Pomodoro is a study technique. It’s when you study for a while, say...1 hr. Then you take a 20 minute break. Then study again. So on. Until you get to finish your work. Some ppl find it useful. Some don’t. It depends. I have ADHD. I heard it helps some ppl with ADHD but for me...no.

    • @kajielin4354
      @kajielin4354 3 роки тому +41

I tried that, and it just means that I'll be stopped every time I slowly started to actually immerse myself in the material.. It is great that it helps people, but my only strength in regards to studying is that if I am lucky and do everything right, I might get some hours/days of hyperfocus, and taking short breaks is the worst thing I can do then! And I wish people would stop telling me my way is wrong, and the secret is "5 minute breaks every 20 minutes" or whatever their recipe is..

@@kajielin4354 Same. If I think I have the energy burst to focus and actually get my work done, the WORST THING you can do is to break my focus. I will NOT get that energy back when I return to my task. I tried everything suggested under the sun with this technique. Even bought apps. But for some ppl with ADHD, it works. Really well, in fact. To those ppl, yay! To us, boo lol.

@@dont_harsh_my_mellow Yes! And there is no harm in using different techniques, depending on what actually works for YOU! For me, the worst thing I ever tried were those 5 minute breaks. Not relaxing at all, didn't help in any way plus I lose any focus and immersion. Sorry, that really scarred me, lol

so sorry to hear about your heartbreak! Wanted to be here with support because you indirectly supported me in feeling validated about my past experience and the way I am, which has led to me biting the bullet and getting myself referred to a diagnosis centre for autism! Something I never would have done without you breaking the stigma and the shame of confronting that for me-- simply by your being a lovely, charismatic and beautiful person! Wishing you better days ahead and enjoying the time we spend together in videos

I'm older and I have been diagnosed with anxiety disorder, social anxiety, medical anxiety (don't know if that's an official term but it's on my chart) PTSD and slight OCD. However, the more videos I watch the more I question things. So many things sound like me. I loved math because it had right answers, no room for interpretation. I hate change; I taught preschool for 23 years and hated changing my classroom. Not so much wall decor but furniture, centers etc. In grade school I had UTIs constantly and constipation because I was afraid to go the bathroom at school so I just put it out of my mind. I hate when people touch my stuff though I am organized. I had a chair at the kitchen bar I sat in forever, I always wanted the same lunch. I struggled to make friends and still do. It's crazy to me that I helped parents see when there were times they might want to seek out their pediatrician for assessment and I was usually correct (not bragging, just honesty). However, I never saw these things in myself. I tell my husband all the time that I want soft fabrics or I have to wear something soft underneath. I can't travel without my own blanket and pillow. I don't sleep in hotels and have to watch tv until I'm exhausted. I hate changing my routine and like to know ahead of time. I'm not a pop in and visit kind of person. You need to give me plenty of notice. I can't stand fluorescent lights and get headaches from them and I quit teaching because although I loved it, I had one child I couldn't help or reach, I was getting physically injured by him and I felt like a failure. I discounted all my successes even though I know that child struggled with additional staff and one on one care. I have not returned and won't. I loved my boss at this place and felt like she was a second mom. She knew all my diagnosis at the time but told me none of it mattered because I was the most amazing teacher she had. I was in constant competition with myself to get better each year than the year before. I was obsessed with continuing education and still am despite no longer teaching. I just really relate to a lot of what you say and I was constantly masking especially for the parents. Sorry this is so long. I just had to get it out.

This app is game changing. My whole life I have struggled with what I call “ill-defined tasks.” If I don’t know what is involved in a task, I can’t start it. My mom has helped me to “define the task” at various times, which has helped, but I have never found a productivity app, planner, or even to-do list style that works for me. An app that is built to define ill-defined tasks is absolutely revolutionary. Thank you!!

