I think the worst thing Ted did was telling his kids a story about how he met their dead mother only to find out that he did that to see if they would be okay with him asking out Robin.
Honestly, that was a the writter´s mistake. Because they planned it since the beginning... that was stupid. And I still think that he didn´t tell the story because of it. I think that he wanted to tell the story about the greatest friends in the world, about everything he had to do before meeting the mother, how he changed, how he became the best version of himself and how he let go of Robin.
@@stevemyopinion423 the problem isn't that he wanted to ask out Robin. The problem is that he was telling two children about their DEAD mother and father's love story JUST so he could know if they'll be okay with him dating another woman. Imagine yourself as a kid, your mom is long gone, and your father is telling you their love story. By the time it's finished, he's probably telling you how in love they both were and how devastating it was for him to lose your mom. And you're all in your feels like "aww such a lovely story.. they were so in love with each.. so perfect for each other.. my mom was a great person. I miss mom now" and BAM! Your dad wants your blessing to date someone else. It's completely okay for him to ask that but not the way he did. He was way off.
yes it is ok to disrespect women, I dont have to show repect to anyone that dont show respect to me, and again understand what she did, SHE was TED best friend, she left state, stop talking to him, throw away his friends for half a year, she throw away his friendship like TRASH, so YES she WAS A BITCH, and I would have never talk to her again, well at least for a while, put it this way, in friend if Rachel broke up with ross, then LEFT state, stop talking to monic at all, for a year, just throw away he friendship, see BITCH.
My biggest problem with Ted is, if you still have feelings for Robin, then leave other poor women alone. Who breaks up with a girl after she ran away from her wedding for you. At least friends' Ross hesitated when Emily asked him to not hang out with Rachel, for Ted it wasn't even a hard choice
True that and Victoria is best of them all who Ted dated even great than Robin that girl trusted Ted and ran away with him on her wedding day it's like Tony leaving Stella I guess he didn't he stayed with her no matter what this guy being creepily obsessed with Robin broke poor girl's heart.
PhantomMonkey2008 Yeah, she put him through hell for three months and he was completely shattered. I fully agree with the fact that she was being a Grinch
Luna Lovegood He wasn’t angry the whole time, but at the time of the message that he left he had every right to say that and she said he didn’t. His friend was hurt and he was just trying to help.
The two minute date was cute. It was the situation itself that was not ideal. Encouraging your children to keep hitting on a woman after she says no is not okay and shows a lack of respect for a woman's choice to say no. If someone hits on you and you turn them down and they keep showing up at your place of work every week and asking you out over and over again it might make you uncomfortable or even afraid of them. I hate when guys keep asking. I also hate it when they ask you why you said no. I mean nothing I say is going to make you feel better about yourself or make me not sound like a jerk so why ask?
@@ludobagman3882 no he taught his kids that persistence can yield rewards....he was perfectly ok with leaving her alone until she told his best friend she had a crush on him....and then found out why she said no...so he came up with an alternative .....there is a difference...its not like she was creeped out..she enjoyed his visits and they had a great time talking ..laughing and joking...if she had been disturbed I know Ted would have left her alone ....context is what makes this story
I don't remember the crush part, or the specific chain events. It's been a few years since I watched the episode. But when you look at my comment as it applies to general real-life situations that happen all the time, I stand by what I said.
Jimmy Garter if she didn’t love it she wouldn’t have dated him. Some things like how he “moved on” when it came to Robin are fair to doubt given how things turned out, but that seems accurate enough
Times Ted was awesome: 1. Being there for Marshall after Lily left. (Calling Lily a “grinch” isn’t great but his intentions weren’t to hurt her.) 2. Coming up with the idea for Lily and Marshall to get married in private 3. Helping Robin get over Don and letting her move back in instantly. 4. Moving past his anger and not confronting Stella. 5. Talking to Tony and getting him and Stella back together. 6. Giving Marshall the money for his car in a heartbeat to bail Marshall and Lily out after Marshall got fired. 7. Setting up the Highway to Hell Christmas show to cheer Robin up when he didn’t even know what bummed her out. I mean that was heartwarming, you can’t deny that. 8. Putting Robin’s feelings in front of his own and telling her to go after Barney the night his building was opening. He sacrificed what he thought was probably his last chance for love just to do the right thing. I get some of the Ted hate, but deep down he’s really a good guy, and he does a lot of great things throughout the show.
@@FrankHuber so what about the time he made Barney give back that glow in the dark suit and made Lily and Marshall go try again and have a child and made robin follow her dream by hosting the news. Didn't he also let lily be part of him and Marshall picture 2gether and he remember that she wanted a easy bake oven
The dog thing makes my blood boil. There’s a difference between some random junk his exes left at his place and didn’t collect and a living being Robin had a bond with. And the fact that she just gave them up to be with him? They loved her and she just let them go. For ted of all people, a guy who tried to keep his stuff anyway
True how could a moisturizer and dog be equal worst smack in his face is Barney acknowledging that even he wouldn't ask someone to do such a inhumane thing.
Yeah like she literally turned the nicest person in their group so depressed that he can't even put his pants on Not to mention how during that Ted and Robin decide to be all lovey dovey in front of him
I wouldn't go that far, remember when we saw him have a smile on his face when he was bashing his own brothers skull in? That smile was bigger then when he got married......to the woman he loves...…..what dose that intel?
I disagree with 5, at best he and Zoey are as bad as each other, but while the building held sentimental value to her, Ted building a skyscraper in New York would literally change his life (and did as it got him in a magazine and had a notable impact on his career).
I disagree with 5 as well...Zoey was very crafty and manipulative...Ted never had an upper hand with her...and Ted was actually on her side to preserve the Arcadia until the Arcadia's creator told him in a dream it needed to be torn down....after that...Zoey used the recording she lied and said she erased ...against Ted
I have major issues with two of the numbers on this list. Calling lily a grinch wasn’t a bad thing. she reacted terribly in that situation, choosing to punish the love of her life by stealing the Christmas decorations because she was unjustifiably mad at Ted. She was being a grinch, and not just when she left Marshall. She spent the entirety of the series manipulating her friends and interfering in their relationships: breaking up several of Ted’s relationships, stealing a signed baseball from ted’s boss to teach him a lesson (which jeopardized the jobs of Ted and his coworkers), basically forcing Marshall to give up his dream so he can pay her massive credit card debt, forcing Barney and Robin to confront their feelings for each other (this one is murky because while it led to them dating, it wasn’t her place to meddle with their relationship but she did anyway because she’s controlling), drinking wine and just generally doing things she wasn’t supposed to do while PREGNANT (endangering her unborn child), constantly being terrible to Marshall and criticizing him for his career choices (many of which he took because of her) and then getting angry at him when he accepts the judgeship (one of the few things in the entire series that he did for himself and not for her), and immediately making Barney and Robin’s divorce about herself by whining about the fact that she’ll have to pick a side. She’s plain awful throughout the entire series, and it wasn’t wrong of Ted to call her out on some of that awfulness. As for Stella, that two-minute date was romantic as fuck. He didn’t assault her, and she was obviously into it (he wanted to skip the kiss so she wouldn’t be late but she kissed him anyway, saying that she could be late just one time. And after that, he wasn’t forcing her into a relationship. He said during the two-minute date that he knew she was busy and didn’t want to interfere with anything, and he said to just call him if she ever became less busy. It wasn’t cruel of him, it wasn’t awful, and it didn’t make him a bad guy. EDIT: I know the Grinch one was only an honorable mention. I still hated it
