Armoury's excitement at seeing Nati again just melted my heart. It was the sound of the fork instantly clattering as he instinctively dropped it and rushed off to meet her that did it for me. Without a second's thought he even left his food behind for a moment in his excitement - that's as true a love as you can ever ask for in a man♥️🤷🏼♀️😁.
Used to have a cat named Pugsly, his magnificent father, Barnheart, brought him home from who knows where, gorgeous fluffy marmalade cat with white tux markings. never met a cushion he didn't want to sleep on. Thanks for the lovely video!
That potato peel hack fascinates me! I'll definitely look it up to confirm that it works. I live in Berlin and a couple of my friends live in old apartment buildings that are still heated with in-unit coal ovens. I'm curious to know if this can help their flues as well since they have to have their chimneys swept yearly. Haha this is why I love the Chateau Diaries, you never know what you'll learn!
Do you mean the ones made in Canada that don't need electricity? The heat from the top of the stove creates energy in an internal "motor" and they work very well!
@@chickeyd9579 Maybe? Its just a little fan, you set on top of the stove, and the heat alone sets the fanblades in motion, and then it blows the heat out into the room, so it does not all disappear up the chimney.
This was such a huge escapade doing the chimneys! Wishing you all a warm winter. I find it interesting seeing a château through Stephanie & Philips’s perspective. They find the beauty in focusing on spaces and overviews that are from different angles. I love Amy & Marc’s château & their vlog!.
Being a woodstove fanatic here in Vermont, I was fascinated by the potato peel creosote clean! We have many methods here like burning high Which burns off creosote But I’m going to try this potato peel method. It makes sense that there would be an old fashioned solution to breaking down soot! Wonderful Vlog and stay warm!
We definitely need to try this method on our fireplace!! Ours is Soo big I feel like it pulls more heat out of the house rather than warming?! Any suggestions anybody, on how to keep it from smoking in the house also??
Yay for a snug warm winter by the fire! And now we will be pealing potatoes and saving the skins for the wood stove in our workshop. I had no idea that was a thing. See? UA-cam is educational! LOL! 💕
The tip you got about the potato peeling thing is true. My parents do it all the time, and have never had soot in their chimney. When the chimney-sweeper comes, he is surprised every time that there is no soot to sweep away. 😊
Dear Stephanie and Phillip, You literally turn an ordinary tour into a sparkling experience. No awkwardness just enthusiasm and appreciation for every detail. I love you both. Good job.
How exciting for yoy all, to look forward to winter warmth! I know it will make for most enjoyabe and comfortable winter evenings. Little Pugsly is delightful, and most fortunate to have found a loving and pampered existance. I wonder if Stephanie will ever agree to Philip having a puppy of his own at Lalande. She seems quite fond of all animals.
I loved this blog. Maria cam was epic. Amaury wrestling with that snake, Pugsley, the signatures on the roof, all of it. Also, I really appreciated that the chimney team were so adept at being on camera and explaining what they were doing. Congratulations to all. Fingers crossed for some heat this winter. I bought myself a heated throw for my birthday as the heat has to pretty much stay off here this year. I’m trying very hard not to use it till it gets properly cold though. Doing ok so far, just coping with about thirty minutes of it when I first get in bed (the room is down to about 10c and I’m a wuss about the cold) and then when I’m teaching on zoom or in a meeting where I can’t wear a hat and need to not shake from cold! I have the greatest of sympathy with you lot filming the Christmas videos with hot water bottles down your jumpers. At least I could be warm if I wasn’t too cheap/broke to turn the heating on.
I´m so happy you are going to keep warm at Lalande, especially when Isabell and Percy , Amaury´s parents, Philip´s and Natie´s will be there at X-mas. Older people freeze more. What a sweet, sweet puppy. 🤩Hm that book Marc´s relative wrote on her journey, I would have liked to read!
So happy your getting your log burners in. Welcome back Nati. Amy and Marc are lovely and their chateau is incredible. Honestly I believe Amaury can do anything.
Heat! It’s a wonderful thing! Amy and Marc’s Chateau de Rosiere is such a beautiful place. Everyone should check out their channel it is so wonderful, and they are such a sweet family!
I will never stop saying this: make your room and study renovation a priority, Stephanie. You deserve to live in a nice apartment. It NEEDS to be a priority.
