+ Kevin M He's not overhyping, he's just hype enough. He commits to every note and everyone else is doing their absolute best to keep up. Plus, unlike Nick Cannon, he can actually drum, so you can just move right along..go watch a stock drum corps while these badasses are busy changing the game. Don't knock someone for giving it 100% when you can't hold a flame to anything he can do. #nani
Adam Heavens though you're making some definite good points, I agree with kevin m that there was some stick height issues, which can definitely happen with fortissimo slams. Also, don't need to knock him down. yeah, may not necessarily be at the level, but he can say his opinion. it is us who do know more to explain and share our knowledge. I do agree though...we are going to attempting vortex on the illinois line this year and I think the head bobbing can help with subdivision, but at a certain point, it can be a distraction to the audience. Part of corps especially is uniformity so if he is bobbing excessively it disrupts the uniformity. As a center for tenors that is a little more acceptable but I noticed the end snare a bit out of control haha overall...bluecoats are sounding great and rooting for them and our fellow cavies/illini drumline snare members this year
Adam Heavens It's a warm up and like a warm up in anything you want to get into the right mindset for a performance, game, etc. Get as hype as you want and then go kick the shit out of the performance, other team, etc. You can lock it back up when you go perform
Loving this.. hell.. I'm simply loving everything about Bluecoats over the last several years. Don't really know what changed with this corps but I love it.
These boys are grooving...i love the look the attitude n the beats...got excited just watching the warm ups...makes me wanna strap a drum on again! Bloooo
This whole thing start to finish, TOOOOOO HYPE! Can't wait to see these guys this year! Man that book writing?!?! Too tasty!!! Definitely gonna give a run for everyone's money for sure this year! Much respect!
Flam Jam is my favorite warm up. Ugh... those basses make it sound so rich and dark toned, and for the snares and quads, its like a personal feature for everyone.
The sleeves also help with control for your left arm. It's so that the sleeve doesn't keep your arm from extending out and not having good control. Quads have both off, because they move both of their arms around, and they need as much control as possible.
This is what I used to love so much about the old Casella/Gusseck Santa Clara lines: Groove, Chops & Style all their own, but amped up a few notches! The kit player is a million times better better then that dreaded dr. beat "beep." It j just feels "good". And my god, I'm going to steal that bass tuning ! I'm not sure if that's anything new, but the chord they create just rocks.
ChrisDrumm Ahhh... checking some other vids, the bass tuning is pretty conventional. It sounds like the bass is boosted a bit in this clip and the bass 5's tone is distorting a bit; but I'm still going to see if I can find a way to replicate this!!!
ChrisDrumm Hey man! It's a major chord. Should be from the bottom drum: Bass 5 = Do Bass 4 = Sol Bass 3 = Do Bass 2 = Mi Bass 1 = Either Sol or Fi (hard to hear in this vid) Example if you are tuning to C is: Bass 5 = C Bass 4 =G Bass 3 = C Bass 2 = E Bass 1 = G or F#
Just in case of anyone's wanting to know why he is using a drum set as a metronome, it's because to the drummers it feel more natural. If you have a constant beep of an electronic metronome, it's almost like it becomes annoying and you don't feel a rythm. So, if you put in a drum set it makes keeping up the tempo more natural. I know, because my band director does this, and we notice a big difference coming from the electronic metronome.
I don't get what people mean when they say that Reuel overhypes this too much. He just seems like he's warming up to me, not doing much different from everyone else here.
Also make sure your not squeezing the stick too hard with your fingers. Only apply pressure on your fulcrum and turn your wrist and let the stick bounce. Make sure you are not trying to pump every note out by using arm, you should let the drum do most of the work for you.
OKAY PEOPLE LET'S SETTLE THIS CRAP: THE CENTER TENOR PLAYER *IS NOT* NICK CANNON FOR GOD'S SAKE. NICK CANNON IS A BAD TECHNIQUE USING SNARE PLAYER. THE CENTER SEXTET PLAYER HERE IS REUEL CAMACHO AND IS ONE OF THE BEST TENOR PLAYERS TO PLAY WITH THE BLUECOATS EVER. AND FOR ALL OF YOU WHO THINK THAT HE IS "OVERHYPED", "SOUNDS MUDDY" or "DETUNES HEADS PREMATURELY": I WOULD LIKE TO SEE YOU DO BETTER #ruenanifrickinnahh
Tanner Henry Being an expert in a field doesn't make one infallible. Personally, I don't see a huge issue with the technique, but that doesn't mean the concerns of others are invalid.
Am I the only person who hates the drum set as a time keeping device? I mean it does the job sure but it covers up part what I am actually here to see.
Fantastic drum lines.
WOW, that's a CRAZY warm-up!! SUPER COOL!!!
+ Kevin M

Adam Heavens its funny cause his name aint even nick cannon
Adam Heavens "changing the game"? not really. good hands, good instruction, good talent..yes.

