I love guitarists like Jerry. You can see he is capable of incredible stuff but he doesn’t just make the whole thing meaningless shredding. He speaks through his solos.
i love watching or better said listening to a concert or few of them on the Alice in Chains Fans yt page, because those videos are rare and they begin woth Nutshell, just overwhelming at times… But always with me, Layne, Mike, Jerry and Sean and all of them, especially music they made together… I even play Nushell with my author music band, just that cover, got 44 in my ass, so i hope that tells something… Cause i don’t like covering bands that are sacred to me.
Man, I can feel him reaching into his soul and pulling those notes right out! The man is a fucking genius and one of my all time heroes! God, I LOVE Jerry Cantrell!!!!
Personally, I can't imagine the strength it takes just to go through life as Jerry Cantrell, with his past and all. I'm glad he has the talent to put his feelings into lyrics (many of which have absolutely _crushed_ me), but the ache in his heart will probably never go away.
My buddy just got killed not about almost just 6 days ago.. I’m grieving and this solo perfectly describes how I feel.. I miss him and want to play this for him in his honor..
I love how he lets a chord "sing". I got lost when he is in "the zone" and I think he does too. My favorite part of this performance is when he gazes up into the night sky and says "thank you" to Layne- it makes me cry. Thx for the upload Chamo
Holy solo! Most feel ive ever listened to! No one can do it like cantrell, frusciante, mark morton and david gilmour. Greatest guitarists ever to live. Shredding blows btw. This is a real solo.
When a low quality cell phone video recording from 12 years ago still has better tone than 9/10 newer tracks you hear you know it’s a video of Cantrell lol.
People sometimes base a guitarist's ability on the speed in which they play. That is awesome but no one can come close to a guitarist that plays with soul like Cantrell. This solo has to be one of the most beautiful ever.
I feel every single bit of this. Of course, Layne made this song legendary (esp the Unplugged version). But every time I see Jerry perform this since Layne’s passing, I feel like it belongs mostly to him now. I can just feel him thinking about all the times he had with Layne and Mike and how he’s pouring his heart to them. I can feel him even thinking about his come-up, his struggles to get his music off the ground right after his mom and grandma died when he was just, what, 20?Jerry Cantrell is a REAL one. One of the all-time greatest musicians ever. I’m thankful for him and AIC’s music. ❤🤘🏾🎸👏🏾🙏🏾❤️
At 2:00 I lost it (as did he obviously). The poor guy. All of the beautiful music he once made (and even that which he still makes today) will ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS have Layne the Legend's shadow looming overhead. I can't imagine a stranger, more poignant, more _painful_ way to go through life, even if the adage is true that "time heals all wounds." I mean, what he does for a living, that healing, that bandage, just gets reopened over and over again. Augh. But one week from tonight, I get to see him in person. I probably won't get much sleep between now and then. God bless you, Jerry, truly.
Because these dip sh#ts don't Know what real music is to them the auto tune is the 🌟.. dummy's for music listeners e book should be a requirement when the all music awards shows send ballots out for the public when voting for their favs.. just saying 🤔
Count Grishnackh, I think he is. This song probably brings a lot of pain. Layne always sung this song with so much pain behind it and Jerry is crying because he lost his friend to drugs. RIP Layne!
What I noted here that was really truely powerful to me is that at the end of his solo he only nods to the audience but looks up to the heavens as says "thank you" to Layne- I think he was saying that without Layne encouragment to be a "lead" he never would have had the courage to be up there- so in a sense every success Jerry ever had is owed to the Great Layne Staley!!! Thats a lot of emotion to drag around for my boy Jerry- seriously!!! Beautiful sentiment and song!!! Layne is so proud of Jerry - he is clean and sober and kicking major ass on the stage!!!!
Flynn Taylor Jerry composed all of AIC's music. A good chunk of their more popular songs like Would, No Excuses, Heaven Beside You, Down in a Hole are solely written by Jerry Cantrell. There's always fans like you who write comments like they know these guys personally. You don't.
his there, at several points. Notice that Jerry looks up at the very end here and says"thank you" to Layne- its pretty powerful. I know he loved him very much.
G&Ls and Les Pauls are his trademark....for me it's ESPs and Les Pauls and my Grestch Jets, G&L asat and Epiphone Hollowbody Wildkat....love p90 pickups..Gilmour turned me onto them with ABITWpt2 solo and Poles Apart omg what a solo and incredible song.
Chamo, thank you for post this vid. I never got the chance to see them. At present im writing a book about them. This is one of my favorite vid of Jerry- He is severely under rated as a Guitar player. He is on par with Gilmore. I love his riffs!