@@thewewguy8t88He didn’t harass Stella. There’s a difference between persistence and harassment. He gave her a choice to pursue the date or not. She was happy to do it and enjoyed it. How could that remotely be wrong?
including that as part of the storyline was spurred from behind the scenes needs - Josh Radnor has a severe allergy to dogs so making Robin give them up was a way to write them out humanely so Josh wasn't having asthmatic symptoms with them on set
HIMYM fans loves Ted not because he is perfect... He's human. He learns from his mistakes and got better. That's the reason why he met the mother later on his life, at his best.
Thank you for saying this! As much as people rag on Ted there are so many times future Ted does a self-reflection on the mistakes he made in his youth and uses that as a way to teach his kids not to repeat those mistakes. It's self-growth and good character development since Ted is an older man with more life experience at that point.
I don't see him as remotely human. I can't imagine a person acting like him. He's no less a caricature than the rest of the case, he's just insufferable with his. Granted, this is obviously just my opinion.
I completely agree with this. Plus, most of the things on this list are not Ted being a dick, but him making a dumb mistake. Him telling Robin he loved on the first date is a good example of that
What about when he made Robin feel bad about being Independent. At first he may have had feelings for Robin, but then he was more in love with the idea of Robin, he wanted Robin to fit the mole f his perfect woman.
MsFriendsfan4ever I agree with this. How can you claim to love someone when you know they are nothing like what you want your life partner to be.. it's just the stubborn annoying voice inside your head.
Matthew Bigelow yeah that’s very true for me the big reason I seriously can’t stand Ted is because I’ve had guy friends just like him now I’m not perfect by any means but because I was not interested in them on a more than friends level they tried to make me feel guilty for not wanting them in that way I mean I get wanting to to feel needed I really do but there’s a difference between knowing your ‘S.O’ is there for you when you need them and having someone make you feed like there’s something wrong with you for not needing them 24’7 and it’s close to creepy bordering on abusive kinda relationship
It might sound wrong but it is true so I'll say it. Biologicaly speaking, in mammals the male one is the hunter the one who provides and protects the family and the female cares for the children. Now humans as a species have outgrown that but there are still some guys who need to feel like the protector, the hunter the strong one.And with a girl like Robin that's just impossible. And that is why I always thought and still think that robbin wasn't suited for ted at all and that ending was horrible
@@henri191 Hi 😊👌 it's fine if you like her so don't continue reading this comment but if you want to hear my opinion, here it is: She was bullying people in high school , after high school ignored Monica even though they were pretty close and then all of a sudden came and relied on her when she needed her She ignored Ross even though she knew he had feelings for her causing him to Clifhang for so long and be obsessed over someone and not move on + she basically treated him like a sidekick and got mad because he had trust issues she was partly responsible for him to have She said no to Joey then after sometime , when she began to have feelings for him, she hooked up with him even though he was in a relationship (note: so she kinda sensed he still had feelings for her all this time but ignored cause she didn't want him in the meantime) like Joey's feelings don't matter All this aside , she claimed she wanted to change from a Daddy's princess to a responsible grown up but she didn't really change she never worked as hard as anyone else in the show but she wanted to have everything and got mad when people pointed out. => this one is a little personal ... I just hate spoiled children and pity them it's like they never fully see or understand anyone , even life is a bubble for them and in some cases it never pops If anyone is a spoiled brat ... be Just don't claim you're the exact opposite 😐
I think the worst thing that he’s ever done is having us believe that he’s telling the story of how he met his wife, when in reality he’s sneaking asking his kid’s blessings to go after Robin again?
I came to love HIMYM because of how imperfect Ted was. He was relatable, making very human mistakes but learning by them. I don't get the hate he gets from everyone.
Ted's an unreliable narrator, basically the story was narrated by him to make his children understand why Robin is the one for him. He wants to tell them that he had such an epic adventure to find their mother but since she's dead Aunt Robin's the ONE he needs to be with. Also Ted after the last episode to Robin: The dogs needs to go.... again!!🙄
What pissed me off the most was when she described herself as a settler in the relationship when prompted by Marshall. I hate that reacher-settler crap anyway and Marshall had his flaws but he's always tried to treat Lily like a queen and for her to say she settled?? :(
1. Ted didn't know anything about Stella, Stella left him in the altar. THat because they didn't belong together, they just didn't know it at that moment. Not because Ted is a jerk. 2. Ted told Robin right the first date, that because he was stupid not because he was a jerk. 3. Ted didn't force Robin getting rid of her dogs, he couldn't take it anymore, Robin did it voluntarily.
yeah .. its not because when she say no , and say that she didnt want to see her ex , he say it anyway. 2) he is stupid and he is a jerk ( dont justify his action).
@@unviewerrandom4792Telling someone you love them doesn’t make you a jerk…it’s stupid, It’s awkward, it can even be creepy…but it doesn’t make you a jerk. It’s stupid to for that to offended you. Lol The video asked something to the effect of “what did he expect”…reciprocated feelings. Just like any other time someone says it…
Ted stepped aside for Barney to pursue Robin. When Stella got back together with Tony, he didn’t say a thing because he knew they were a family. He never made a move on Zoey when she was married. He’s made mistakes but there are plenty of instances where he was thoughtful of others.
It has nothing to do with whether I am a man or not and more to do with context of the show. Let me break it down for you 10. He was clearly reaching because the women at love matcher freaked him out and told him there were only 8 girls out there for him, nothing to do with his character 9. How was this bad? Marshall wrote the paper and got a B-. Ted was trying to win over robin and some would call it romantic 8. The minute he realized he didn't know enough about stella he stayed up all night talking about what he didnt know... 7.No arguments here 6. He is a jerk because he has a flaw? Like the others of the group don't? 5. The building was getting knocked over anyway and it was him dream to design a skyscraper in Manhattan, while zoey was just clinging onto the past. 4. He was freaking out about Marshall and Lily getting engaged and panicked with the first girl he met. 3. No arguments 2. Stella was into him this makes zero sense. He was clearly right that something was there as they got engaged, the 2 minute date was romantic and persistence isn't a bad thing 1. No arguments
it's a comedy, ya'll. everyone who was a fan of the show knew that ted was whiny and annoying. if he was a perfect guy, it would not be funny or relatable.
#2 was taken out of context. The reason Ted took another shot at wooing Stella was because he realised that, after ten sessions, she didn't actually refuse him. She just warned him that she has a daughter (basically telling him "I'm a single mom and that might not be what you want"). That they ended up dating proves that Stella did like him and consented to the relationship. What did not make the list, however, was when Ted serenaded Robin with a surprise string quarter in her home, then gave her an ultimatum when she told him he was coming on too strong. That was really cringey.
I'm sorry but #2 is bullcrap. There is a difference between being a stalker and being persistent. Stella was clearly interested in Ted so he was being persistent to work through the barrier she had set up for herself. The only reason she rejected him was because she didn't think she'd have enough time to handle a love life on top of being a single mother. The 2 minute date was extremely romantic and he did it all with class and respect.
The huge problem with #2 is exactly this setup "Stella was clearly interested in Ted so he was being persistent..." Just a head-up, this setup is *NEVER* true. If someone says "no", it means "no". Yes, I know, some people say "no" when they mean "yes", and they deserve all the unhappiness they get. This idea, fueled by some media, that "no" may mean "try harder" is harmful and should be stopped.
@@mohamedaminehadji6415 Ted just wanted a date. It's not as if he's asking her to have sex with him. The 2 min. date he had with her shows how accommodating and flexible Ted is instead of being relentless of spending as much time without Stella thinking of her daughter Lucy. In fact, Lucy enjoyed spending time with Ted later on in the show showing Ted isn't some guy who only wants to spend time with her mother. Stella didn't have much to lose so If she wasn't satisfied with Ted after the date, she could have ended their relationship with them being on good terms despite Ted being rejected.