Hmmm. I guess Nick Cannon lead a 2nd place drumline this season. Thats interesting. Times are changing people. Get used to it.
Loving this.. hell.. I'm simply loving everything about Bluecoats over the last several years. Don't really know what changed with this corps but I love it.
+Cainan Cornelius They're utilizing technology :]
i can't remember the last time i watched a warmup and grinned about how awesome everything was. everything about what's goin on here is cool as hell.
The bass splits gahdamn
Bluecoats best drum line
These boys are grooving...i love the look the attitude n the beats...got excited just watching the warm ups...makes me wanna strap a drum on again! Bloooo
Fred Sanford is smiling and saying....yeh baby!
19:45 HOLY SHIT BASSES
:O
Loose, groovy and tight..aww damn.... my favorite combo
It's the newstyle clicks.
This whole thing start to finish, TOOOOOO HYPE! Can't wait to see these guys this year! Man that book writing?!?! Too tasty!!! Definitely gonna give a run for everyone's money for sure this year! Much respect!
I miss the 2015 coats :'(
Same
I love the 2016 coats but you really bond with a production for the year and people age out. It sucks
Give them a couple weeks to tighten up and this should absolutely win high perc.
Flam Jam is my favorite warm up. Ugh... those basses make it sound so rich and dark toned, and for the snares and quads, its like a personal feature for everyone.
by far the coolest book Ive seen so far. Lots of fun, keep it up kids!!!! \m/
I love the exercise they play for the first like 5 minutes where it appears every icy is doing something different :)
+Hunter Thompson Flam Jam :]
whats the name of the exercise at 12:30?
+Devin Koritzke Double D's
Angelo Jemina thank yoouu
Devin Koritzke - Minus the " 's "
Why do the snares have their left sleeves rolled up like that?
It's just what they do, basses have both sleeves, snares have one sleeve, quads have no sleeves
The sleeves also help with control for your left arm. It's so that the sleeve doesn't keep your arm from extending out and not having good control. Quads have both off, because they move both of their arms around, and they need as much control as possible.
ihatenjoi It's also a tradition they have been doing since 2007 i believe or it might be 2008.
Hayden Chandler It's Under Armour, not a suit of armor. I'm pretty sure they'd be able to move their arms around with or without it.
Because 07 thought it was cool. Literally only reason why
This is what I used to love so much about the old Casella/Gusseck Santa Clara lines: Groove, Chops & Style all their own, but amped up a few notches! ChrisDrumm Hey man! It's a major chord. Should be from the bottom drum:
Bass 5 = Do
Bass 4 = Sol
Bass 3 = Do
Bass 2 = Mi
Bass 1 = Either Sol or Fi (hard to hear in this vid)
Example if you are tuning to C is:
Bass 5 = C
Bass 4 =G
Bass 3 = C
Bass 2 = E
Bass 1 = G or F#
Nice!
Can we all appreciate that this has practically 53,000 views?!?!?! Amazing!!!!!
Go team
Omg Tenors!!!!! And I see my boy Alex Vaughn out there on snare throwing down!!
Didn't know Nick Cannon switched to quads

The Bloo vibe is insane. Squeaky clean and hyped? High Percussion please.
Anyone know what sticks the tenors are using in the beginning?
They're just stick flips lol
Ghost 17 Not normal stick flips. They're more horizontal... Is there a name for them?
+B. Alexander Pancake Flips
B. Alexander pancakes and regular stick flips just pretty much the same thing just in a different direction
Ghost 17
So, they're the same just different.lol. I just wanted the name for them. Thanks Victor Kindermann
+ Kevin M
I don't see how anyone is capable of criticizing a 4 time bluecoat. Especially the quadline
18:16 "Glory hallelujah" lolol
anyone care to tell me whats up with the small drum set they are using for a metronome? Why are they doing that?
This is pretty awesome.... Roger Carter (?) instructing on drum set???? Too too awesome... who has done that before????
I don't get what people mean when they say that Reuel overhypes this too much. He just seems like he's warming up to me, not doing much different from everyone else here.
bluecoats drumline = 0 chill
What are they playing after the paradiddles exercise?
yeaaaaaa baby'
vortex
here before 69k views
That shit's got hair on it.
Thats what I'm thinking.
Can someone help me out? I need tips on not tensing up while playing. I tense up bad on my left and it really limits me
Relax it when you play and try to build more chops on that hand.
Also make sure your not squeezing the stick too hard with your fingers. Only apply pressure on your fulcrum and turn your wrist and let the stick bounce. Make sure you are not trying to pump every note out by using arm, you should let the drum do most of the work for you.
21:04 :)
15:14 Thats the guy that played Bass 2 last year right?
The Undertaker Yes it is
maybe its just me, buts its odd when you focus on one player for a couple of seconds you can distinctly hear their playing over others.
I love the Bluecoats but I am not a huge fan of the drumset
Can I have sheets of music for these warm ups, I think my drumline could use these warm ups for their benefits
Hey, tech's gotta have some fun too, right?
Is nick cannon the center quad?
the dark skinned snare guy aged out? :-( so sad
***** Ramos? Yeah Ramos marched his last year with the Bluecoats and Pulse last year. He was great.

Why are people flipping shit at the beginning? Its only eighth notes guys... Or triplets, however you decide to interpret it
All those stick tricks and he can't even play simple quarter notes in time at :43? What's up with that.
+john deer Who are you talking about? They aren't suppose to play the same thing at the same time in the beginning of Flam Jam.
Am I the only person who hates the drum set as a time keeping device? I mean it does the job sure but it covers up part what I am actually here to see.
Yes. Shit grooves harder than the track your parent's conceived you to.
