make that a bit more difficult vs help), keep out light(doesn’t help), and security at night(makes it worse… the extended leg and headroom would be nice so I don’t have to sleep at an angle and also with my deck system if I had to hall something too tall for my topper I could raise it a few inches…I wish they made a full quilted liner for winter camping to keep out all light and cold

    • @chrisstapleton-ChalkPrintProd
      @chrisstapleton-ChalkPrintProd  11 місяців тому +2

      Yeah. They used to make an insulated version a few years ago. I went to order this one and that option was no longer available. I generally keep the topper down if it gets too cold.But,it does stay much warmer than i thought , as is. Ive got a good sleeping bag and layers. Ive been down to -10 and stayed “comfortable” lol. Hope you get something figured out. I’ll be staying in mine all winter, again. Thanks for the comment and interest!

    Great video and setup! I’ve had the topper lift for almost 3 years and had bad water intrusion only once when I got caught in a downpour. I should have lowered it down like you mentioned. Other than that it’s been a great setup.

    Awesome video! Thanks for the full review of it. I have a Chevy avalanche and a topper with it, the main advantage of the avalanche is that you can walk to the cab from the box in the back. With this lifting system, do you think that the tent can be modified to cover the front of the topper? (Avalanche topper doesn’t have a wall /window in the front.

    • @chrisstapleton-ChalkPrintProd
      @chrisstapleton-ChalkPrintProd  11 місяців тому

      Thats a real interesting scenario. With the current options available from EZ lift, im going to say that you would definitely need to modify that front piece. Id look into trying to find some canvas material to add to the kit you would buy. So you would have to figure out a custom piece for that front entry.I am real curious to see how you would do that.

    Hey Chris, thanks for doing this video. Very informative. I learned a little more about the EZ Lift setup. I like the way you have the shelf lift up with the topper. Great idea.

      No problem. And thank you. I Should have done it sooner.. lol. The shelf idea came after I built the main frame. I used to just have one board running across the top of the actuators, but thought this would be a better use of space and a custom design. I love how it turned out , myself.

    Great video Chris, I’ve been on the fence about getting one of these. Do you notice that going through a car wash and stuff or driving on Dusty roads that the Topper is a lot less sealed?

    • @chrisstapleton-ChalkPrintProd
      @chrisstapleton-ChalkPrintProd  8 місяців тому +2

      Thanks for checking out the video. Honestly, there is a nice 2” topper/seal tape that comes with the kit. It seals the topper and truck bed really well along the sides. I have not had any issues with the seal. The tailgate / topper area is the only place I’ve noticed dust/water getting in, which is typical for any topper. I did add an additional seal along the tailgate and topper hatch to alleviate most of this. Hope that helps.

    • @chrisstapleton-ChalkPrintProd
      @chrisstapleton-ChalkPrintProd  Рік тому +1

      Yeah. Noticed that as well. The company always said lowering it back down resets them, but that doesn’t help. Ive also noticed if the trucks not level and you raise it, some times the weight of the topper shift to one of the actuators and can cause it to possibly jam up, so I gotta keep an eye on them when I first start lowering them.

    How do you handle wiring for the cap’s 3rd brake light or interior ceiling lights?

    • @chrisstapleton-ChalkPrintProd
      @chrisstapleton-ChalkPrintProd  2 місяці тому

      I basically added some length of wiring and made it look really clean with tubing. It tucks into a space when I raise and lower it. Im getting a lot of good questions about this system and will put together a video answering all them soon. Appreciate the comment.

    It needs a rain skirt like my current truck bed tent (~$200). Rain IS an issue in the PNW.

    • @chrisstapleton-ChalkPrintProd
      @chrisstapleton-ChalkPrintProd  9 місяців тому

      I have seen people put a tarp along the sides up under the lip of the topper to help seal out water. Although that kind of takes away from the functionality of this system. Id love to get out there to the PNW soon!!

    Is it safe to drive at highway speed with the camper open so I can fit my motorbike inside?

    • @chrisstapleton-ChalkPrintProd
      @chrisstapleton-ChalkPrintProd  2 місяці тому

      They don’t recommend it. I can speak from personal experiences that it did hold up to about 55 miles an hour about halfway up. The way that they advertise it is that it all allows you to still use your bed for things like you mentioned. That implies that it would be OK.

    what happens if you lost all power I assume there is no way to manually lower the actuators?

    • @chrisstapleton-ChalkPrintProd
      @chrisstapleton-ChalkPrintProd  Рік тому +1

      Great question. There is not a way to manually lower, that I am aware of. This system draws very low power when you raise/lower the system. Id imagine your vehicle isn’t going anywhere if you lose power. Once u got your vehicle jumped, everything would fire back up.

    • @chrisstapleton-ChalkPrintProd
      @chrisstapleton-ChalkPrintProd  Рік тому +2

      They do make an EZ charger kit, that plugs into your towing/trailer harness on the back. Your alternator will charge your 12v accessories or a spare battery while the truck is running/idling. So u could install a spare battery in the back somewhere for instances like that.

    • @chrisstapleton-ChalkPrintProd
      @chrisstapleton-ChalkPrintProd  11 місяців тому +1

      I’m going to say roughly 400 pounds give or take a little. The awning itself weighs about 70 pounds my best guess the topper weighs 300 to 325-ish. Maybe even less.

    • @chrisstapleton-ChalkPrintProd
      @chrisstapleton-ChalkPrintProd  8 місяців тому

      Good question. The kit comes with the lift actuators, the wiring needed to connect it to the battery, and sealing tape for the truck bed. It also includes the canvas camping kits. You can also opt to just buy the lift system without the panels. You will need to buy the topper. These kits are universal and will install with almost all toppers available on the market.

    I have a 2021 8ft bed Tundra and live full time in my truck with a full kitchen and bathroom area.
    Try use 20 mil or thick tarp for your siding. My truck is water proof, also I have the lift on 4 inch blocks and the topper rises to 5' 11", I'm 6ft so it's nice.
    This is great for stealth camping with the top down!!
    Just an idea using tarp instead of the camper package.
    👍