@@darkmagician2521 "Ted just wanted a date. It's not as if he's asking her to have sex with him." Guy, are you listening to yourself? No is no, whether it's for sex, a date, a job, or a proposition to go out, anything... Sure, people can change their minds, but it's up to them to clarify it later. I stand by my point. The show is basically telling "If you ask someone for a date and they answer 'no', keep trying" which is completely stupid and borderline harassing
@@mohamedaminehadji6415 except she literally lied him.... So your "turn a no into a yes" makes no sense. The show made it clear that he would have left until he actually heard the reason why she said no. He then made a solution which she liked. Completely different from a dude just constantly asking
I despised her whenever she took it upon herself to break up couples because she thought they weren’t right for each other. It is not her place to do that. And also whenever she takes someone else’s things to teach them a lesson. She acts as if she’s their teacher as well. So annoying.
Is #2 really wrong; I know in today's femmnist world, you need a girl's consent to hold her hand, but seriously, Ted wasn't pressuring stella to have sex with him, he was simply trying to date her. It might have annoyed stella, but is making a 2 miniute date because that's all the girl would have time for really the 2nd worst thing ted's done
exactly it was a sweet moment because has he said the last time she didn't say no, she said that she had like two minute of free time, so what does he do, make the most romantic minute dates he can and had she said no to that date he would have let go
To be fair Stella spent 10 weeks telling him that she didn't want to go out with him. He should have just took a hint and stopped asking her out after the first or second time
lily redhead again, I'm not saying he wasnt annoying for doing it, but he wasn't a terrible person for doing so; really, he had to see her for 10 weeks and this was the one last chance for him (which worked, dobler)
andrew sutherland to be fair, calling him a terrible person for doing it may be a bit much. But it IS very disrespectful of her choices and boundaries. When she said she wouldn't go out with him, for whatever reason, he should have just moved on, everything after that is a dick move. Especially because he didn't even know that Stella actually liked him but didn't have time for a relationship at first.
The two minute date made me cry it was so sweet and romantic. It wasn’t like he was pursuing a woman who had said “No, I’m in no way interested in you, please leave me alone.” He was perusing a woman who claimed she was too busy so he proved she wasn’t.
A few things: -The two minute date was adorable! He wasn’t coercing her. Stella loved it. Ted at the time knew that Stella liked him because his friends had done some snooping but she was worried about fitting dating in to her life. His two minute date was an attempt to show her that he’s willing to make things work for her. -Calling Lily a grinch was justified at the time. It is not uncommon to try to cheer up a heartbroken friend by calling their ex a bad name. Sure, Lily was Ted’s friend too but she also abandoned Ted when she took off to San Francisco. -Telling Robin he loved her on the first date doesn’t make him a bad person- it was an error in judgment. -Making Robin get rid of her dogs was a production issue due to Josh Radnor’s severe dog allergy although, yeah the way the dogs were written off the show does make Ted look like a jerk. I do not hate Ted’s character. Is he flawed? Absolutely but he’s pretty harmless. He’s also generous and there for his friends. I think it’s crazy that people act like a character has to be flawless to be likable.
So glad to see someone say that about the 2 minute date. She was obviously interested in him, she was just cautious because of her daughter. She told Marshall she had a crush on him. Ted was just being persistent in trying to figure out what was holding her back from wanting to open up. I thought the 2 minute date was adorable and romantic. This is coming from someone who was a single mother focused solely on my child for years.
Ted may have done some bad things, but let's not forget the time when he gave Marshall some money, when Marshall and Lily had financial problems. Or when he motivated his friends to make important decisions
Natalie was also dumped on her birthday when she was precious on friends Edit: ms mojo just used my comment on their new video about himym ripping off friends. I made this comment two weeks before their new video.
Just saying that Grinch one wasn't bad. I mean not only did Lily break and destroy Marshall who is his best friend and someone who she has been with for years but she also betrayed him and left them without a word on how she is doing. It's a straight up reverse dead beat dad situation so in that time Lily really was a Grinch if not a seriously bad person
Ted's a very intelligent person and, like his friends, had a traumatizing childhood. His best Friend at age 10 was a balloon that his mother purposefully gave a picture of to Marshall to make fun of Ted and his little sister was a train wreck of a human being until her appearance(Only one) so Ted frequently had to step up and be a better person throughout his life and that included being very intelligent. Ted corrects his friends little mistakes because he had to do that with his family and they're his family now, he just likes doing it as he IS helping them is most instances, the rest his is being a dick. Zoey... No Zoey doesn't get to be put on a pedestal. She was bad news from the start. The girl is an early form of a Social Justice Warrior, she's what inspires Millenials to be unproductive assholes. She wanted the Arcadian to stand because her family used to live there despite the fact that the building is a death trap and it took an appearance from the Cockamouse to get her to let it go. She is also a compulsive liar and doesn't keep promises, she records every conversation she has on the off chance she can use it to her advantage. She shows the tape to Ted who asks her to destroy it, she doesn't and uses it to subvert Ted's proposition to tear the Arcadian down, the only reason it gets torn is because the Lions out front are stolen by Barney so the ruling based on the lions is undone. Zoey also vowed to love The Captain but quickly stopped since he loved sailing and Zoey was chronically seasick which led to her leaving the Captain for Ted. Zoey is not only a bad person she is a bad judge of character finalized in her last appearance defending the Central Park Hawk which attacked her mid speech. Zoey is worse than Ted, Zoey is worse than Barney, Zoey is worse that the Gangs Parents who are all assholes in their own rights except Marvin Sr he's cool
Zoey was his worst girlfriend, besides Jannette. Though, Ted helped her get out of a bad marriage, however all she did was try and ruin his career and was just a bad girlfriend overall.
In S5 E18 ( Lily's Birthday ) Ted gets a new girl, everytime the gang is celebrating something big and forces everyone to accept and like his "potential the one" and ends up ruining the evening. And then forgetting her name, a few months down the line.
Something I noticed that all these items have in common is that it all centers around what Ted thinks he is entitled to/should have in his life with little regard for how his actions make others feel...Throwing parties while Marshall is trying to study, dumping Natalie on her birthday (twice!? WTF is wrong with you, Ted!?), propositioning the engaged woman and especially convincing Stella to go on a date with him after she repeatedly said no...an actual 'good guy' would be considerate of people around him and take their feelings into account instead of just trying to box them into his vision of what role they should play in his life
What a shit list. I agree that Ted wasn't a great character and he did some bad things in the show but most of these are just plain stupid. You've got to realise that people aren't saints and stop setting such high standards for them. 10. He's just desperate. He put his faith in that algorithm and it showed that the perfect match for him was an engaged woman. 9. Same as above. He loved Robin so he threw those parties. Marshall let him throw those parties coz' he's such an amazing friend. 8. Seriously how is that being a bad person? It shows that he was dumb and going too fast with Stella. 7. Agreed that it was a bit unreasonable. (P.S. The show-runners did this because Josh Radnor was allergic to dogs) 6. Again, that is just someone's flaw. He corrects people's grammar. 5. Are you kidding me? Zoey was ruining his dream. Literally everything you mentioned can be applied to Zoey as well. 4. Unbelievable. I can't believe this made the list. 3. Agree with this. 2. This is where the show's "unreliable narrator" plot comes in. If you just go with "turning a no into a yes" then, it seems like he's a stalker. As per the story, it seems romantic so it's sort of a gray area. 1. Agreed
