Porsche say they will only make electric Cayman / Boxter from now on.
@@a64738 I remember reading somewhere that the new Boxter is technically capable of taking a conventional ICE but they don’t plan on making one in the short term. I have no idea if that is accurate or not. It will depend on the structure used I suppose. If it is, I suspect that much like the 718 series which was 4 cylinder only, Porsche may change its mind if sales are low enough. I certainly hope for Porsche that they haven’t put all their eggs in the EV basket.
718 spyder owner here. One of the best cars ever made.
Just to add Cayman is proper sports car and it was not considered to be grand turismo. 911 is grand turismo these days.
In forza this car is so nice to drive. Wish I could drive a real one!
I'm considering ordering a 2025 Cayman. Test drove a 2024 an liked the car. I'm still on the fence mainly because of the scary maintenance/problems associated with Porsche. My backup plan is a late year S2000 which I can get for less than half (~$40K vs $100K USD) the cost of a Cayman. The S2000 likely has zero depreciation while the Cayman/Boxster will have a 20% immediate depreciation.
To late... Porsche stopped making and selling the 718 Boxter / Cayman this summer, now you can only buy the Spyder / GT4 model that is 2,5 times more expensive ;(

I have owned a couple of 911 and have a 981 Boxster S. The maintenance is basically no worse than any other car. None of my cars have had any problems. The S2000 is now a pretty old car and that will cost you money to keep it running it's best - don't expect parts for it to be always available - it was a low volume seller.
One element I don't like bout the Cayman is the interior!.,it's just outright outdated!.
It’s definitely a bit on the older side but some will see charm in that
Classic, well thought out and very functional. Give me this over a Tesla Model 3 interior with the it’s touch screen only operation any day, especially in a sports car.
@@peterj5751same. I sold my M3 perfomance for one. Loving the simplicity
Yeah that's right, review some real cars instead of Chinese shitbox EVs with ripoff faces, have some self-respect
Four cylinder.....No thanks.
Be careful for what you wish for ... Now you can not get the 4 cylinder anymore. Porsche stopped making and selling the 718 Boxter / Cayman this summer, now you can only buy the Spyder / GT4 model that is 2,5 times more expensive ;(

@@a64738 So now you go for the 911...
Cheap plastic interior with that price tag. I’ll probably go for a m4 competition.
Where have you seen cheap plastics in Porsche Cayman? Go to showroom and do not judge from keyboard. As owner of Cayman I have not found any cheap plastics there. On the other hand BMW has cheap plastics in all models. Comparable with Dacia:)
@@Miroslav-v9m The front trunk release located in the sill in my 2011 Cayman might be called cheap plastic. It broke. I can now either use the fob or reach into the space with a pencil and push the white button.
Overrated overpriced
Lol😂 have you driven or own one? Get a Toyota 86 for value of money 😂
Yes you can get very fun and good cars for half the price, and now 1/5 the price... Porsche stopped making and selling the 718 Boxter / Cayman this summer, now you can only buy the Spyder / GT4 model that is 2,5 times more expensive ;(

But a lot of people say the Cayman / Boxter is worth double the money. And some prefer the much cheaper Zubaru BRZ and Toyota 86 and similar cars, and some "upgrade" from Porsche to BRZ and 86 and similar, it comes down to what you like, test drive all of them if you can :) I did test a older Miata with 150hp, it was surprisingly fast for such a little engine, but it was to much of a sportscar Go-cart for me so I am going for a older Porsche that is more of a sports cruiser and less tiresome to drive.
I track both my brz and gts4.0. One for casual tracking and the gts is for more serious tracking events with faster sports car. I’ve changed the suspension, brakes, wheels etc to make it better on track whereas the gts is straight out of box on track.. both drives differently but the gts4.0 is seriously more refined n drives like a Porsche.
