Luke the guy who's next to you. Omg!!! He never stops moving, get trap, empty, fill bait, drop in hot box, grab next trap & keep repeating. Then hook & drop, hook & drop. He's the man!!!! (FYI: he needs a raise!!!!)
@georgehutton6232 the hot box is very hot water and kills anything like barnacles, etc. from sticking to the trap so it can keep being used. Sometimes those traps can sit for a few days and collect all kinds of things from the bottom that can cause trap damage.
Only thing he could to do better with the trap is hold onto the rebar and half way up the crab trap on the corner. It won’t damage the welds on the trap and will make the trap last longer.
Very cool man! I'm a welder by trade. Done it all over the last 20 years man, everything from pipeline stuff to fabricating in a shop. Seeing this level of calculated work is awesome man. Everyone has their spot, and everyone hits their marks over and over. Its truly beautiful. Thanks for the behind the scenes.. This is where the love is.. you can tell yall really enjoy what you're doing. I find myself looking for "mistakes" in everything I do, and when i see your guys make the little "mistakes" in the minutiae and immediately correct themselves on the next pass, it really hits home. Its beautiful seeing people doing things they love. The passion cannot be found anywhere else, a man and HIS work...
Damn Luke.. Your guys are machines.. I can't imagine doing that repetition all day.. every day. I'm impressed Reminds me of watching 'Deadliest Catch' on a smaller scale
This is the only thing from MD I miss after moving to Florida. My steamed crab fix! Yeah, they do have Blue crabs down here but they don't know how to steam them. They BOIL everything! Plus they use them for BAIT! These people are savages. Savages I say. Thanks for posting Luke. Grew up on the South River.
Red Drum taste better than Blue Crab in my opinion and we have Stone Crab, Bay Scallops and Spiny Lobster which I'd take any day over scraping through a Blue Crab
Love it all. Sandy Point Light and the Bay Bridge. I grew up there in the 1970s. My best friend from high school lived just south of the Bridge and he spent some time as a waterman. My father-in-law was a lobsterman from Massachusetts and I spent a bunch of time as his sternman. You and your crew have it down pretty smooth.
Your help ( crew) is stellar! Looks like you're using shrimp heads? If so, I understand the cup - those things can destroy a glove. The tank is a curiosity though. I'm guessing it's heated and you're cleaning the pots? Great video!
I just found your channel with your shorts on my algorithm… I subscribed because I found you to be open, honest, creative, wholesome, and a joy in the face of adversity… the world would be a better place if we learn from your life lessons. ✌🏽
Hey bro, thanks for showing that video of operation men at sea crabbing that was really cool, you guys working in harmony together like gears in a clock timing is perfect thanks showing that it was cool.
im pretty new here so im just discovering for the first time all the videos and i actually really enjoyed watching this uncut just work video. i enjoy all of the others as well but what brought me here to start with was my interest in the work that goes into it. (dont ask me why. lol i like the entertainment side but i also like the grind content just as much)
Thats a well oil machine alright. Reminds me of my time on the west coast trollers. Setting out 6 mainlines, 60 to a hundred hooks per main. Pulling 2 mains at a time. One on slow retrieve, one on fast retrieve. Just as you got the first one hauled the second mains hooks would be coming up. Set the first main to slow return so you are Setting one while checking the second. As the first one hits the stoppers you start to retrieve the third at slow and set the second main back out. As it hits the stopper you start to retrieve the 4th main and then finish checking the third. And so on. Constant repeat from 4:30 am till 8:00 of 9:00 pm. Theres no way i could keep up now. Still loved it and should have kept with it. Things were good back then.
Ive always been fascinated by crabbing, lobster-ish, fishing etc bit i know my body is too broken to pull off that repetition now. Maybe im so fascinated because i didnt grow up near water and have barely spent any time on boats. Idk but id love to go out with you guys one time either way. Keep up the amazing work!
I dont care what it is, watching people who are good at what they do is a pleasure. If you're a boss at picking up dog shit and want to record it ill watch you too.