Lily has done things ten times worse than Ted. Breaking up couples because she felt they weren’t right for each other? Taking others things to teach them a lesson? Leaving Marshall for selfish reasons then not allowing him to move on? Come on.
I hated Ted because he’s a pusher. Every woman he ever perused did not want the life he wanted, and he kept forcing it on them. Then he would complain about what went wrong. The only person who wanted almost what Ted wanted was victoria, and the girl who kicked him in the face and he screwed them over every time he could. Then he just has every bad quality Ross does.
I feel like Ted Mosby was created just to illustrate how being hopeless romantic can be toxic. By watching Ted, i realize how not to behave when dating.
True but it's important to separate the actor from the role that they are playing so Ted had no right to make Robin get rid of the dogs since it's a major responsibility for caring a pet of any kind and they can be great emotional support.
You forgot when Ted tried to hook up with a married woman and stole champagne on St Patrick's day. He even admitted himself he had been a jerk that night. Ted has moments when he is not a good person, but isn't that the case about everyone ? People like to point his flaws because he is the "main character". Sure he is pretentious and can act like a jerk but he is also a great friend and very romantic when he wants to be.
Dude, the worst thing Ted mosby did was risking Barney's job for Joey, the girl you publicly humiliated after that. Bravo Ted! Barney is around for so many years literally begging Ted to be his best friend and the moment Ted meets a girl she is above Barney and all others. The moment he meets her. Dude.
@@codyhiginbotham6616 Yes but certain characters receive more punishment and or flack from the fans. And I really hate it when people say Chandler and Joey are impossible to hate because they were wrong
Ted is persistent no matter how much you tell him to stop. He loves you until he doesn’t, then he loves robin again. He’ll basically screw up everything but be expected to be forgiven. I started watching the show all over again and god knows I can’t stand Ted, especially when it comes to robin.
@@ajrojas7732 For a couple who's supposedly tell each other everything, she in multiple times wanted to leave marshall after they got back together. Yes she did comeback but the show kept ignoring the fact that she never revealed this to him not to mention she kept secrets to him and their friends that has negative impact, only to admit it after she gets found out there's a lot more but needless to say. Have you ever seen marshall doubt his relationship with lily? No. But lily? She's a grinch. Marshall deserves better.
It seems like Ted is so bad here when he's actually the one to sacrifice everything to make his friends happy. Always... He made mistakes, but if I have to be honest these are nothing compared with those of the others.
I'm afraid i disagree with the Zoey thing. Sure, she wanted the building stay, but it will tear down Ted's carreer instead. Keeping an ugly building, full of cockamouse and its family, just bcs it is majestic, magnificent, bla bla is stupid. They shouldn't be together from the start, and it was their both fault. Not just ted. Zoey leaving his husband is also her choice. Ted did not take part on that. He even try to break his friendship with zoey when he realized he had feelings for her. He did not have to dump his dream just bcs Zoey left his husband for him. They wouldn't work out anyway. They always disagree in almost everything.
Sociopath, definitely. But he was also a stand-up guy and a dependable friend who provided some of the best moments in the series history. He just was an arse to a number of other people and incapable of being in a romantic relationship.
A lot of these are really bad examples of Ted being a bad person, especially when taken out of context, or rather explained in a way that forcefully portrays Ted as a bad person. While moments like Ted cheating on Victoria with Robin WHILE their long distance relationship was still going on, and Ted breaking up with Natalie twice was bad, moments like Ted tearing down the Arcadian despite Zoey’s wishes are totally valid; Ted, for once, put his career in front of a relationship like Robin always did (with the exception of Don), and like the clip said his one Dream was to have ONE skyscraper in the Manhattan skyline, while Zoey wanted to not see EVERY iconic building torn down, basically asking for LITERALLY EVERY SINGLE ICONIC WORK to not be demolished, which is unrealistic in every sense. She really couldn’t compromise a SINGLE building for the man she “loved”? If anything, Zoey would be at fault. I could go on and on, but I won’t. Sorry I just get heated about this, my favorite show, when it comes to people degrading it. Anyway I disagree with half of these and could think of a couple better suited moments to fill their spot. All I’m saying is don’t make something out of nothing.
Problem is Ted justifies his horrible actions under the guise of a hopeless romantic... Barney is terrible but Ted is terrible and then pretends he isn’t...
I don’t like Ted either... I don’t like people that can’t let go of the impossible, it causes an effect on the other person weather they intend, like it or not. He never let go of Robin, and that made her second guess her marriage to Barney. I have no respect for people like that
Ted is borderline Sociopathic. He was interested in compromising with Zoe until he found out she was as married. Manipulated Stella’s assistant to get to her. And are we forgetting when he planned on abandoning Barney in a hurricane for a girl only to then decide to ditch her, again during a hurricane, when he found out she already had a boyfriend?
Miranda Miller J.R was allergic to dogs, but they wanted to keep Ted and Robin as a potential couple/friends so they needed to write in an excuse on why she got rid of the dogs. They could have written it better so he did not look as bad, or not gotten any hate for it whatsoever but fhat is not what they did.
Ultimately though why is it okay for Robin to demand that tag gets rid of all his things in his life because she sees his ex-girlfriend but when TED talks for the same thing yes it’s with dogs and they’re not anonymous objects but it’s still the fact of Ted feels uncomfortable with having these around. It’s not fair to just allow Robin to have that side of the coin that’s double standards 101
I personally agree with a lot of these times when Ted was the worst. But the time when Ted dumped Natalie on her birthday twice should’ve been #2 or #1. Ted does, however, make up for most of these mistakes on this list. Ted may not be perfect, but at least he makes up for almost every mistake he makes in life.
Every characters worst moment 1.) Marshall: Accepting a job as a judge before consulting Lily 2.) Lily: Leaving Marshall/ almost leaving him for the 2nd time. 3.) Barney: Selling a girl. 4.) Robin: Cheating on Kevin. 5.) Ted: Chwating on Victoria.
When you really think about it Ted is only the 4th worst of the group. Barney’s by far worse than him but I guess that doesn’t matter cause he’s the funniest
A lot of those picks were actually inaccurate about the show. I am not a huge fan of Ted, but I've seen HIMYM for many times. Maybe at those moments Ted was completely a jerk, but I guess if a person has really seen all those seasons, he/she wouldn't make these accusations.
theirislin I mean no matter what ted did to Stella the movie that was made about him was terrible she left him at the altar and he accepted it and then the guy who stole her away from him got rich making a movie where this guy is a terrible person
“When Robin realised she had feelings for Ted, she did the mature thing and steppes aside” Well exept trying to convince Victoria to move to Germany for ger own selfish needs
I hated the way Ted blindsided the women he dated by categorizing Robin as "just a friend" instead of an ex and when they find out the truth the show tried playing the women off as jealous or crazy...like what were they just supposed to be cool with that? Nooooo I guess in Sitcom Land its normal to hang out with your ex on a daily basis like your best friends.😒
"The Worst"? What about Barney? He routinely disregards his friends wishes. Lies to women to have sex with them, and sneak out in morning Space out while his friends are talking about their issues Says inappropriate stuff all the time Sexism and agism Could not shut up about the Bro Code, yet slept with his best friend's ex girlfriend
The problem with #2 is that Ted didn't turn a No into a Yes, older Ted says he did, but he didn't. Stella said that at the end of the 10th session she was going to say No, but what ended happening is she explaining to him that she has a daughter and only has time for 2-minute lunches. Ted returns to the bar, tells his friends, then he realizes something: SHE DIDN'T SAY NO. So he comes up with the 2-minute date idea, he asks her out on that date and she says Yes, they do the date and at the end he asks her that if she ever has time, to which she again says Yes. Months later (when she had the time) they start to date. So he didn't turn a No into a Yes, he just adjusted to her schedule and got a Yes from someone that already liked him (as revealed by Marshall).
The only pure soul of the 5 friends is Marshall...

