- New Kids on the Block are reissuing their breakthrough 1988 album "Hangin’ Tough" in honor of its 30th anniversary. The critically-acclaimed album won the 1990 American Music Award for favorite pop/rock album and earned NKOTB a Grammy nomination for a companion film of the same name. The new 18-track edition of the album features the 10 original tracks of the album along with remixes and extended versions of hits like the title track, “You Got It (The Right Stuff)” and “Please Don’t Go Girl.” There's also three new songs on the reissue as well, including the recently released single “80s Baby” which features forthcoming tourmates Salt-N-Pepa, Tiffany, Debbie Gibson and Naughty by Nature.

Applause to Donnie for giving credit to New Edition, since so many mainstream outlets refuse to give credit where it's due, unless it's BET.
A lot of the mainstream fans don't even know that they preformed for black audiences first because the same manager that produced New Edition created New Kids on the Block. I remember hearing, "Please Don't Go Girl" on the radio station. Joey had that high voice like Micheal Jackson while he was in the Jackson 5.

They don't necessarily refuse, they just are not aware of New Edition. Fans of NKOTB would definitely know who they are/were but people from the BSB/Nsync era won't have that awareness.

Glad Jon could talk about anxiety and help others realize they're not alone. As far as his personal love life I'm glad he found someone to love who loves him back. I love Donnie’s take on boy bands. It has to be frustrating to not be seen for your talent, but he has reached a level of appreciation where it just doesn’t matter anymore. Good on him 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

I appreciate them saying New Edition deserves that credit. I was an NE fan first will always be... but i love NKOTB. I been screaming for them to tour with NE for the longest.
Donnie has said for years that there would be no New Edition without the Jackson 5 and no New Kids on the Block without New Edition.
And I have been saying that they need to tour together for years. I would be in fangirl heaven.
@@brandyroseann, you do know that New Edition broke up because 3 of the members wanted to do their own projects and the remaining 3 that stayed together and became known as BelBivDevoe, right? The main reason they broke up is because singer Bobby Brown was becoming difficult to work with and wanted to start his own solo singing career. So I wouldn't look forward to New Edition reuniting anytime in the future and touring with NKOTB. I think they're more likely to reunite with BSB and do another album together, but if that happens, there will be 10 guys performing together instead of 9 like the first time they toured together. So I wouldn't count on New Edition getting back together.

They are the only group to have so many successful acts within one group (Johnny Gill, Bobby brown, Ralph tresvant, Bell, biv, devoe) please look at the latest Ralph tresvant interview and you will see that they never broke up. They have gone on hiatus several times.
I have always wondered why they have stayed together after so many many many years. Now I know the reason, these guys are family. They love and care for each other and that is so beautiful!

@Valerie Glenn, I'm 46 going on 47 in October and I'm still a fan. I have an NKOTB T-shirt myself. It says, "Some of us grew up listening to New Kids On The Block...The cool ones still do". It's black and has their silhouettes printed on the front in between the words in white.

@@priscillar3982, he probably did. If that was me, I'd make sure to wear the right T-shirt to an interview with the group on it. I wouldn't wear a T-shirt that has a different group on it. If I don't have a T-shirt with the group on it, I'll get a plain white one and write their name on it in capital letters with a black marker. That's what I'd do to show that I'm a fan of theirs. I wouldn't wear a T-shirt with another group on it. That's just wrong and insulting to the group you interview.
I met Donnie at my work in 2002 at Dublin’s on Sunset. Did not know it was him the whole time until he gave me his card. He was so nice.

Im a younger NKOTB - was 7 when I heard them for the first time. I remember they had cartoon, I had a NKOTB sleeping bag , backpack...tee shirts, man the memories.
I was a teenager in high school when I first heard of them. My crush was Joey McIntyre back then. I still like him. I like all the guys. In the previous comment and replies, they were putting Danny Wood down just because he wasn't feeling well. I stood up for him. It isn't right to insult someone you don't know personally. I said from what I heard, he's a nice guy. He's a decent looking guy. I wouldn't mind meeting him and finding out for myself.
I remember this girl who let me borrow her nkotb cap, & it smelt like pee 😤. I think I just had their buttons

Nobody is mentioning that Danny walked off to go to the "bathroom" and never came back. He got snubbed during that interview. He tried to speak several times and got ignored. He looked like he was getting agitated.
Jared Farley it looked like he was uncomfortable from the beginning, like he was feeling sick. Looked he was drinking ginger ale or a soda, so I’m thinking he was not feeling well at all. Danny doesn’t strike me at the kind of guy that would be miffed at not getting a question-he’s been at so many interviews for 30+ years! I think the guys were covering him so he could leave the interview if he had to without undue attention. They support each other. A True Brotherhood!
You can see Danny moving on his seat and Joe looks over at him like, ‘you doing okay, man?’ And Danny nods at him at 2:33. So I think he was going to be sick and had to leave

This is probably one of the best and most relaxed interviews I’ve seen. And Jon was so comfortable too. I love seeing him this way. Seeing Joe getting emotional and hearing what he was saying got me a little emotional myself. I’m so thankful for these guys. My best friend and I only get one show this year and our seats aren’t the best, but I’m still grateful and excited. To hear Donnie mention touring in their 70’s is believable, so I’m sure I can get better tickets next time. 😂😃🥰

Here in Brazil, NKOTB were the most known boy band for sure... I’ve been a fan since 1989 and I can tell that! So... worldwide NKOTB really started it!!!
No, they didn't! I was around when New Edition first came out, and they were extremely popular. Yes, NKOTB had more success than New Edition, but what Donnie said is absolutely true, NE started the trend with the modern day boy band. The young boys, singing and dancing.

Having been around when the New Kids first started, I have such great memories and it's been incredible watching them through the years. Been to a couple of their recent tours and am excited to go see them when they come to my town in June. Happy 30th anniversary, love you guys!!

This is why they're legend because they're humble. They acknowledge New Edition gave them path to their success. It's different in Kpop industry nowdays where fans of a 3rd gen Kpop claimed their path the way globally and forget the fact that there was PSY, Super Junior, Big Bang, 2PM,SNSD, 2NE1 and more who path their way in US.

The interviewer is purely a talking head. He knew almost nothing about them and it showed. Kudos to the New Kids for handling this so well. They have years of experience so a less-than-knowledgeable interviewer isn't going to trip them up. They WILL get the job done.

Donnie has always been mature for his age and had deep, insightful thoughts mixed in with his fun, wild personality. He was very outspoken when NKOTB were accused of lip syncing back in the day. And he was instrumental with their comeback reunion in 2008. He is their main spokesperson.

I don’t understand why everyone thinks New Edition was the first boy band??? What about the Jackson 5? Menudo? So many prior “boy bands” before NE.
Donnie said NE was the inspiration for NKOTB and paved the way for them so people are making mistakes with their comments. I think "boy bands" have been around for a long time, like Frankie Lymon & the Teenagers for example.
I thought the same til they said "modern day bands" guess that meant the 80s or.late 70s, forgot when new edition came out

He actually explained it. He said the term boy band comes from overseas and was giving to *NSYNC and Backstreet Boys who mostly copied them. They are saying they mostly was following New Edition. That’s why they give New Edition the credit for it. New edition themselves looked up to the Jackson’s and the temptations it’s very clear from there songs and dance steps. It’s just you slightly missed what he was trying to say
