For me the icons set of Office 2007 looks a bit better than the later Office 2010, the icons of PowerPoint and Outlook in Office 2000 looks like it will fit in Windows 8 Metro design with some minor adjustments, the icons of Office 2013 is a bit of a downgrade and the current icons from Office 2019 looks good and vibrant
I'm still using office 97, with Clippy!

I've never noticed the "XL" in the Excel icons! That's amazing
In general, it is brilliant that the abbreviation reads the same as the full official name
Now I can't unsee it, thank you.
It took me 21 years to realize that the “X” in Excel actually had an “L” in the icon.
I didn't notice that either til now!
1:45 You can still see the L in the Excel 2019 icon from its dark shades of green.
The icons of 2000 were ahead of their time
2019 office icons have that fluent material design, like it.
And those icons have been backported into Office 2016.

I like the Office 2010 and 2019 icons!
My personal preference is 2010 and 2013. All the icons are thematically consistent, and make sense for the icon.
Other years have slightly different icons for PowerPoint. It is the only one that didn't seem to get a letter for a while, and in other years it has a different shape to the others.

Why did Outlook change its color from yellow to blue in Office 2013 and later? Its color is quite similar to Word.
True. They could have at least made it more cyan

I think 2003 was probably the last great version of Office to be completely honest.

I appreciate how the 2019 logos conveyed the functions of the apps like before, but with so few lines
I think that 2010 icons are the best, because they show what the program is used for, they have identical shapes and are easily distinguishable
2016 and 2019 is like 'please don't turn me into an oversimplified logo'

For me I think Office 2010 has the most beautiful icons
2003, 2007 and 2013 were the most memorable versions. My family had physical versions of all 3

I just like how 2019 has the same shape of 2010 but filled with a solid color

Nah, the other way around. Metro UI looks like it has the graphical limitations from 22 years ago. The icons from Office 2013 and later look like ass

@@biruniweb i prefer logos that were designed by putting some effort into it. i could make both the 2000 logos and the 2013 and later logos in MS Paint

Currently use MS Office 2019 version. Previously, Office 2013, 2010 even 2007
Once I had 2007 when I first got my own laptop which used to run Windows 8.1 otherwise I either use libreoffice or Microsoft 365 for work or schools.
2010 has the best icons and 2007 obviously

office 365 icons - this is what peak performance looks like.
Microsoft Office 4.2 or older is free, however, starting with Microsoft Office 95, Microsoft Office is no longer free.
Anything is free if you know how to do it ;)

2019 standalone has the same icons as 2016. The icons for 2019 in this video are only available for 2021 standalone
nah 2019 received the new office icons via an update
@@jgadventure Standalone versions don't get feature updates. You are speaking of the Office 365 (or Microsoft 365) subscription versions. They get feature and design updates. But for standalone the icons stay as they were at product launch. Also this video claims to show icon evolution, but it completely left out the 2016 version.
@@vornamenachname9331 because the 2016 version had the same icons as 2013. There is barely a difference. And Office 2019 is only available in Click-To-Run, so it receives patches but not monthly feature updates unlike Office 365.
@@jgadventure Dude. Every Office including 2021 is available at least as one payment standalone version for home customers. [Edit] Also the information that some office version have the same icons is as important as the different icons. So if this video wanted to show the complete evolution it would have respected even the slightest design changes instead of showing wrong information and ignoring parts of history (even if it's the trivial icon evolution of some company).
What about making video with all MS PowerPoint themes from every PowerPoint version?

What the hell happened to Outlook? It has a distinct icon with a distinguishable yellow theme. But now it's almost the same as Word

Word 2000's icon still exists in Office 2013 and later versions. It will be the icon of files ending in .doc Perhaps the icon of Word 2000 is suitable for the metro design of Office 2013 and above.

2000 looks it can still be used today
There are times when I really miss the older versions of office when I'm sitting in front of the latest O365 apps at work. I miss the days when it wasn't so cloud dependent and the current Office suite looks like crap compared to the 2000-2010 versions of it. Though I still miss the old icons from before the 2000s sometimes. From the 2000s and on they became very "boxy" and boring.

I think the 2013 icons are the most memorable and iconic, like I think everybody here used 2013 or 2016 at one point, whether you're 10 or 60

I always hated 2013's icons. They were bland and reminded me of Windows 8 which was a nightmare of itself. 2019's icons are way better.