Yeah he low key used/uses them almost as much as his GnL and his fenders. He did an interview at some point basically saying every album is a mix of those 3 guitars.
I love guitarists like Jerry. You can see he is capable of incredible stuff but he doesn’t just make the whole thing meaningless shredding. He speaks through his solos.
kind like David Gilmore they could sherd your face off, but choice to speak volume with a few notes.
Cantrell's passion shows in everyone of is solos
Thanks Jerry!
This is how a real musician plays guitar. Hey never misses a note, never off tempo, never has a bad guitar tone, never out of tune.
Awesome and touching solo. Jerry put his soul and feelling in his solos and riffs the same way Layne did with his voice
Fuckin yeah
Jerry is the best, Please visit my Channel and subscribe too!!!
This is , for me at least, his best guitar solo, which is a bold statement, considering all of his guitar solos are damn perfect
the tears flow hard, Jerry must be strong to hold it together.
lavonne demers, yes but it’s ok because I’m crying for him. We miss you Layne Thomas.
I find myself watching this video almost every day. One of my all time favorite solos. Awesome
Thank you!!!
+Pat Ryan i got it in my cellphone i got it in my youtube playlist i got it every where.
ChamoPeskdor Thank you so much for posting this. Amazing just amazing
ChamoPeskdor I keep coming back to this solo. So much feel and emotion. Its breathtaking. Beats a solo with a million notes.
i love watching or better said listening to a concert or few of them on the Alice in Chains Fans yt page, because those videos are rare and they begin woth Nutshell, just overwhelming at times… But always with me, Layne, Mike, Jerry and Sean and all of them, especially music they made together… I even play Nushell with my author music band, just that cover, got 44 in my ass, so i hope that tells something… Cause i don’t like covering bands that are sacred to me.
When I’m rich I’m going to hire Jerry to just solo around my house all day depending on the mood it will be acoustic or electric.
Fucking great idea, he is one of my biggest guitar hero’s.
@@modernmisery1944 yeah he’s the reason I switched from drums to guitar. Favorite guitarist hands down.
Me too, plus Toni Iommi
And you would have to throw Zach wild in there for good measure!
I could have sworn there was a few times Jerry made that guitar CRY through the solo because he couldn't break down in front of the audience.
Love to see Jerry looking up at Layne above for moral support. Can only imagine how much he misses his buddy.
Can't imagine the hurt he feels, they were unmatched with their harmonies and song writing
Man, I can feel him reaching into his soul and pulling those notes right out! The man is a fucking genius and one of my all time heroes! God, I LOVE Jerry Cantrell!!!!
He was heartbroken during that solo. Miss you too Layne
I love this man, could listen to him play all day. Such passion, and self admitted to be a sentimental sort.
Personally, I can't imagine the strength it takes just to go through life as Jerry Cantrell, with his past and all. I'm glad he has the talent to put his feelings into lyrics (many of which have absolutely _crushed_ me), but the ache in his heart will probably never go away.
Jerry looks like an angel, and Layne is in his soul! you can feel their spirits bleeding out of his guitar.. omg i love this band
Feeling it, Jerry. Totally.
Amazing phrasing and such an astounding touch on the instrument. Fine, fine guitarist.
There are only few guitarists from my youth era that just pull emotion from me, and Jerry Cantrell is one of them. Such a great player and great guy.
the pain in his heart bleeds into that solo- no doubt Jam!!
This is probably my favorite solo by Jerry, well probably most favorite solo ever. Jerry is the master.
Insane solo. My absolute favourite.
he is awesome theres alot of pain in his eyes.
I think I like this solo more than “Comfortably Numb”. So much feeling.
My buddy just got killed not about almost just 6 days ago.. I’m grieving and this solo perfectly describes how I feel.. I miss him and want to play this for him in his honor..
I am so sorry about your loss....
God...when I thought Jerry couldn't be any better! 😢....!
Powerful. Especially so today. I watch it regularly and really appreciate you posting it.
Brilliant solo, and Jer, you are the cutest guy ever. I love you.
Jerry was playing that solo for Layne Thomas Staley
I love how he lets a chord "sing". I got lost when he is in "the zone" and I think he does too. My favorite part of this performance is when he gazes up into the night sky and says "thank you" to Layne- it makes me cry.
Thx for the upload Chamo
Your right. I does look like Jerry is crying. Wow. This was so amazing. I'm so glad I stumbled upon this video.
makes me cry everytime , absolute legend.
this song always speaks to me through Layne, I always feel his pain, such a missed lost soul :(
This solo still gives me goosebumps after so many time... The power of great music. It’s endless.
Holy solo! Most feel ive ever listened to! No one can do it like cantrell, frusciante, mark morton and david gilmour. Greatest guitarists ever to live. Shredding blows btw. This is a real solo.

