I sold this chess board for $750 less then two hours after I posted the video.
I made cutting boards with a chaotic design, and it gave me the idea to make a chess board. I used 4 dark woods and 4 light woods for the squares. The dark woods are Purple Heart, Padauk, Wenge, and Sapele. the light woods are Ash, Birch, Maple, and Yellow Heart. The borders are made with Lacewood, Wenge, and Birdseye Curly Maple. The playing squares are 2 inches. The total dimensions are 20.5"x20.5"x3"

To remove glue from your clamps; 1 Cup, water, 1 Cup Acetone, 1 cup white vinegar. Put it on heavy then dry and put some johnson wax, or dry silcone spray.

You can find scrappy bits at just about any cabinet shop, though you're unlikely to have wenge in their scrap pile. Many will let you get bits up to 3/4" wide from their fall off bits, and may let you arrange to get cutoff from face frame or door stock material.
