To point out UFO Grendizer came out in the 70s in Japan as it was a spin off of Mazinger Z and Great Mazinger. So those who know about such shows are in their 40s and 50s such as myself who is a fan of 70s and 80s mecha shows.
@@FiOthXMachina I will not lie the game needed some polishing as it was rough around the edges but for the most part I enjoyed it. 1. No Japanese language track but I can deal with that. 2. The English voice acting was rather wooden and stiff and especially with Duke Fleed declaring attacks 3. The game is rather short which is something I can deal with as well because I have played games where I accumulate play time in the hundreds of hours such as Dark Souls, Bloodborne and Elden Ring. From the looks of it they were setting up for either a sequel or perhaps DLC much like what you would see from FromSoft with Dark Souls. Now I did enjoy the game because it was done by people who were actual fans of the property rather than "fans" who take a property and dump their socio-political garbage for the sake of ESG. The publisher is also very respectful to the licensed IPs they handle such as Asterix. I was more interested getting Grendizer than I was for Suicide Squad Kills the Justice League.
Glad you liked it so much my man. I'm not saying it's shit, and my issues with it have nothing to do with the production values. Just off-putting design choices.
Thanks for this review. Grendizer was part of my childhood so I will be getting this purely for the nostalgia. I'm honestly thankful they even made this game considering the true fan base is very small and aging. I collect physical releases of games so I will order the deluxe PS5 version from Japan which is much more reasonable than the collector's edition which is a ridiculous £208!! You're right, for what this game is, it's definitely not worth the MSRP -- it will definitely be on sale for much cheaper in the future. I think realistically though, this is the best we should expect from a Grendizer game since no studio will risk spending too much on this niche IP.
Very productive comment, my friend. Glad I could help you make an informed decision. Sorry for taking so long to reply, this is my second Channel and my main one is taking up all of my time. Cheers and take care!
How long is the game? and can we change other languages in the game? I grew on this so i'm very interested in it even if it's not that great. Nostalgia is forcing me here to go for it..
I’m not too bothered since it’s still a budget licensed game. Seeing it through that lens, it is very impressive how much fun it can be. When it comes to anime mecha licensed games, the only ones I expect any form of deeper gameplay from are the Gundam games and Super Robot Wars. As the rest in that specific niche are usually half baked in comparison. This game is just better than what is normally offered.
Yeah, I can understand what you mean. Still, it feels like a lost opportunity. I wouldn't say a 40-50 euros games is a "budget" title though... there are stellar games out there at the same price range (Alan Wake II, Remnant II). Also, have you tried Armored Core VI? It's amazing!
@@FiOthXMachina Yeah man, I didn’t take it in anyway. Just showing off my inner nerd. Good review. I ended up buying the game on sale only to realize I really didn’t care for it much. Waiting on that Gundam Breakers 4 to drop next week!!!
The main thing is, Grendizer has been pushed aside for years since Mazinkaizer came about, making only like, 2 appearances anywhere since then, both lacked Kaizer. Now the new Mazinger stuff has Kaizer AND now Grendizer
They should have made it a Super Robot Wars type game. I love the Super Robot Wars, where Goldrak is part of the team. As most Europeans, we care more about Goldrake than Mazinger 😅
Idfc what you think or say chat. even if I can sometimes not understand BUT AT LEAST he put the effort into making this fuckin review you know why I say this? Bc this just dropped in the Canada and I could not find a review for the life of me and then I watch this im like welp im skippin it due to lack of fun combat....

Actually, the series was created in 1975, not 86 as you mention, ran through 1977 and 74 great episodes...😉
Absolute legend. My bad! Enjoyed the video? o7

@@Pegas105 man, Grendizer blows that live service shite out of the water, no objections there.
Repetitive gameplay
@@darkhadou7017 yes I won’t lie the gameplay was repetitive…
This shit was way better than anybody would have expected. I would love a sequel or flc

They recently added Japanese, as promised. It should take you around 15 hours to roll credits.

Personal preference my man. I'm not judging the niche, just saying it's not as close to the source material.

how long is this game? are there side missions or optional bosses?
Side Missions yes. It's semi-open world in a sense. Bosses are usually tied to the story.
I'm not a gamer and it looks like this would teach me how to be one
Simple controls and low difficulty are ideal for newcomers! Welcome to the hobby! :3
The anime ran from 1975 - 1977 for 74 GLORIOUS episodes.
I stand corrected!
Ah man, I remember this. My 8yrs old self would love to play this!!
Yeah... don't know if we were supposed to watch it when we were 8 though. xD
And then they announced a new series that follows the new Mazinger reboot
Well, it's just good business really.

As a Greek, I have to agree. 😁
It seems interesting for little kids