Yall catching anything out there?! Fished them waters most of my life moved away like 4 to 5 years ago. Miss that job damnesr everyday of my life man. Crazy peaceful beautiful dam near every morning besides shitty rainy days haha. Job is like a once in life time type job love it
Maybe it is because I drive a desk, but this work is just calming & enjoyable to watch. What is in the tank that the re-baited traps soak in for a moment?
Really interesting watching this. I crab fished in the Bering sea and we pulled 800lb pots up,got the king crabs out, re-baited pots and launched them back in almost the same time he gets his little crabs out, re-baits and stacks the little traps. Nice easy work, home every day, no heavy gear. I would love this job.
I see the first generation rail crabbing robot has very little glitches , invest in that guy, Captain robot will shine , together you will grow a larger business . A very successful business identifies the men and women that have the owners mentality, the ones that always have the companies best interest in mine , the ones that will grind it out . Promotes them into higher level jobs , building more success, more responsibilities. The company needs to be looking out to the future for more revenue and ways to grow. Training another person to fill his shoes is part of the process. Keep him oiled up and happy. I'm sure you don't have a line of people fighting for that job day in and day out, they all want to be door greeters at the dollar store.
If I remember correctly from previous videos, the tank of water is for cleaning the pots,. Why do you bait the pots, then stick them into the cleaning bath? wouldn't the hot water cook the bait a bit?
Wow as a kid in 1970 we were catching big crab and more then you could carry it is sad i loved fishing and cabing been in florida for 43 years i left MD to Join the USCG and ened up here in Florida but i had 18 years of fun in MD
Have you ever tried putting the bait in the pots after sterilizing them? I wonder if the crabs aren’t attracted to the bait as much if it gets dunked in the sterilizing solution
hey Luke I tell you man I really enjoyed this video y'all really work hard y'all well-earned yalls money brother I enjoy watching your show have a blessed day and I hope you have many many more and you all be safe out there and have a very blessed day 🙏
Is there no radio playing because of you tube? Id put on concrete boots and swim after one day working that hard in total silece😂😂😂. Even rap would be better than nothing and that about as close to torture as you can get 😂😂😂😂
Curious, you bait the pot before dunking them in the hot water that you use to "clean" the pots of algee and what not... does that not affect the "freshness" of the bait making it not as "areomatic" so to speak for the crabs? Have you any anecdota stories of before the practice was perormed or a/b testing?
Can someone explain why they put the bait in the pots, THEN dunk it in the hot bath? Shouldn't you dunk it in the hot bath THEN add your bait? So the water doesn't wash away all that scent? 🤷♀️ I don't know...I'm not a crabber. I just watch one on UA-cam 😊
You a good one Luke if I ain't averaging 15_20 crabs to the pot I can't afford to go that's why I'm constantly moving I'd be outa business if I had to pull 600 pots a day like that it be bad days for me
Did some research on you, noticed you work with jimmys seafood, I know the owner, went to his engagement party when he married Penelope at the sagamore in fells point, very nice man.
call me crazy but i would love to come out for a couple of days and go crabbing and of course help as a deck hand, just something different then trolling out here in san diego on my boat, Gabe
OK I don’t understand emptied the pot put the bait in the pot, put the pot in the hot water and stack the pot. Does the bait lose its flavor for the crabs to find it in the water there’s no sense please explain love your videos.
How come you guys dip the traps in that tank with water? I'm a Maine Lobstermen, this is very interesting to me. Our lobsters have stopped coming into the bays in the summer because of the water being so warm now... have you guys seen anything like that?
That guy dumping the pots is a freaking machine.!
Heck yea once we get in a rhythm it flows like water good teamwork
Luke the guy who's next to you. Omg!!! He never stops moving, get trap, empty, fill bait, drop in hot box, grab next trap & keep repeating. Then hook & drop, hook & drop. He's the man!!!! (FYI: he needs a raise!!!!)
What is the hot box used for? I can see there is water or somthing in it
Wow...he works like a rat on crack
@georgehutton6232 the hot box is very hot water and kills anything like barnacles, etc. from sticking to the trap so it can keep being used. Sometimes those traps can sit for a few days and collect all kinds of things from the bottom that can cause trap damage.
