I think I’m just one year older than you, and I obviously grew up with these groups. My sister is 4 years older than me, and when NKOTB were at their peak fame, she was SO into them. We lived in a very small rural town in northern Michigan, and our closest big metro around Detroit was a good 3 ½ hour drive. But when the brand new Palace of Auburn Hills opened in 1988, my sister took 3 of her friends and my mom drove them all down for her first concert, which was NKOTB. I’ll never forget how huge that was for her, and my family too. It felt so big city, extravagant, and with current pop culture. The Palace was brand new and about the most state of the art venue in the NBA and otherwise then. All the biggest acts wanted to perform there. But my sister’s love of NKOTB was infectious, and I got to kind of like them too. Even though I never owned any of their albums. It’s kind of neat that they’re still doing their thing, but I’ll always remember that time in the late 80’s and very early 90’s when NKOTB were absolutely everywhere.
Just magically amazing! Gotta say, I had chills watching this and had to sing along😂…..I’m 47 a surfer/skater from the 80s and 90s and would never admitted to listening to these legends back in the day…..But, I’m a fan….and always have been😂🤙🏽 Kurt, I love watching your stuff, it hits the spot brother!! #nostalgia 😁
great video.i miss the 80's so much this took me back since i liked paula abdoul and never got to see her,i could forgive her since it was anostalgic tribute just to say i got to see her.i wished more former stars would come close to my home.
I 'member my mom would get mad when I'd watch the Paula Abdul - Cold Hearted video if it came Mtv/VH1 for being too risqué lol. I was lucky to meet her & get an autograph in the lobby of the Charles Barkley Royal Roast when it was held at a resort nearby. I told her she smelled really good (incredibly exotic perfume); we were the same height, as I was 9. Very sweet lady, never ages.
My wife's been a NKOTB fanatic since the mid 80s Not my type of music at all but we go every time they tour Los Angeles, usually it's every year. They put on a really fun, energetic show. I've seen him maybe five times the last 6 or 7 years She's 51 and I'm 50.
Thank you. You caught everything I did. Loved this video. I'm totally 80's, this didn't gag me with a spoon! lol! My daughter loves all the 80's music & movies, she's 32. 💗
I saw Nirvana at The Forum in 1993, among other bands over the years. I was always a New Kids hater, but it's amazing and makes me nostalgic that they're going out on tour still, with Paula Abdul, no less! Total older sister music from 1989, so of course, I had get into punk and metal. I was starting to listen to Metallica and The Ramones back then.
I'm a big closet fan boy for NKOTB back in the 80s. I would always tell them that it was my girl friends tapes when my buddies would go through my fanny pack with all the tapes on my walkman. If I didn't they would call me a panzy. It was fun back than.
True story, I wanted to see NKOTB a few years back, I took Michele. We were packed in with a bunch of girls, one girl turns to me and says, “You’re awesome for going with her!” 😅
Omg😂 I was soooo into them. I still sing “happy birthday toooooo youuuuu , this is is your daaaaay “ on my birthday. Had posters, clothes , book covers for my textbooks. They were the shiiiiizzzzz!!!!!
I saw this concert when they came to the San Diego area... It was clearly obvious that Paula was singing to a track... I didn't mind it... Seeing her dance at that age was good enough for me.. And I'd hate to hear her sing, and it ends up sounding bad.. Lol.... But yeah, I'm in my mid 40's and I HATED NKOTB when I was a child, but as an adult I was down to see them for the nostalgia... And they put on an awesome show... Nice vid! Cool to see your version of it...
I’m a BIG NKOTB fan since the 80’s. 😍Jordan is my fav. I have seen them in concert twice. They do pack up the shows and place a good show. Yes, I did notice that Paula did lip-sync.
I really wanted to go but it was out of my price range. Tickets have sure gone up since I saw them in 1990. Still have my ticket stubs from March 23 & December 8 in Toronto & Hamilton, ON.
I’m going to see them tonight for the first time. Ii hear the shows are addicting. I think you’re hooked lol also was never a huge fan back in the 80’s but I love the new album and their music
NKOTB were produced by Maurice Starr, who also produced New Edition's first album "Candy Girl". Maurice Starr was a great producer and fun fact [if you don't already know this] Maurice Starr is the brother of Michael Johnson who was in the electro group "Jonzun Crew" in the 80s also and had a great 1st album "Lost In Space" which contains the song "Space Cowboy". Anyways...you can hear that Maurice Starr production on NKOTB's first album & New Edition's first album. D.J. Jazzy Jeff was doing some pretty good set, it's just too bad that he's not using actual vinyl, but the D.J. software "Serato" [which is kind of a cheat bc it does everything for you, including "sync your songs to BPM's"] which means he's not really using the slide bar on the Technics 1200's that much to match up the beats, but his scratching was good. Where were Naughty By Nature? Was that guy with the long braids, Anthony "Treach" Criss? I couldn't tell & what happened to "Vin Rock" & "KayGee"? These questions are left unanswered.
Unfortunately that was the first thing I heard.. Paula's backing track and immaculate voice. Which.. well, obviously you cant sing SO perfectly dancing around so much! DJ Jazzy Jeff would've been my fav. And love NKOTB even though they don't sound as great anymore. 😊
Very cool. Good to hear NKOTB’s voices. Abdul clearly had a backing track. Cool choreography though. Jeff is a legend. ❤ I worked with his friend MC Breeze and we co-wrote a song together.
15:51 New Kids definitely don't lip sync and they do put on a great show. Lets be honest, Jordan and Donnie do the heavy lifting but they all perform great and have a tight set. With Paula, I mean she's a choreographer/dancer first so I kind of get it - she wants to strut her stuff and show that she still has it so I give her a pass, Great show though!!! BTW... I'm going to see Debbie Gibson Friday night at Parx Casio... definitely looking forward to that.
Clearly Paula Abdul was lip-syncing, or heavy background (read: foreground) track. You clearly know how I feel about that. But props to NKoTB for doing it live!

