- K & S Railway (#307): One of the most unusual railroads on the Pacific slopes, K & S Railway served the Silvery Slocan for almost 15 years. The narrow gauge line started in old Kaslo and traversed some of the toughest terrain on the continent to get to the booming community of Sandon B.C.
I've crawled all over this area on mountain bike and on foot, since about 1980. I started on bike in 1987. first guy mad enough ! it is always a magical place for me.
thanks for posting this ..love this show .
Back in 1964 5 of us hiked up to the K&S Railway grade and walked along it until we got to Payne Bluff. All that was left were 2 rails that were suspended in mid air & attached to the rock cliff. Below was a sheer drop of what looked like a couple of thousand feet. We all walked these suspended rails (about 20 feet) and got to solid ground. I was afraid of heights but my dad talked me through it.
Those 2 rails are still hanging over the drop are still there. The whole area is treed in now though
Love it!
Must have been rough building in the winter months.
Wow, Mike Roberts was young when this was filmed.
Isn't this show from a 1990's PBS series? I watched the whole video, fascinating!! But where is Kaslow? Sounds close to Kelso, which is in Washington state. =)