One of the best performances of this solo live. ❤
I love his guitar pout!
Aww he was crying. 😭
jerry has been and always be my favorite guitarist
I was there.
Knew in the moment I was witnessing a special one.
When a low quality cell phone video recording from 12 years ago still has better tone than 9/10 newer tracks you hear you know it’s a video of Cantrell lol.

Such an amazing guitarist and song.

Best song ever. NUTSHELL '
Bad ass solo! So much feeling, so much passion. Layne, you are missed!!
Cantrell is crying?
Count Grishnackh, I think he is. This song probably brings a lot of pain. Layne always sung this song with so much pain behind it and Jerry is crying because he lost his friend to drugs. RIP Layne!
Why not. I am.
Every time he looks up, I just know he's thinking of Layne😭
Wow, that stirred up some serious emotions!!
I think hes saying thank you to the fans because theyre up higher on the stands, he would have to look right up if it was "to the heavens"

Rockart9 that’s not even what Flynn Tyler was trying to say
I come back to this every now and then because its so good
As I said the Bleeding of Jerry cantrell!!
Fufken killer. Love his style
Thank You for posting this
+Jeremy Miller no problem, glad you enjoyed it!
+ChamoPeskdor you recorded it?
Jerry is such a pro
@0:26 jerry looks up to the heavens (on layne) and goes, "we miss you big time brother!"
Love you Jerry!
He's awesome 😎
cantrell reminds me of david gilmour in that they can get more out of one note than anyone else. their tone and feel are so freaking killer!
his there, at several points. Notice that Jerry looks up at the very end here and says"thank you" to Layne- its pretty powerful. I know he loved him very much.
Fuck yeah ! Just saw in Syracuse on Monday,THEY BROUGHT IT !
beautiful
cantrell and gilmour can do more with one note than most can do with a whole solo.
What a fucking legend
todo dia venho aqui ouvir essa perfeição! Jerry fez um trabalho simplesmente incrível, eu amo isto.
Eu continuo aqui! Sempre tenho a mesma sensação quando escuto esse solo

What a fucking beast.
Ohhhhhh yessss. . . .Mr. Cantrell

"I swear to God he was crying but he showed no tears"- Alex Mason

Beautiful, many thanks for sharing this here!
Les Paul Custom, to be exact
god chills went down my back
RIP LAYNE ⚘
Love it!!
Didn't expect the Les Paul. Sounds killer.
Yeah he low key used/uses them almost as much as his GnL and his fenders. He did an interview at some point basically saying every album is a mix of those 3 guitars.
Tks this is great!!!! Who dislikes it is dumb and nuts! Jerry is a guitar angel!!!
Cantreeeeeeeeeeeeellllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll....!!!!!