Amazing what you learn- googled the potato peel theory- there are oodles of articles singing the praises of potato peel burning!!! Eureka!!! Mind blown 🤯
right at the end when the turkey was being loved, our own wild flock of turkeys came by. Now this isn't a chateau in France, its a house with lots of other houses in the hills of Oakland right across from San Francisco. It makes me so happy to see wild life all over the world another thing that makes me happy is seeing all the folks I watch on you tube connecting. Glorious
It's lovely to see work started on the chimneys and the lovely colours of the different wood burners they are going to look so good it was funny to watch Anmary fighting with the chimney hose the chateau is going to be so warm this winter
Happy to see the log burners going in, maybe everyone will stay toasty and warm this winter. I have to comment on that stunning view from the bedroom window. Wow! Looking forward to seeing the full tour on your other channel.
My mother-in-law would put a little salt in the fire while it is burning (a couple times per week). The salt combines with the water in the burning wood to create a weak acid that travels up the chimney and dissolves small amounts of creosote.
I wish I knew more specifics. Like how many? One or two? Several hands full? How often? How do you dry peels without them getting moldy or rotten? In the oven? They'd have to be quite dry to burn ...
Yippee 🥳 LaLande will have heat this winter. Nice that Natie is back. Cracked up with Amaury wrestling with the ductwork for the chimney. It looked like he was wrestling with a silver snake. Love your visit and vlog with Marc and Amy. Thanks for taking us along 😍😘
Watch for wilde beasts coming up their drive! Great welcome baby, wine, fireplace and smiling faces. Heat gun, I love that it's such a good excuse to buy one as it has many uses. I love the panels are they fabric? I never saw that view and yes, the Alps, wow! I am subscribed to their channel. The art and structure are fabulous.
So interesting…. And fun. Thank you for sharing! 💞😊 FYI from a vlog on Tales of chateau cavalier du citadel. Rol discovered if you built a fire upside down in a wood burner, the wood burned slower and heated the room quicker. Rol found this info on the internet. He said it was a measurable improvement in not having to feed fire so often. 👌🏻👍🏻😊
@@ditornai-wright5177 you put your biggest pieces at the bottom of fire box then med size on the top put kindling mixed with your paper, light paper set the draft close the door.
I am so sorry you will have to wait for a new heating system until next year. I have watched your shoes for a long time and remember seeing clips where you were living below freezing despite putting in a Geo Thermal system. I do not know how you managed all these years. But the new log burners sound like a great system in the meanwhile. God bless you all and pray you all a very warm holiday season.
Hi Stephanie, that was certainly a fun filled vlog. It's going to be bliss there in the winter with the log burners keeping you warm. My fingers were snapping as so on as I heard the little puppy's name, but he'd been brought into much better surroundings than the Addams family home. Also glad you enjoyed your trip to Amy and Marc. I spent a week in the Ardeche in 2009 and had a lovely time.
Never a dull moment at the Chateau, there will be no need for hot water bottles anymore either. I think that cute little pug is adorable, he can stay for all the hugs. Love and best wishes to all at Chateau de Lalande. Xx💕
another tip for burning wood use only 20% moisture wood, no green wood, they do have a moisture tester for wood on amazon, if you use naturally dried wood it takes about 2 years for it to be dry enough to burn, so your chimney's don't clog up
So excited to see the chimneys being cleared. The wood burners are beautiful colours. it will be so warm and add to La Lalande's magical spell. I need o binge watch the new channel. Been so busy of late.
What a wonderfully exciting day you've had! Fire excitement then a fantastic trip to Marc and Amy's! They're such gorgeous people and their chateau is wonderful! Looking forward to the grand tour now :D Merci et bon continuation! xoxo

Thanks for putting up with us 😉 We loved it - Rosières is spectacular ❤️
I am sooo impressed with how Phillip decorated the old fireplace with the wallpaper. You cannot see how he patched it! What a talent he is!
The heat gun kitchen hack is my new favorite thing.
How many potatoe peelings do you need? How often ?
Your videos are like a fairytale and you take me places and introduce people that are a dream. Thank you for letting me tag along
Your cousin looked like he was wrestling the Lockness Monster while handling the flue pipe
Stephanie- you can actually by little fans, to just set on top of the logburners, that blow the heat out in the room 🙂