Especially if you're eating food with high water content like vegetables, fruit, etc. And let's not forget, say, the milk we put in our cereal, or the juice we have later on, or whatever. Thanks for this! As someone who forgets to eat, or shower, or do things I need to do, often, I'll definitely think about grabbing this app.
Also, some unsolicited advice for dealing with a breakup (feel free to ignore, this is just what helped me)
-working out is weirdly helpful, seriously. And I'm a weakling who doesn't like ever working out, so the fact that I'm recommending it is like...wack. But fr, doing one of my mom's workout discs from the nineties called "The FIRM" was what finally snapped me out of my post breakup slump.
    - you will have ups and downs, that is natural, don't focus on trying to prevent the downs or extend the ups, just use the ups to do things you want to do, and take care of yourself during the downs, let yourself hurt, let yourself lie prone on the floor listening to Alanis Morissette.
-Don't get hung up on when you're "supposed" to be over it. I remember after my breakup I would CONSTANTLY look up "how long will it take to get over this?" And then I'd beat myself up for not being over it by that time. That was lame. 0/10 would not recommend. HOWEVER:
    - Do put a limit on the ways you express those feelings. Make a rule saying "after such and such many months, I will not mention or vent about him to my family or friends" or "after such and such date, I will not write any more sad poetry about him", because those things can lead you into a self perpetuating cycle that stops you from naturally moving on.
-Idk how amicably y'all's split was, but if it was the kind of we can still be friends thing, you need to have some time enforcing a clean break. Maybe you can be friends again eventually, but while you're still recovering, it's not healthy.
That's my tips, feel free to take or ignore as necessary, and remember, this too shall pass. :3

This is an excellent video. Even though it's promotional, it subtly emphasizes the differences between NTs an NDs.
If I had a penny for every time I said to a psychiatrist that I feel bad and they asked me: "What are your thoughts?". It drove me insane. i can't verbalize how I feel!
I also often fail to feel hunger or thirst.
On the other hand, I spend a lot of time every day on the toilet. But I think that's down to the way anxiety and stress affects my bladder and bowel movements.
I considered using Tiimo, but because I work full time, most of my day's schedule is in relation to working hours. If I was still freelancing, that would really come in handy.
Also I can't stand wearing a wrist watch. I'm barely tolerating the tiny Fitbit.
(I do have to use an app to track my meds though, otherwise I miss taking them all the time.)

I just want to say you are an incredible women and you have done so much good for us ASDs and the world and general. I have been single for pretty much all my early 20s and I can tell you while it doesn't feel like it now you can have a full life without a partner.

1:31 Yep. Same. I've stubbed my toes so many times to the point of them coming off, and idk it's a problem until someone in the house freaks out and tells me I'm bleeding, and that my big toe no longer has a nail anymore.

Your a super star. Sorry your going thru the waves of breakup.
Also I’m a 36 year adult and autistic. I’ve never brought up this not feeling certain things to doctor. Just always since I was a kid had trouble explaining the emotions or feeling I was having. I have trouble feeling if it’s to hot or cold out. My family used to think that was just me not being prepared to go out. People in my life have had to remind me to go bathroom, I’ll forget to drink at all more than food, taking a bath I can’t always feel how hot the water is.. not saying I have this diagnosis but it’s what I’ve experienced my whole life. Also my skin will hurt all over and that affects my mood or hunger. At times I go mute as well when in situations.

Pomodoro is a productivity tool popular with ADHD people! It's basically incremental times for bouncing between work time and break time! 25/5 work to break is a common ratio but it's super customizable. :) sorry if you already googled it haha. I find it really good for tackling stuff I'm anxious about or unmotivated for.

Thank you so much for making this video❤ It was super helpful to me, because I'm struggling so much with this right now.
I just bought an ipad to help me plan things out, but I found that I couldn't bring it with me everywhere😓 therefore the reminders it sent me were kinda pointless. But maybe with this app it can send the reminders to my phone and it will be a bigger help❤
Love you btw, and I'm really sorry you got dumped😞💔 Sending you lots of love and hugs💕

Pomodoro is when you study ( or do other things) , its like you can work 15 min then you have 5 minutes of break then work again 15 min after 5 min of break and so on

I get the 10 minutes of homework thing bc sometimes I get too anxious to start something that is difficult or confusing, so I promise myself I only have to do 10 minutes of it at a time. Sometimes that's all it takes to get in the flow and sometimes I work on something ten minutes at a time and switch off with something I find relaxing/easy in between (assuming I have a lot of time to finish the project)