Does the bate need to go through the hot water?
Cause I would have the third guy do that. He stands around too much.
Boiling Any Seafood Is Wrong ! I Tell You. Wrong!!! Lol.
They make good bait
Red Drum taste better than Blue Crab in my opinion and we have Stone Crab, Bay Scallops and Spiny Lobster which I'd take any day over scraping through a Blue Crab
@@bourbontrail565 and tomorrow I want you to add water to skillet when cooking your eggs do you understand?
Butter, I don’t understand. Thanks.
As a Maryland lifer, this is definitely a meditation video for me. So little wasted motion. Hope your pots stay full this summer

Love watching your process Luke. Thanks for the show.
I see you almost every morning and I always honk from the bridge 😂
Your man on the rail has a great move when he grabs the pot flips open the bait hatch and the door ...in smooth moves!
Well done!
Not your first day😅
You guys work together like a well oiled machine. These guys are work animals. Well done men.
Your vlog content is good but I always enjoy watching people work too. its a nice insight into the hard work you speak of.
Teamwork, rhythm, muscle memory and speed. I like it.
Hey bro, thanks for showing that video of operation men at sea crabbing that was really cool, you guys working in harmony together like gears in a clock timing is perfect thanks showing that it was cool.

Yes please do tell.
I dont care what it is, watching people who are good at what they do is a pleasure. If you're a boss at picking up dog shit and want to record it ill watch you too.

Won’t complain about crab prices again. You guys are working your tails off to put food on our tables and yours. Keep the videos oming😊
Hey Luke, great videos! I just read the article on you from BBC, very cool! 😉
Yall catching anything out there?! Fished them waters most of my life moved away like 4 to 5 years ago. Miss that job damnesr everyday of my life man. Crazy peaceful beautiful dam near every morning besides shitty rainy days haha. Job is like a once in life time type job love it
My dream job. Out one the water, catching my favorite food beside pizza of course.
Some of the traps are pretty full.❤
Maybe it is because I drive a desk, but this work is just calming & enjoyable to watch. What is in the tank that the re-baited traps soak in for a moment?
hot water - to kill the marine growth that would otherwise overtake the wire
I was wondering what that was too. 🤔
Really interesting watching this. You guys are getting it done!!! I’m a Tree Service Owner from Mississippi gulfcoast love all the vids
poetry in motion
This is what I’m gonna take a nap to when I get off work later.
Love the content man, much love from Michigan!
Just a idea but I think you should of got Mike Rowe to narrate this one lol
I got carpal tunnel just watching 😂
It definitely happens too.
Fyi. Find a big tree on your property and build pulley system to hoist your cab on/off your vehicle.
Garage trus/beam will also work.
That shaker you have is a beast!
No one is looking at the sounder?
The joys of fishing shallow waters 👍👌
They known where they are at lol
Running like a well oiled machine, right on!!

Best video yet. It takes hard work to be an American.
Wow as a kid in 1970 we were catching big crab and more then you could carry it is sad i loved fishing and cabing been in florida for 43 years i left MD to Join the USCG and ened up here in Florida but i had 18 years of fun in MD
That is the quietest I've ever seen you Luke! LOL
Have you ever tried putting the bait in the pots after sterilizing them? I wonder if the crabs aren’t attracted to the bait as much if it gets dunked in the sterilizing solution
Thinking Same Here.
It’s Just hot water. No chemicals at all
@budman7 what does the hot water do?
Yeah, the guy dumping the pot has too much on his hands that can be delegated to the guy taking the stuff out of there
@troydavison2467 kills everything growing on trap keeps it clean so it stays catching.
hey Luke I tell you man I really enjoyed this video y'all really work hard y'all well-earned yalls money brother I enjoy watching your show have a blessed day and I hope you have many many more and you all be safe out there and have a very blessed day 🙏
Work as art.