So true
I think the worst thing Ted did was telling his kids a story about how he met their dead mother only to find out that he did that to see if they would be okay with him asking out Robin.
Honestly, that was a the writter´s mistake. Because they planned it since the beginning... that was stupid. And I still think that he didn´t tell the story because of it. I think that he wanted to tell the story about the greatest friends in the world, about everything he had to do before meeting the mother, how he changed, how he became the best version of himself and how he let go of Robin.
proving that ted truly is the worst!
his wife been dead for 6 years, he wanted to make sure his kids were ok with it.
@@stevemyopinion423 Yay a smart person!
The thing with Lily being a "grinch" was justifiable, he was trying to make Marshall better by talking bad about his ex, EVERYBODY DOES THAT
and Lilly deserved it too!
Julio Carranza And he never meant for Lily to hear it.
he also was hurt that when she left SHE STOP TALKING TO HIM, she throw his friendship away like it was trash.
Yeah but not when there ex is your friend, and nothing justifies disrespecting women
yes it is ok to disrespect women, I dont have to show repect to anyone that dont show respect to me,
and again understand what she did, SHE was TED best friend, she left state, stop talking to him, throw away his friends for half a year, she throw away his friendship like TRASH, so YES she WAS A BITCH, and I would have never talk to her again, well at least for a while,
put it this way, in friend if Rachel broke up with ross, then LEFT state, stop talking to monic at all, for a year, just throw away he friendship, see BITCH.

