  • In this lesson, learn how to use "All, All of the, All the"
For example, what's the difference between:
    All - All students.
All of the - All of the students.
All the - All the students.
As you can see, these three sentences have slightly different sentence structures, but the meaning is the same.
    So what's the difference?
First you need to understand the difference between "all" and "all the".
We use "all" (without an article) when we're talking about the noun in general.
When I say "all students", we're talking about students in general. We're not talking about specific students. They could be students studying any topic, in any country and any age.
We use "all (of) the (with an article), when we're talking about a specific group of the noun.
When we say "all (of) the students", we're talking about a specific group of students. For example, the students watching my UA-cam videos or the students in Harvard University.
And there is no difference between "All of the" & "All the". We commonly leave out the preposition "of" in spoken English. However, this can only be done in specific situations so my recommendation is to use "of" to be save.
By the end of the lesson, you'll feel confident using "All, All of the, All the".
