    Here is what I learned. You are a great mechanic. No one knows everything and you learned on this job for the next time. Also, you shared that info with the world instead of pretending like you know everything so you helped out us as well. Mistakes or a slight lack of knowledge are nothing to be upset about. You just learn from it and keep on marching forward. You also offer customers great advice (whether they take it or not) instead of not advising them and letting other stuff go wrong to get another job. An Honest mechanic creates lifetime customers. Another outstanding car video.
    Now, you and Eric O need to hook up and do a project. That would be epic :-)
    Thanks for what you do!!

    So the takeaway is, change your oil. And it looks like if anything else goes wrong with the car at least it won't be the turbo. And thanks for the video.

    I've done a lot of these. I used to work for a courier company and they had several of them. I always had fun testing them out to make sure everything is ok, they're surprisingly quick. The throttle response is instantaneous and smooth. I've thought about swapping one into my Miata

    Your last comment about the AC is giving me high hopes about why mine isnt working. Been kind of dealing with my p0299 issues and have come to the conclusion that the compressor is not working on my cruze, which i dont think is worth fixing at the cars age. Hopefully when i tackle the turbo issue the AC will have fixed itself.

    Great video explaining why the Turbo failed in the first place. The oil feed line on my Chevy Cruze LT was leaking when I first started getting the PO299 code. It was probably clogged as well, but didn't think to check since I was just replacing it. This seems to be a known problem on the part of Chevy with the design of their oil feed pipe.

    • @GadGetHackss
      @GadGetHackss Рік тому

      It can be good and bad at the same time, as it's next to the hot exhaust it heats up the oil very quickly which is good for the winter time but still bad for the oil because the constant heat wears it out very quickly as well which makes it thicker.. and this is why you need to replace the oil more frequently and not wait too long. This goes for every turbocharged vehicle..

      I was just helping The Canadian Bubba clean a carburetor- I advised him to make an impromptu ultrasonic cleaner.
      Whatever container you have for the part, use a 50:50 mix of ATF + Acetone, and attach an unbalanced motor, or (best) a $25 Harbor Freight engraver to the container. Dial it in, until you see the destructive waves hitting each other, like little hammers. Ultrasonic vibrations are key to cleaning. Throw in an aquarium heater- hot solutions work even better.
      An actual heated unit is only $50 on Amazon, great for stuff like injectors, tubing, etc.

    I had a cruze and went through 2 turbos in 18 months. So yeah, several bad designs i'm seeing in this video.

    So I just had my car at the shop and they replaced the turbo and all the lines to the turbo. I am still getting the p0299 code and then another code p0033. The car has absolutely no power at all and when driving you can hear something like sounds like it’s kind of sucking air.

    Can anyone help me out w the specs on the parts replaced. I’m having the same exact issues w my Cruze LTZ. 99% sure my turbo’s propellor is cracked as well. I had the dealer switch out the thermo under a “recall” for “free” in sept all that’s left is the turbo and the oil/coolant lines for it. I want to get a Garrett turbo. I don’t trust GM. Just want to make sure I get the right turbo and lines.