Got to side with Ted on this one zoey was constantly getting in the way of Ted's building plus she almost tore the whole group apart.

If anyone can take a look at my channel I made a video talking about Ted I’d really appreciate thanks and Happy Wednesday !
He had a solution where the building could be modified so there was a compromise. Then abandoned that when he realized she was married. Such a tool
In fairness, Lily was being a grinch.

He called her a cunt

Luna Lovegood He wasn’t angry the whole time, but at the time of the message that he left he had every right to say that and she said he didn’t. His friend was hurt and he was just trying to help.
I actually thought the two minute date was cute....😕
Toni Rosemary And clever. He probably spent days and weeks toiling to arrange all that.
Ludo Bagman Perfectly said.
Oh GTFO. Stella loved the 2 minute date.
That was what he told, the story might have been a little less romantic than that

Jimmy Garter if she didn’t love it she wouldn’t have dated him. Some things like how he “moved on” when it came to Robin are fair to doubt given how things turned out, but that seems accurate enough
F Stella
Times Ted was awesome:
1. Being there for Marshall after Lily left. (Calling Lily a “grinch” isn’t great but his intentions weren’t to hurt her.)
2. Coming up with the idea for Lily and Marshall to get married in private
3. Helping Robin get over Don and letting her
move back in instantly.

I disagree with 5, at best he and Zoey are as bad as each other, but while the building held sentimental value to her, Ted building a skyscraper in New York would literally change his life (and did as it got him in a magazine and had a notable impact on his career).
luke Hodge same I disagree with 5
I disagree with 5 as well...Zoey was very crafty and manipulative...Ted never had an upper hand with her...and Ted was actually on her side to preserve the Arcadia until the Arcadia's creator told him in a dream it needed to be torn down....after that...Zoey used the recording she lied and said she erased ...against Ted
Not to mention almost ruining barneys career..

they getting together to me it was the worst part, people can have their diferences, but not at this point, and they were forced and boring together
The two minute date was one of the sweetest things I've ever seen.
Yeah even Magic! did it in " No Way "
I have major issues with two of the numbers on this list.
I still hated it
*salutes* major issues
Respec bro
i am on the fence with stella but yeah the whole calling lilly a grinch thats really on her after she did a horrible thing to both marshel and ted.
@@thewewguy8t88He didn’t harass Stella. There’s a difference between persistence and harassment. He gave her a choice to pursue the date or not. She was happy to do it and enjoyed it. How could that remotely be wrong?
Making Robin give up her dogs was ludicrous and immature
Юлиана Кузнецова Yeah! You don’t just make your partner get rid of their pets! That’s just wrong. Ted didn’t deserve anyone
Robert Small exactly! No matter who gave them to her..
Yeah! Also doggies are a human's bff
Precisely! Romantic partners come and go, while dogs stay till the end of their, albeit short, lives
including that as part of the storyline was spurred from behind the scenes needs - Josh Radnor has a severe allergy to dogs so making Robin give them up was a way to write them out humanely so Josh wasn't having asthmatic symptoms with them on set
And [they] killed her and then getting back together with Robin again wtf!
Agree!
Thank you! Seriously I cannot understand how Ted was ever the main main character he has ‘literally’ no character development not like the others
Thank you!! I was thinking the same!
Matthew Bigelow yeah that’s very true for me the big reason I seriously can’t stand Ted is because I’ve had guy friends just like him now I’m not perfect by any means but because I was not interested in them on a more than friends level they tried to make me feel guilty for not wanting them in that way
I mean I get wanting to to feel needed I really do but there’s a difference between knowing your ‘S.O’ is there for you when you need them and having someone make you feed like there’s something wrong with you for not needing them 24’7 and it’s close to creepy bordering on abusive kinda relationship