1st run of pots I count 142 crabs …. 2nd run of pots I count 178. Good work boys !! 🦀🦀✌🏻
Is there no radio playing because of you tube? Id put on concrete boots and swim after one day working that hard in total silece😂😂😂. Even rap would be better than nothing and that about as close to torture as you can get 😂😂😂😂
I mean, that Cat sings a nice tune, but I understand what you’re saying. I’m sure it’s because of YT.
Curious, you bait the pot before dunking them in the hot water that you use to "clean" the pots of algee and what not... does that not affect the "freshness" of the bait making it not as "areomatic" so to speak for the crabs? Have you any anecdota stories of before the practice was perormed or a/b testing?
I was thinking the same thing
Good point!
The tank just has hot sea water, no chemicals other than what falls off the previous dunked pots. It’s just to kill any growth so the pots fish best.
I wouldn't want to arm wrestling that dude shaking them pot's clean. He has a hell of a workout program
I'm curios to know, what are the freshly baited traps being dipped into and why?
Hot water to sanitize as others post. Is it heated from the motor or other elements?
6 minutes in and I'm already tired just watching you all. Dang that's hard work!
Awesome teamwork man looks like a awesome day. Love the scenery. also
Way to bust azz guys!. That's an honest days labor!.👍 thank you sir.
After it’s baited what is it dipped in…..like something for extra smell
That's a very busy process!
Got good crew there young man! Smooth machine, everyone knows there job well and how to it!
Can someone explain why they put the bait in the pots, THEN dunk it in the hot bath?
Shouldn't you dunk it in the hot bath THEN add your bait?
So the water doesn't wash away all that scent? 🤷♀️
I don't know...I'm not a crabber. I just watch one on UA-cam 😊

Dang! And I thought Chipotle was efficient!😮. “You ain’t no crabber!”😊
Nice team work
Great video! You guys work your asses off!! What is the water filled box that you are dipping the pods in for? What is the purpose of doing that?
So different from single float 20sum years ago. Good crew
call me crazy but i would love to come out for a couple of days and go crabbing and of course help as a deck hand, just something different then trolling out here in san diego on my boat, Gabe
Why does the bait go into the trap before the hot tank? Maybe thaws out frozen bait a bit?
Just hustling it ,kick ass guys
Bro, I love it. Could do all day. It gets in your blood
Looks like fun
Got a good assembly line going there
Heck you need an employee that looks fun
OK I don’t understand emptied the pot put the bait in the pot, put the pot in the hot water and stack the pot. Does the bait lose its flavor for the crabs to find it in the water there’s no sense please explain love your videos.
Fine tuned machine!!
That is hard work!
Like a well oiled machine AWESOME 👍👍🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Why does the bait go in before the trap is put in the hot tank?
Doesn’t that boil the bait? Doesn’t that kill some of the scent?
So fast! Holy cow! This is amazing!
Dang he made my arms tired in about 5 mins
Much love from Jacksonville, Florida..any crabs to buy☆☆☆☆☆!
The trap boiler must smell like cooked shrimp heads because he's loading the bait before boiling the trap.
How come you guys dip the traps in that tank with water? I'm a Maine Lobstermen, this is very interesting to me. Our lobsters have stopped coming into the bays in the summer because of the water being so warm now... have you guys seen anything like that?
What's the purpose of dropping the pots in the square tub of water after they're emptied and loaded with heads?
A well oiled machine.
I keep saying put some raw chiterllings inside of the bait cage and catch all the crabs
I hate jellyfish!! Very efficient!! Have a great weekend!
Interesting to see you work. Why do you put the crab pots in the tub that is at the center of the boat - some type of disinfectant?
Are you cooking the bait while your cleaning the trap? should try to bait traps after cleaning...
HEY LUKE, CAN U VLOG HOW TO MAKE SUCH TRAP CAGE?
Doesn’t your bait get cooked when you put the pot in boiling water or does it not matter ?
Is the hotbox for hygiene reasons or to get the bait smelling better for the crab?
What's an experienced deck hand make in a week roughly? Obviously your guys know what they're doing for sure!!
Why are there so many small crabs pots instead of 1 or multiple giant crabs pots? ?
So what are the pots dropped into the box of water? First time I’ve seen this part of the process.