Keanu Reeves in that “rush” Paula Abdul video😂

Amazing show! I've only seen NKOTB in concert in December 89. I had front tow seats and it was loud and chaotic haha.
Not a fan of NKOTB, but if it provides you content, I’ll watch!
THANK YOU! and I get it. They aren't for everyone. They do put on a good show though.
I took my wife to see them in 2022. They were surprisingly amazing!
The fabulous Forum, home of Showtime Lakers of the '80's.
Good times!

As a nearly 42-year old dude, I would have totally taken my girl to this show. Thanks for sharing!
Kurt “I’m not a big fan but this is my 15th concert I’ve been to”
Used to love NKOTB as a child. Saw them in concert multiple times. Glad to see that they, as well as Paul Abdul can still out huge venues in 2024.
Im 42 years old and my very 1st concert was nkotb in 1988 in Detroit Michigan
Milli vanilli would be proud.

They're doing well for people in their mid 50's.

Mannnn …. you have to do HOT MOVES (1984) it is FULL of great shots of Venice & greater Los Angeles, you’d have a field day!
I’m going to see them tonight for the first time. Ii hear the shows are addicting. I think you’re hooked lol also was never a huge fan back in the 80’s but I love the new album and their music

Inglehood 😂 I’m going to the Christopher Cross concert in SD in august!! 😊😊

his brother owns ALMA NOVE and WAHLBURGERS here on the south shore
Paula! 😍
Very cool. Good to hear NKOTB’s voices. Abdul clearly had a backing track. Cool choreography though. Jeff is a legend. ❤ I worked with his friend MC Breeze and we co-wrote a song together.
I was supposed to see NKOTB for the first mixed tape tour but couldn’t make it. 😢 I thought Paula was lip syncing… lol. Glad you had fun!!

Tonight is my favorite NOKTB song. Am I the only one?
Nope
7:12 Love that song! 11:15 This one to. Love those 80's slow jams.
I had the biggest crush on Paula Abdul back in the day as a teen lol
I saw this show about 3 weeks ago and was quite disappointed in Paula’s part. Not the show it could’ve been. But yes NKOTB was awesome as always!❤
Im 43 and when i was in 3rd grade nkotb was all the rage then.
Great seats. Is this from a security camera?
dam. these some Jamz boy
Great video once again from That 80’s Guy- but, Paula sure sounds like she was lip syncing
Prerecorded and autotuned likely
I was born in 84, NKOTB was the hottest group possible when I was little
Clearly Paula Abdul was lip-syncing, or heavy background (read: foreground) track. You clearly know how I feel about that. But props to NKoTB for doing it live!
I hope this was free.
No way in hell Paula was really singing.
I think new kids sounded the best.
Paula is 62 😮
Paula Abdul no- showed Chicago.
Were all five original NKOTB members there?
Yep! There have only ever been the same 5!
wow paula abdul. that's a big name there. was she lip syncing?
Did you take your boyfriend with you? 🥴
Kurt i love you and your videos! But you picked some really bad seats for this show!!!
Paula definitely lip synching but you almost have to with all the dancing she has to do