She was bullying people in high school , after high school ignored Monica even though they were pretty close and then all of a sudden came and relied on her when she needed her
She ignored Ross even though she knew he had feelings for her causing him to Clifhang for so long and be obsessed over someone and not move on + she basically treated him like a sidekick and got mad because he had trust issues she was partly responsible for him to have
She said no to Joey then after sometime , when she began to have feelings for him, she hooked up with him even though he was in a relationship (note: so she kinda sensed he still had feelings for her all this time but ignored cause she didn't want him in the meantime) like Joey's feelings don't matter
All this aside , she claimed she wanted to change from a Daddy's princess to a responsible grown up but she didn't really change she never worked as hard as anyone else in the show but she wanted to have everything and got mad when people pointed out. => this one is a little personal ... I just hate spoiled children and pity them it's like they never fully see or understand anyone , even life is a bubble for them and in some cases it never pops

Ted's an unreliable narrator, basically the story was narrated by him to make his children understand why Robin is the one for him. He wants to tell them that he had such an epic adventure to find their mother but since she's dead Aunt Robin's the ONE he needs to be with.

10. He was clearly reaching because the women at love matcher freaked him out and told him there were only 8 girls out there for him, nothing to do with his character
9. How was this bad? Marshall wrote the paper and got a B-. Ted was trying to win over robin and some would call it romantic

4. He was freaking out about Marshall and Lily getting engaged and panicked with the first girl he met.

2. Stella was into him this makes zero sense. He was clearly right that something was there as they got engaged, the 2 minute date was romantic and persistence isn't a bad thing
1. No arguments
couldn't agree more, and adding more on number 5, you're talking about a career vs a whim of a spoiled trophy wife,

@Maple A. darlin it is if people are doing it every day with less drama 😐 people do cheat in relationships even Victoria did
If anyone can take a look at my channel I made a video talking about Ted I’d really appreciate thanks and Happy Wednesday !
And yet Ted never learned and continued acting like that...
They even have an episode about it! Doppler dahmer theory
The huge problem with #2 is exactly this setup "Stella was clearly interested in Ted so he was being persistent..."
Just a head-up, this setup is *NEVER* true.

