it wont let me remove my carpet height adjust switch off of my hoover decade soft & light

Make sure the spring is attached to the axel underneath

If you take the hood off, you could take a rag and wipe down the height adjustment knob, slider piece, and then wipe down the adjustment piece. That should do the trick. Usually when I work on Elites in my collection, sometimes the height adjustment knobs are hard to get off, but after I’ve cleaned and polish those pieces . The height adjustment knob comes off very easily. 😊