It might have annoyed stella, but is making a 2 miniute date because that's all the girl would have time for really the 2nd worst thing ted's done
andrew sutherland Thank you, Andrew. I agree!
exactly it was a sweet moment because has he said the last time she didn't say no, she said that she had like two minute of free time, so what does he do, make the most romantic minute dates he can and had she said no to that date he would have let go
To be fair Stella spent 10 weeks telling him that she didn't want to go out with him.
A few things:
-The two minute date was adorable!
“my parents live in ohio, i live in the moment”
the best!✨🚀
Now do, 10 moments where Ted was the best! 😊
Carolina Artavia I don't think there even are 10 moments
@@jacobdrain4492 there are more than ten.
Ted may have done some bad things, but let's not forget the time when he gave Marshall some money, when Marshall and Lily had financial problems. Or when he motivated his friends to make important decisions
@nicholas davis and Ted did the same.
Natalie was also dumped on her birthday when she was precious on friends
Edit: ms mojo just used my comment on their new video about himym ripping off friends. I made this comment two weeks before their new video.
This list is mostly BS.
He's still my most favourite character of all time. I LOVE Ted Mosby.
I’m a robin fan
hes pretty sexist though :/
Just saying that Grinch one wasn't bad. I mean not only did Lily break and destroy Marshall who is his best friend and someone who she has been with for years but she also betrayed him and left them without a word on how she is doing. It's a straight up reverse dead beat dad situation so in that time Lily really was a Grinch if not a seriously bad person
She doesn't walk out her kids, so she isn't like a female version of a deadbeat dad.
Lily was a dick in that instance but Ted makes everythinf abt himself
Lilly was a grinch (what she did to Ted and Marshal waa awful) and Zoey is being given too much credit; she was just as terrible as he was
In S5 E18 ( Lily's Birthday ) Ted gets a new girl, everytime the gang is celebrating something big and forces everyone to accept and like his "potential the one" and ends up ruining the evening. And then forgetting her name, a few months down the line.
"Say Cheese"
Something I noticed that all these items have in common is that it all centers around what Ted thinks he is entitled to/should have in his life with little regard for how his actions make others feel...Throwing parties while Marshall is trying to study, dumping Natalie on her birthday (twice!? WTF is wrong with you, Ted!?), propositioning the engaged woman and especially convincing Stella to go on a date with him after she repeatedly said no...an actual 'good guy' would be considerate of people around him and take their feelings into account instead of just trying to box them into his vision of what role they should play in his life
I love Ted but he kinda sucked sometimes! 🙃
he literally sucked LOL
Thats what made the show so popular
The fact that Ted's Suckness was opposite Barney's Awesomeness made this sitcom even funnier
Just like the rest of them tho lol
(P.S. The show-runners did this because Josh Radnor was allergic to dogs)
By watching Ted, i realize how not to behave when dating.
i love him, buuuuut he had his bad moments...
Sorry, I don't think Ted telling Robin he was in love with her it made him look the worst. Husty, but absolutely not the worst.
To be Fair, Josh Radnor is allergic to dogs.
True but it's important to separate the actor from the role that they are playing so Ted had no right to make Robin get rid of the dogs since it's a major responsibility for caring a pet of any kind and they can be great emotional support.
Ted was a single guy trying to find love and making mistakes along the way. Its not like most of humanity doesn’t do this. 🤷🏽♂️
This list is the worst
Lily was being a Grinch and the 2 minute date was awesome, saying I love you to Robin did not make him Jerk
Dude.
Out of the 5, Marshall is the only one who’s impossible to hate. Just like Chandler & Joey
M is a boring, judgemental prude. I don't hate him, but he's easily the weakest of the 5 main characters.
No Chandler and Joey are pretty easy to hate. Don't try to make excuses for them. But every Friends character is easy to hate
ICohen 16 Friends & HIMYM character I hate most is Rachel & Robin
ICohen 16 Every character has flaws, I’ll give you that
@@codyhiginbotham6616 Yes but certain characters receive more punishment and or flack from the fans.
Lily is second to ted when it comes to horrible character
kaiser der variante Idk she’s more lovable than robin in my opinion
@@ajrojas7732 For a couple who's supposedly tell each other everything, she in multiple times wanted to leave marshall after they got back together. Yes she did comeback but the show kept ignoring the fact that she never revealed this to him not to mention she kept secrets to him and their friends that has negative impact, only to admit it after she gets found out there's a lot more but needless to say. Have you ever seen marshall doubt his relationship with lily? No. But lily? She's a grinch. Marshall deserves better.
kaiser der variante You have a good point Marshall is better than her by a landslide but I’m just saying that robin annoys me more than lily
"You can't turn a no into a yes" funny how Barney cares more about consent than Ted does
It seems like Ted is so bad here when he's actually the one to sacrifice everything to make his friends happy.
I swear, I didn't mean to any of those things.
You need to do one about every single character in HIMYM in order to have any credibility.
Exactly. Just like the HIMYM characters.
Sociopath, definitely. But he was also a stand-up guy and a dependable friend who provided some of the best moments in the series history. He just was an arse to a number of other people and incapable of being in a romantic relationship.
Mani Thangadurai IMO, Barney. and Lily were the worst. Marshall was the best.
Marshall was good, no doubt. Lily actually got a lot better as the series went on.
@Kanye West ???????????
He was awesome man! Can you guys stop critisising himym every time! I mean just stop. Ted is the best
I thought barney did worse things but then again the all had there bad moments
Problem is Ted justifies his horrible actions under the guise of a hopeless romantic... Barney is terrible but Ted is terrible and then pretends he isn’t...
So basically Barney should have been the protagonist instead of Ted
Ok the only one i don't agree with is the zoey thing... His is a job, her's is a phase
yeah its the same way even after he got the building bulldozed she still wanted to be with him. she never really cared about the building
The Dobler-Dahmer Theory explains it perfectly "A gesture can be charming or alarming based on the how it is perceived by the person" .
..and of its sincere or not
Ted going after Robin even though she is engaged and in love with Barney ..
Ted making Robin get rid of her dogs absolute number 1, total jerk.
But the worst has been Robin, who actually did it.
How can he be a jerk by trying to make his girlfriend give up the fight of ruining his biggest dream? Wake up, mrsmojo!
Ted wasn't THE worst......he IS the worst
The title would have to go to Barney or Ted. Marshall, Lily, and Robin 100% do not deserve to be called the worst
Marshall: Did not want Ted to be happy with Tracy
Lily: Manipulated Ted's relationships
Robin: Insulted Patrice without reason
Ted will always be my favourite no matter what, and this doesn’t include the trashy ending
The ending was great, you're just delusional
@@ericstorm6582 wtf? Ask any himym fan the ending was horrendous ITS LITERALLY ON THE TOP WORST TV SHOW ENDINGS look it up
Demanding Robin to get rid of her dogs and trying to ruin her wedding by “stealing “ her from Barney. Two of the worst.
I loved this show but I couldn’t stand Ted. He was so annoying. I didn’t like that Robin gave her dogs away. I wouldn’t do that at all
Miranda Miller J.R was allergic to dogs, but they wanted to keep Ted and Robin as a potential couple/friends so they needed to write in an excuse on why she got rid of the dogs.
Robin has done worse stuff
Omg yes, she is terrible. Especially in s7.
@@salmasabry402 yes Robin slowly became extremely unlikeable
Every characters worst moment
1.) Marshall: Accepting a job as a judge before consulting Lily
2.) Lily: Leaving Marshall/ almost leaving him for the 2nd time.
Fuck the haters..Ted is great. Every HIMYM character had his bad moments, especially Barney yet people only bash Ted
I think this list is full of bs and forceful
Nooooo
I guess in Sitcom Land its normal to hang out with your ex on a daily basis like your best friends.😒
"The Worst"? What about Barney?
He routinely disregards his friends wishes.
Lies to women to have sex with them, and sneak out in morning
Space out while his friends are talking about their issues
Says inappropriate stuff all the time
Sexism and agism
Could not shut up about the Bro Code, yet slept with his best friend's ex girlfriend
I fucking love Ted. Favorite character on the show.
How in the actually hell did the the series finale not make number 1 let alone on the list. Okay watchmojo
I think the 10 Sessions arc was actually pretty sweet and charming
The problem with #2 is that Ted didn't turn a No into a Yes, older Ted says he did, but he didn't.
Stella said that at the end of the 10th session she was going to say No, but what ended happening is she explaining to him that she has a daughter and only has time for 2-minute lunches. Ted returns to the bar, tells his friends, then he realizes something:
SHE DIDN'T SAY NO.
Only 10? Dude was a monstrous A-hole for most of the series
